I remember reading the script myself a while back and knowing for sure it was fake because by the end of it just seemed like the person making it was just making stuff up

I've searched far and beyond anything and reached out to so many people, and so far I've only been able to retrieve three studio/cinematic quality clips of the DHMIS Pilot.

i feel like people confuse bad with different, the pilot from what the leaks show seems pretty good, it has good music jokes and is beautiful art wise, it just is pretty different from normal dhmis, that doesnt make it bad though
I find it interesting how in the channel 4 show they just took the living room set from the pilot and split it into two rooms.

I've noted that some of the props from the pilot are reused in the series. You can see the lamp repurposed into yellows imagineary brother and the tv is also the same as the pilot. Clayhill is also mentioned in episode 5 on the GPS, and episode 6 on the chalkboard in the big boys room. Probably just cool Easter eggs for people who watched the pilot cuz the puppets and scenes are obviously different

I think the worst part about this for me was my dad was laying carpet for the theaters for the sundance film festival this was playing at. I knew and I begged and pleaded (bc I didn't have any source of income at the time) for him to take me and he refused because he didn't wanna sit through stuff he didn't like. So I could have potentially seen the sundance pilot but didn't due to negligence on my dads part

even as someone who isnt a big fan of the pilot (dont get me wrong, its not bad by any sense of the word, it just feels kind of messy from what ive seen) i still want it to get released officially! theres a lot that i like in it, and i like seeing the changes that were made in the years between it and the full series.
also yeah the key guy is a very good puppet. i want to see more of him.
It would be such a shame to waste all the hard work that went into the pilot by not releasing it. They could just upload the whole thing on CZcams and clarify it as not canon.
Agreed. I'm VERY glad that the creative team were allowed/forced to go in a different direction from the pilot, as I'm not a fan of it either, but it would be a shame if it were never allowed to be released with the show as a curiosity, because there was absolutely some fascinating and entertaining material in there in spite of its flaws, and obviously everyone involved worked very hard to produce some very beautiful work... work that didn't always feel like DHMIS to me and left me a bit flat just a bit more than it worked, but beautiful work nonetheless.
As for the way things worked out instead, I think the weirdly abandoned, apocalyptic landscape from the "Transport" story, and the almost prison-like house where the characters are trapped in a literal NIGHTMARE suits DHMIS far better than the busy and heavily populated and playful Clayhill, while the more ambiguous political satire from the web-series and TV series as aired also seems to me to work in favor of the show better than the more direct fable from the pilot.
I do have to wonder what the series might have looked like had they kept going with the Clayhill setting and the more direct style - I don't THINK I would have enjoyed it much, but how would the team have adapted their style to it, and what sorts of stories might they have written for it? I wonder how many ideas they planned for the Clayhill setting got recycled into the TV series we saw?
I can't believe the team produced all the material we got to see in the finished show independently of their work on the pilot - they don't seem to work that way from what I've gathered from the odd test clips I've seen, and things like Red Guy's karaoke song from the web series, which suggest to me they create characters and develop their voices and personalities all the time, and make up funny songs and so on, then put them together into finished stories later on. (It kinda fits to me that they recycled several Clayhill characters into background characters, like the Shy Imaginary Older Brother and the Mrs. Grelch make-a-new-friend template, for the finished show!) I could imagine characters from the finished show, like the Insurance Safe, might have been developed for different stories with different roles before the change of direction, and got recycled for the show, for example. And, who knows? Maybe there's more to the Time Child than a (hilarious) one-off joke - he seems like he might have fit in really well with what we saw of Clayhill....

I love that you were able to find a snippet of the pilot keep uncovering theses pieces of obscure media, the script you manage to salvage sound weird and interesting because it sounds insane.

There are lots of little snippets of it out there - I downloaded several of them in pretty good quality, and a couple of mostly-complete full-length recordings in poorer quality, and managed to reconstruct a mostly complete copy of the pilot.. the copy I put together for myself from those bits and pieces has some audience noise through much of it, some scenes are pretty blurry, and the last couple minutes are someone else's very dodgy reconstruction from still images and stock footage, but it's close enough for me to see just about what the original pilot must have looked like. The key song is out there on CZcams!

Ok so I know the script is fake, but just IMAGINE if it was real??? Do you know how much confidence that would give me??? knowing writers I look up to so much can also make shitty first drafts full of boring dialogue and typos?????
Oh! trust me, even if that script is fake, a lot of great and popular artists in general also make shitty things. Its normal, its part of the creation process, usually they just post or show their perfected work, so usually we end up thinking that they only make perfect or refined things, but its not true! we all make wonky things sometimes, i realized this by being an advanced artist myself. If you only saw my finished polished works, youll think wow! this artist is so experienced, they must never make any mistakes at all! But if you looked at all the sketches, unfinished drawings, old drawings, and overall pieces im not that proud of, youll realize im not perfect really, but thats okay. Even if you carefully analyze some of my favorite pieces, you will be able to find mistakes! Im sure the DHMIS writers and artists have also created "shitty" stuff in their life, like all of us, and thats okay! And im pretty sure most scripts start pretty messy anyways. We're all at the same level, really. I hope this gives you back that confidence!

See, the dead giveaway for me that the pilot script "leak" is fake is that they didn't properly format the song lyrics. Standard formatting for song lyrics is writing it out line-by-line, often in all caps to indicate it's a song. But whoever made up this script just wrote out the lyrics as one paragraph, which few (if any) do, and considering Becky Sloan, Joseph Pelling, and Baker Terry's years in the business it seems highly unlikely they would do it like that.
As somebody who uses screenwriting software frequently and has been studying them for school, the most damning piece of evidence is actually the formatting which has clearly been done in Microsoft word, especially that the dialogue isn’t in the justified format.

Honestly, I'm glad the pilot got scrapped. I've seen it and it's not nearly as good as the show we ended up getting. I wouldn't mind it being released as a one-off non-canonical thing, but I hope season 2 of the new show doesn't stray too far from season 1.
The released TV show is good, yes. I agree with you. And the Pilot is objectively worse, however it still would be amazing to see the full thing to see how it turned out.

I remember watching the full episode somewhere on CZcams. Idk where but all I remember was the fact that one of yellow guys friends gives him a dog as a present and then (I think) the key kills the dog, also (I think) the key was toxic or semi toxic to yellow guy (idk though on that either)

You can find on CZcams a part of the pilot and it's all about that same lenght too; so sadly It's probably the same as those. I am guessing the full version is probably about 22 minutes like episodes of the actual series.

agreed 100%, i know some people don't care about the pilot because it's "not canon" or they think it's bad but i'd still love to see it one day. from what i saw, the songs were really good, the production quality was fantastic, and the jokes were really funny. it's clear so much hard work went into this and i hope it gets an actual release eventually, even if it takes a while

Pilot Duck’s eyes do look weird but I can’t quite place my finger on why. 🤔 I think it’s because they’re too wide and the irises are too small.

As someone who has written a load of scripts, that script is fake for a reason you never mentioned. Dialogue is always formatted to a column. Stretched dialogue is emblematic of Google Doc scripts. There’s no way a pilot script that went though actual studio production, written by people who have had success writing screenplays before on and offline (Gumball), was formatted that way even as an early draft. You literally can’t make that mistake in any screenplay writing software. They’re fool proof in that regard and it takes little effort to fix it.
On a side note, I really enjoyed how you dissected the screenplay here and the criticism is actually really useful for screenwriters and helpful for people just starting out to not make mistakes. Would love to see more content like this.
I've sort of lost hope on this leaking. The one who recorded it clearly hates it and their message reeks of teenage angst.
If it's a teen issue, surely in the future they'll grow up and possibly just go "fuck it" and release it at that point.
I haven't given up, I was able to acquire 3 cinematic quality clips of the Pilot so I'm continuing my search to complete the puzzle.

the situation makes complete sense as someone with experience of production companies, rights etc, but i do think that they should've at least clarified by now what's going on. it's not exactly a super recent thing with the lost pilot, speculation, and all this secretive stuff, and even if they actually just can't release the pilot due to ownership rights, they can be a bit clearer about what's going on in the world of dhmis! that being said, the concept of this lost pilot and all the discussion and hunting keeps people on their toes and engaged, so i wouldn't be surprised if they're not addressing it as they'd lose the audience actively involving themselves because of the mystery. either way, i do still think we should've heard something clearer by now about the situation.

If I was writing a script for a scene like that, I would write something like "and the round the door there can be very fast 1 frame images from previous videos" I would NOT write "and if you slow it down you can see clips from the CZcams series". That’s written from the audience’s POV, not the writer’s POV.

I actually thought the pilot was better than the show. I dunno, I just liked the idea of the punk milk bottle encouraging Yellow Guy to "smash the system", but anytime Yellow Guy does literally anything to disrupt the status quo, the milk bottle whines about it and tries getting him to stop, showcasing that it's all performative activism that only exists to sell a product (a product that ultimately consumes the movement by the end of the episode).

Nothing that happened in the pilot is considered canon anymore from what I can tell. From a recounting of the pilot I read by someone who'd seen it, apparently the number on Yellow Guy's birthday button sometimes changed from scene to scene. The most concrete information on Yellow's canon age my obsessive efforts have been able to reveal are just "he sure has one! :)".

I saw the first and second part of the leak, the second part got extremely hard to find, then the first disappeared too.
Tbh I don't really hate the pilot at all. They took time to make all them sets it must have been difficult to make that town a lot of money probley went into it too. They only thing that I hate about wakey wakey is the morgan sence. I also love the key puppet the eye moment freaking cool. I hope they put him in season 2..as well.

i am still skeptical that this isn't all according to plan. It feels too perfect. A show that is super in to hiding secrets in the small things, and lost media are total breadwinning combos. So to have a show start with a legendary lost episode pilot to a series that was cancelled before a totally different show ,just using the same characters , pops up with absolutely no explanation as to why the original show was cancelled. It's a set up. That company probably didn't actually go under, and just rebranded or possibly was already going to go under ,and through connections or cash played along with the scenario.

i am so happy they kept the three isolated from the rest of the world. it makes it so much more eerie and frankly, the series they ended up making is so deeply sociological instead of just political
My image might be fake but when I was super invested in finding the pilot, a video I think last year had photo reel of leaked shots and one of them was the key looming over duck and I still have that saved so I wanna help put that image to light if it is real.
When this is found, what will the ending look like?
