    Notion and Obsidian are completely different tools and not comparable. Notion is difficult to master and manage, making it highly inconvenient for personal use, especially for simple note-taking. While it's suitable for business and team use as an integrated tool for multiple simultaneous purposes, it's overrated considering that most users don't utilize it this way. On the other hand, Obsidian, while also versatile, is primarily suited for second-brain purposes like learning notes, journaling, and idea development.

    • @firaszerneboch3223
      @firaszerneboch3223 Před 7 dny

      The only thing I really liked about Notion is the lines and blocks that can be moved and you can VISUALLY organise your notes and links neatly, but it is not offering as much as Obsidian. I used Notion for a year, for half of which I started to use only Google Keep and tags. Later I tried Evernote which is increadibly rigid in terms of exporting, managing my notes and organising. I even paid for 2 months of premium to check out if I can stick to Evernote or not. Now I am sacrificing 2 days of my dayoffs to learn Obsidian and I can already see that it is a gamechanger. Notion is not even close to Obsidian, it just LOOKS easier than Obsidian, which is not the case - also when I used Notion, it was totally online... Obsidian is incredibly simple in terms of storing your notes locally on your harddrive which you can easily sync with mutplie cloud services - if you want.

    I just got into Obsidian a little over a month or go - coming from Coda. Trying to create a "Media Catalog" of all my photos and videos, I LOVE how Obsidian can link to files _on my hard drive_ and especially the Media Extended plugin where I can annotate my videos!! I'm loving Obsidian at this point in time - I just wish there was an available plugin that helps you rename your files and move them around to other locations etc., while keeping track of them all. (Gearing up to learn how to develop them myself...)

    I still use Obsidian as the main archive for my PKM, but have been using Heptabase both for journaling and a visual way to create connective thoughts. It has excellent integration with Readwise, and now has a Web Clipper to connect my notes to other sources. As a visual thinker, I find it better fits my workflow and it doesn't have any plugins which has been refreshing. so no tinkering and just get to note making. I don't know if I will ever give up Obsidian, but I'm glad I adapted the tools I use to work for me.

    It’s insane how i can feel fine and be completely productive on one day and then on another day i feel like what I’m doing is pointless. I feel like the true reason behind this is because i do not see the way in which what i am doing is contributing towards my future, and perhaps i am subconsciously perceiving that what i am doing has no purpose. But perhaps… the reason why i am seeing a lack of purpose in my productive hours (e.g. learning languages, doing work, writing essays, etc) is because i have some issue (that maybe i am not aware of yet) that i am not resolving in this moment and the work i am doing or the stuff i am doing is distracting from that? Either way, thanks for this video, this is excellent work and i really appreciate your advice!

    So, can I clarify... can I create lots of long documents in LogSeq or is it meant to be for short sharp snappy bits of content? For example, I am writing a 600 book on education in medicine, and there is lots of content from a variety of sources. Many big pdfs, some big word docs, some my own lengthy notes. Which is better for this? LogSeq or Obisidan?

Notion is a problem for me because it does not restore the backup function the way I saved it. Therefore, I have a big issue when working with databases. So...
