Good idea lol. It’s never available for purchase and the only thing saying it exists is the store page. Bonus points if, due to the fact that we still kinda don’t know what Gaster looks like, that all of the images of the plush would be blackened with a white question mark on it or something idk. I would be remiss in my certified nerd license if I didn't point out that Sans actually doesn't remember events that were saved over -- he just knows about the "the anomaly" which is causing timelines to "go left and right, stopping and starting", and he's very good at reading facial expressions. Putting two and two together from reading Frisk's face after repeated Pacifist playthroughs, he gathers you're the anomaly and pranks you across time and space. What a guy.
Yeah, we also know this because Flowey tells us he fought Sans before, yet Sans never recognizes him as the initial anomaly, pinning it all on Frisk in the Genocide fight.

This sounds hilarious but it implies that Sans and Papyrus canonically know they are in a game, have asked the players for money and even offered rewards like creating a monster but despite all of that they are just chilling and don't care while the secret bosses become insane by knowing a fraction of all this. Which is also hilarious.

Nobody ever talks about how if you translate EGG into all caps wingdings it makes the moveset of a Knight piece in chess but honestly I have no idea if that could be just another big fat coincidence or the most vague and weird foreshadowing and it really could be either tbh

I do sorta have my own idea/theory/headcanon as to what's happening with Gaster and The Knight but the EGG thing throws it off course in a way that I can't even tell if it's intentional or not and it's something I think about a lot whenever I hear or think about Gaster's role in Deltarune
@@Blank-vp6ep The Knight is very likely to be Kris. This is by far the most natural way to interpret what we've seen so far, and the only way to not make Chapter 2's ending a giant red herring. People get hung up on supposed timeline issues that disprove this point, but those are all based on unfounded assumptions.

Personally I hold that the Egg Man is none other than _Everyman!_ He's just a nice guy who shows up sometimes. Little cameos in attacks. Seen in graffiti. Waves at you in cars. Offers you eggs. Every bit as enigmatic as Gaster, but where Gaster has River Men telling you to *beware* him, Everyman's only description is from the artbook, describing him as "nice", and "intermittent". What two things are this enigmatic Egg Man?

8:15 You actually forgot to mention something here. The "Don't Forget" image isn't the only thing in this drawer, there's actually multiple things you can find in this drawer. The default thing you find if you interact with it is "photos of Sans with a lot of people you don't recognize". However, if you interact with clamgirl, after she tells you about suzy, if you go back to the drawer and check it, you find the "don't forget" drawing. At the end of the pacifist route if you check the drawer, you find a picture of yourself and all your friends. Just thought this was some interesting info you left out, since people literally only talk about the dont forget drawing nowadays.
I used to think it was implying the people in the photo was the other monsters, but then it didn't make sense to me personally because by the time you get to the Judgement Hall you've met virtually all of the cast except Asgore, so Frisk would recognize them

It's always been strange to me how promiment the "Gaster fell into the Core" theory is. To me, it always made much more sense for the "creation" that Gaster fell into to be the mysterious machine in San's workshop - with the machine being some kind of space and/or time travel machine. This would line up much better with a couple other mysterious bits of info we've gotten on Gaster.
1: It makes much more sense for Gaster to have ended up spread across all of space and time if he fell into a machine that manipulates space and time, rather than just a big energy generator like the Core.
2: It would explain why Sans has been trying so desparately to fix the machine under the tarp for so long - to get his father back. Sure, Sans shouldn't have any knowledge about Gaster since he was erased. But, Sans is also notoriously able to accuratlely put together what's happening when timespace anomolies are in play even when he doesn't actually have the exact information, like him being able to perfectly predict what Frisk has done in previous saves. I'm sure he's noticed he just never had a dad.
3: It fits with the whole "Sans and Papyrus are originally from Deltarune" theory, with the green grass and the boys appearing from seemingly nowhere and whatnot. A machine that can travel through time/space/dimensions/whatever would be a pretty good explanation for how that was accomplished.
Don’t some people in Undertale somewhat recall Gaster though..? I may be misremembering but swear people have talked about it before (and said that everyone forgetting him was a common misconception n was more of a very popular headcanon)
I had a really solid epiphany that I can't remember all of from a while back, but the gist of it is that the "garbage noise" isn't directly tied to Gaster. It's actually some sort of interference noise that comes from trying to communicate between dimensions. That's why it's all you can hear when Kris uses their phone to call anyone from the Dark World. If Gaster is stuck a layer deeper than a Dark World like the current theories speculate, it would also explain why Spamton's final phone call was also garbage noise. It would explain why Entry 17 has it in the background, if it's being sent to us from another dimension (remember that the only way to access Entry 17 is to manually edit your room ID in Undertale's files). And it could explain why it's at low intensity behind the bunker doors: if the bunker leads to a Dark World that's been open this whole time with a dark fountain spewing since Dess's disappearance, it's possible you'd be able to detect the dimensional interference of it just from being close by.

@@leedlelel2373 Ralsei is vague on how much darkness is necessary to cause the Roaring, but it would make sense for the world to be close to it if we're gonna have some sort of climax related to it within a week of the game's story.

In one of the earlier newsletters, there was a rougue' gallery of all the Grillby's bargoers which included bios for important to minor characters. The Skelly Bros. also gets bios, but something on Sans' bio stuck out as it says "The first day he appeared, he sat down and said "i'll take the usual."
I don't know what this means, whether I should take it literally or it's just Toby trolling us, I was just reminded of this when I were taking about them.

4:26 makes me think about how the Fun-value “sound test” room with all the songs titled after things that aren’t in the game (including “Gaster’s Theme”) takes the place of one of the rooms in Snowdin where you’re on the banks of the river.
That's what many people said while there was only undertale. But now that there is deltarune we have something actually coming from the sea and not from something near the sea.
I didn't check the timestamp with your comment so I thought you were talking about the egg rooms. Now that I think about it, the sound test room is also "a room between" that you can only enter based on random chance. Makes me think.
Gaster's potential association with the eggs has me re-assessing that Mystery Man sprite like... hmm, his head does kinda look like an egg. And being "irreparably shattered" in the story sounds like that Humpty Dumpty fairy tale.
But mostly I just think it's funny if the former royal scientist was literally an egg head.

I love the small subsection of Deltarune fans that came into existence when Spamton was introduced but still liked Jevil more so now they're bitter because saying that you like Jevil is now a STATEMENT.

The first video is one of my favourite Undertale essays ever, and I think the reason so many people liked it isn't just the noise around chapter 2, but the way you just take years of speculations and theories and compose them into one (not so) definitive and relatively short sweet video.
The ability to take a look back at all of these Gaster things capitalised by different people in the fandom, it's kinda comforting.

12:17 you indeed did forget something else, in the valentines day newsletter toby does for fangamer, there was a chance to get 3 random cards from characters. people got them all but there was one where a character spoke in all caps and didnt have a picture talking about how they wanted to help you with something and when people discovered it the card mysteriously vanished an hour or so after.
The Shopkeeper dialogue is far from the only evidence for sans and Papyrus being from Deltarune.
A very consistent motif with sans is the idea of a home he can’t return to. He mentions it at the Hotel diner saying he ’knows the feeling’ of wanting to go home, and in his fight he says he ’gave up trying to go back a long time ago’, and it’s made clear he’s not referring to the surface because the next line states that the surface doesn’t really appel anymore either, implying that it’s separate from wherever he wants to return to.
So, sans and Papyrus appeared in Snowdin at some point (not too long ago unless the Shopkeeper’s older than she seems), from some place they can’t return to anymore. sans has a photobook full of people Frisk doesn’t recognise and in it there’s a specific photo with three people and the words ’Don’t forget’.
sans also has a machine which is broken and the purpose of which is unknown.
Deltarune has a trio of protagonists; Kris, Susie, and Ralsei (like the three people in the picture)
Papyrus does not recognise the sun in True Pacifist ending, which wouldn’t make sense if he was from the surface world of Deltarune, if it wasn’t for the fact that Toby’s so far deliberately had Papyrus stay fully in doors in Deltarune.
Add to all this the Gaster connections sans and Papyrus have, and Gaster’s heavy presence in Deltarune, and you get a very compelling argument for the following theory;
sans and Papyrus were in the world of Deltarune before they were in the world of Undertale, whether that’s their ultimate origin world is disputable and unknown. They met Gaster in Deltarune’s world (whom had already been scattered in Undertale’s world), and at some point during Deltarune’s events they will be sent off to Undertale after having played some part in the story, and received a picture of the main trio.
also worth noting that he talks about how he would've killed frisk if he didn't promise toriel, this is kinda assumed that it's just because he's a monster who's trapped in the underground, but if he's from deltarune it might be some kind of grudge against kris/humans because of future events

It's legit crazy how many addendums could be made for gaster evidence, hints and theories, it could actually make me go insane. The sweepstakes just being filled with odd references and even a blatant Darker yet Darker quote. The egg/tree man connections. Like the possible reference to the tree in the true lab of undertale and the fact that the theme for "man" is a yume nikki track for seccom masada, who together with Uboa resembles Gaster a lot. The layout of the first tree room even mirros the mystery man room quite a bit. And the way to access these tree rooms feels like a nod to the Uboa encounter, where you also have to leave and enter a room over and over again.
Then there is the possibly coincidental fact that "egg" in WingDings spells out the moveset a *kight* chess piece would make. Eggs in general are weird in Undertale and deltarune and turn my brain to mush thinking about it. Even Mystery Man's head just looks like a cracked egg now. And then there are the Memory Heads in the true lab that are super mysterious and their "Bad Memory" item that fits the theme of "Don't Forget" and even behave similarly to the egg in Deltarune. Absolute wild stuff and reading this without knowing the games makes me sound like an insane person.
Can't wait for the next chapter, I'm basically starving at this point.

The song under the sea is probably a reference to that one Fun event in the Snowdin area (not the town, like, right after you come out of the ruins and meet Sans and Papyrus) where the save point and box are, where if you walk upwards to the room with the river and the fishing rod, you can hear small snip-its of songs like what Onion-San is describing. One of those songs is Gaster's theme.
The first Gaster video is required reading now for Underrune Deltatale class, so it's great to get a few more chapters for the textbook!
5:00 I like to think the reason Gaster says you're about to meet someone wonderful for Kris, Susie, and Noelle, but no one else. Is because Kris, Susie, and Noelle are all very normal names that the player could very possibly have. So it's Toby's cute way of having Gaster acknowledge this without being spoilery or weird about the player's name ^^

an interesting thing to note about the sans and papyrus origin stuff is that sans lost soul in the asriel fight makes a comment something along the lines of "youll never see em again' and during the genocide fight mentions about giving up on "going back;' notably seperate from going to the surface
youll never see em again could possibly be about the other lost souls i suppose but mixed with the stuff in sans lab; sans being cagey about their past in the qna thing finishing the question; and the showing up one day in snowdin thing i feel like it heavily implies they were somewhere before undertale; and i doubt they were banned from a part of the underground or something. it definitely sound like sans had to leave somewhere with no way of ever returning or seeing the people there again; and if it were the surface way in the past i doubt theyd have seperated the lines about going back and going to the surface

I'm sure someone's already mentioned this, but the badge in Sans' drawer is often assumed to be Asgore's police badge from Deltarune. (unclear how he would have it, but yknow)
That garbage noise panning was a nice touch
2:57 this point also reminds me of a voice file within the original undertale game, titled abc_123_a.ogg
when the game first released, it was seemingly evident that people were going through the game files and finding secrets, so the file was intended to be found by those players. it was an amalgamate (literately) of different pitched voices, some high pitched, some whispering, and even some singing, in that same sound font that is presumed here to be gaster.
it forewarned the consequences of talking about spoilers online, even taunting the player, before cascading into disembodied laughter-- lines like "no one will be impressed", and "it will be your fault" being the most notable.
since the game was spoiled anyway, if you return to that same file, it is just the laughter on loop forever.
it's an eery and foreboding aspect of the original undertale game, and how there's an awareness to our curiosity and power -- how can interact and are aware of these aspects of the game, like gaster, but despite all that, he still holds the upper hand since he knows very well what is exactly going on in both games, more than we do. it's so neat :,)

I want to point out that it's never really said that Gaster fell into the Core; he fell into "his own creation", which could mean a dark world or some powerful mysterious version of a dark world considering the Entry 17 experiment is very likely to be connected to dark worlds
But I feel the more obvious meaning is The Core, right? Like that’s the creation all the followers talk about, so I think we have good reason to think he fell into The Core, right?
@@Zosso-1618 Only one follower mentions the Core. It's the same one that says he fell into his own creation, so it's understandable why this was thought to refer to the Core.
The three followers give their own little retelling of what happened when Gaster disappeared. If you combine their stories, it would read something like this:
"One day, his experiments went wrong and he fell into his creation. They say he shattered across time and space."
So it could logically still work if he was doing some kind of experiment with the Core at the time. But the dark world creation theory is more interesting considering what we know from Deltarune now and what is mentioned in Entry 17.
@@Patrick11nf Oh no 100%, entry #17 is probably about dark fountains. But it’s not like we really know how The Core works, so I’m not sure we should be calling it the less interesting theory. Who knows, maybe The Core theory and the Dark World theory aren’t different!

i will mention one thing that hasn't been mentioned in either videos, its two secret audios in undertale's files that are VERY much tied with gaster.
the first file is jumbled varied TTS voices forming up dialogue about not wanting to share secrets about the game. the second one came out that came out after this was discovered (from my memory of this happening i could be wrong) that people suspect said "HAPPY PEOPLE" with each syllable of the words in different TTS voices as well.
this is DEFINITELY somewhat linkes to gaster as his voicebox in undertale is parts of different TTS voices put together in different voices which makes it sound more unique than every other dialogue we've heard in the game. (also partly the same TTS we hear in the deltarune chapter 1 opening) it also seems to be talking directly to the player about the game which gaster is 1. pretty much aware everything is part of a game from his followers and 2. has talked directly to us before through the twitter posts and at the start of deltarune chapter 1.
it really shows how distant gaster is from the game's world to our own as he fell out of time and space and is communicating to this world via unusual means but still somewhat linked to the game. it's a really cool detail i'm a little shocked wasn't brought up!

You'd think that the most influential scientist in your area would be remembered by almost everyone right? There'd be books about him, his successor would probably say or write something about him, but no, no one does. The reason being because he was shattered across time and space, pretty much erasing his entire existence
@ no one mentions alphys either. Also, maybe he simply didn't get credit or is just considered ancient history, it does say it took a while to replace him. Also, people don't talk about inventors alot. I talk about phones a lot but not steve jobs. All of these could potentially be true. Just cuz he's not mentioned doesn't mean he's forgotten
@@paintingsky7208 That wouldn't make any sense, because who would just forget or not write about the guy who made THE CORE, the main source of power for the entire underground? Who would just forget or not write about someone like Steve Jobs? And for the Alphys part, no one would talk about her (to you) because she wasn't relevant to your story until you befriended Undyne, where she then tells you about Alphys or at least hints about her. Gaster would be relevant in your story when it relates to Alphys, The Core, and The True Lab, yet no one ever says anything, not even Alphys when she's writing about her experiences in her entries
@ first of all, gaster has nothing to do with the true lab, he lived there a WHILE ago, thats alphys story. 2nd, what about the people who built everything else in the underground. Yes the core is very very important, but people don't really mention because it isn't really part of the story. I think you're starting with the conclusion he's forgotten and going back to find evidence for it.
@@paintingsky7208 that last part is kinda the point. you start with the conclusion that he disappeared off the face of reality, and then you gather reasons as to why one thing or another could be a possibility. after all, these are theories we're talking about.

Your previous video is now one of the leading lore dumps/explanations for the importance of Gaster, and I try to share it around as much as I can. We need more people like you in the Deltarune/Undertale community. A weird amount of people straight-up deny that Gaster exists at all and it hurts, especially as someone who wants to see him someday... after waiting for eight years. I kinda want answers more than being left with my own conclusions, especially since Gaster surrounds a lot of key lore.
(Fighting him could be fun too, like the superbossiest of superbosses...)

9:32 RECENTLY saw an incredible theory talking about the true lab entries being alphys AND gaster and gaster having succeeded in reviving some "fallen" monsters, including the shop rabbit lady!!! it was very compelling and also kind of explained the presence of the Delta Rune in hers and Gerson's area, and their curious knowledge and insight into the kingdom. VERY VERY INTERESTING.

Wait wait wait, it's really bizzarre you made this right after we got the most amount of conversation with gaster with the valentine letters toby released on valentine!! Did you not read Gaster's super fun silly radical love letter to us?
Be wary of those claims. I watched a really good video that posits (and in my opinion proves) that the valentine in question was written by the egg man, not Gaster, and goes on to explain how we can know that they are two different people.
@@Dudeman23rd we literally don't know anything about the egg man besides he gives us eggs. Everything in the letter has stuff that are literal signature from gaster and gaster alone, the all caps, spacing, weird speech, he literally says if we're enjoying deltarune since he is the one that it's giving us the game through Twitter and stuff, and more. The only not gaster thing is the less creepy and more friendly tone, which is easily understandable in both English and Japanese because this is the first time we are seeing something from him that isn't a formal report or conversation, it's gaster writing a friendly valentine letter.
The question is moreso, is the guy that is speaking to us on Twitter, the goner maker sequence and the letter gaster, or someone else? Everyone has always been sure the first cases is gaster, so the letter is too.

@@Dudeman23rd I've already spoken to like other 4 people saying the same thing to me and none of them have yet provided me with an actually good argument or element of what I've said to be wrong, and one even eventually agreed with me that the entire reason people are thinking that can't be gaster is that they have in their mind an idea of gaster as a constantly creepy doctor which to them is not fitting with gaster possibly being an actual rounded character beyond that, so no I don't need to watch it. But you're free to actually provide what of what I'm saying is flawed and why.

i think it’s highly unlikely that papyrus has been to the surface or is from deltarune, considering a line he says at the end of true pacifist undertale. he asks sans what the glowing ball in the sky is, to which sans replies telling him it’s the sun, and papyrus says that he can’t believe he finally got to meet the sun. this wouldn’t make sense if he’d been to the surface before; anyone who’s been there would be well acquainted with the sun.
Papyrus definitely knows what the sun is - he mentions if you inspect his racecar bed he wants to drive around with the wind in his hair and the sun on his skin. He's most likely just lying to keep his origins a secret, overcompensating by pretending he doesn't even know what the sun is.

Also, something that's interesting is that in the opening of Chapter 2, when you go to the Library, the cars jammed outside can be interacted with, one of them comes up with "Looks like a car. There is even a man inside this one. He waves at you happily" Which yeah isn't too strange, but that's a very odd detail to include in something that doesn't really need any sort of secret interaction??? Also you can find Temmie inside of the school and she tells you how many eggs you've collected! Or at least I remember that during one run, but it was a good while ago, someone may be able to confirm or deny that-

10:00 there's a tiny bit of evidence- Sans is the only character in Undertale to reference ICE-E, which seems to be a famous brand of some kind but oddly absent in the rest of the game. However, ICE-E gets his popularity firmly established in Deltarune, starting from the very beginning of Chapter 1 and being referenced frequently from then on. Word Search lore!

Something that is… well, very very interesting to note is that the man behind the tree also appears in the light world. If you took chapter 1’s egg (not sure if you need to have placed it in the fridge), during the traffic in chapter 2, if you interact with either one of the two grey cars (that you can get to) the dialogue reads:
*(Looks like a car.)
*(There is even a man inside this one.)
*(He waves at you happily.)
As you’d expect, this only happens once, but I find it weird it can happen in two different places. This might imply the man is a lightner? Though I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s just an entity who isn’t exactly a lightner or darkner
Seeing as he disappears afterwards in both scenarios, it’s more likely that they’re not a lightner and just have the ability to appear anywhere. Especially if it’s Gaster we r talking about, with the whole spread across time and space. It’s likely rather he can manifest anywhere. Lightners and darkners have form, and either BW or color depending on whether they’re a lighter or darkner. The fact the man has neither makes me think they’re neither.

Sans' comment about 'giving up on trying to go back a long time ago' during his fight, the track name "It's Raining Somewhere Else", during the date his speech to Frisk about what it takes to go back home could be read as projection, his lost soul dialogue, the photo of people that Frisk doesn't recognize, and Sans "being really happy and at peace that he could celebrate the holidays with so many friends" from Papyrus' Alarm Clock dialogue (heavily paraphrased) is everything I can think of.
The trying to go back line is almost conformation, like, I don't think it gets any clearer than that.

I always thought it was interesting how sans tells you during the bad time™️ that he "gave up trying to go back a long time ago". Maybe something really bad is gonna happen to that world by the end of deltarune which, given the ending of chapter 2, is not a stretch to imagine. Then again, as you said, sans could've just been around long enough to remember life on the surface. But "getting to the surface doesn't appeal to me anymore, either." Just a weird couple of sentences.
And I know some of the later True Lab entries are written in lower case text and it could be Alphys just losing her composure as the experiment draws on. But arguably, it could be sans writing them as well. His mailbox is full of junk mail and if I paraphrase one of the lower case lab entries "the families keep asking when they will be sent home." They being, the test subjects' dust.
Also entry 17 explicitly asks "what do you two think?" If gaster, alphys, and sans were working together that would also help explain how at the end of a pacifist run before you leave for the surface how alphys knew sans was gonna make the same joke. She probably heard a lot of those in the lab.
I dunno. The line between headcanon and evidence-based speculation gets very blurry sometimes for me. It's just really fun to speculate since there are so many "Well it could actually have gone like this:" lines of thought regarding the subject material. I think I can say for sure though that the gaster mystery and surrounding plot elements are the most interesting part of these games. To me, anyway.
