We thought you might like to get some ideas for places to visit from us and also thought we might pick some up from you guys too. Subscribe now if you want to Explore the North with us!
BETWS-Y-COED - Is it Worth Visiting this VIBRANT Welsh Village? | Pont-y-Pair Bridge & Swallow Falls
Join us as we explore the bustling Welsh Village of Betws-y-Coed, known for its ancient Pont-y-Pair bridge - built in 1468 - and nearby Swallow Falls waterfall. Also a popular meeting place for bikers in Wales and Conwy . The Victorian Village of Betws-y-Coed is set in the forest and is home to many shops including lots of outdoor activity shops.
We walk around the town, grab some Pizza and Ice Cream from the popular Pizzeria and Ice Cream Parlour. We also take in the beautiful Pont-y-Pair Bridge and also visit Swallow Falls top see if it is worth the £2 entry fee.
The railway at Betws-y-Coed is also well preserved and there is a great park for the kids to play and have fun! We also show you what shops are in Betws-y-Coed!
We truly feel that Betws-y-Coed is one of the best places to visit in North Wales with lots of things to do. It would be a great base for a holiday to explore the rest of the welsh countryside and coastline. In fact, Betws-y-Coed is also known as the Gateway to Snowdonia!
For our family weekend away we stayed in the nearby area of Blaenau Ffestiniog and visited other nearby towns and castles too - such as Porthmadog and Harlech Castle - so be sure to subscribe to see more videos like this.

Most enjoyable video. Thank you
So glad you enjoyed it 😊 Thanks
I live about 5 miles away from salts mill and used to drive past it on my way to work, but I can say I’ve never been to see it. Didn’t really think it would be as interesting as the video shows. So this summer I will make a trip there.
We were really surprised too. There was so much to explore 😊 Hope you enjoy your visit 👍🏼
Thanks for all your videos. Love watching them. Llanfair beach between Harlech and Barmouth town by the coast.. is a lovely long beach. Years ago there was a little Welsh chapel sinking in the sands amongst the spiky grass. Also you can see an inlet called ..Shell island .. where shells were collected to make figurines to sell in Harlech local shops at one time.😂 I have many memories of Snowdonia area, North Wales.
Thanks so much for sharing that! We really want to go back to the area and explore more places so we’ll definitely add that one to the list 😊 Sounds great 👍🏼 Glad you’re enjoying the videos too 😁
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking where IS Port Madoc then lol😂😂❤
Oh so great to see Harlech castle again. I'm 83 and living out of the UK. As a small girl from 1945 until I was 14, we went every year for 2 weeks holiday, it took most of the day on trains to get there. The train driver from Barmouth to Harlech station knew my dad, and used to send his mate down the train to give us tin mugs of hot strong tea. When I visited the castle itt took several goes to climb up to walk the top walls as my little legs used to give way at the top of the narrow stairs. The castle has changed a bit with a lot of commercial things. I guess to bring in funds for the village and Harlech Castle.Lovely views especially if you visit nearby the hill just outside the village which people photograph the castle from. Thank you again for happy memories.
So glad you enjoyed the video! It was a stunning castle and we were fortunate that the weather was good ☀️ Thanks for sharing your experiences too, always enjoy hearing people’s history with a place we’ve visited 😊
Thank you guys.
Thank you too!

What a gem! ❤
Certainly is 😊👍🏼
We walked around Porth a couple of years ago, but despite keeping a sharp lookout, never encountered a madog. Just unlucky, I reckon.
I was told later in the day that the locals simply call it Porth. Knowing that would have made life much easier in the video 😅
Thank you guys. Hope you’re all doing well?
Yes all good thanks! Hope you are too?
Might have alook down here today 😊
Hope you’re able to… It’s a lovely short walk 😊
@@exploringthenorth it's amazing
So happy you enjoyed it 😊
Such a shame Skipton Castle doesn't accept cash to look inside the castle.
I wasn’t aware of that, thanks for sharing.
You can park for nothing over the road from Pateley Bridge.
Sounds good to me 😊 Will put that on my list of places to visit 👍🏼
Hello, wow, what an interesting and beautiful tour, wonderful places, thank you for sharing, friendly like, good luck and all the best, have a great weekend🥰🥰🤗🤗
Thank you too and hope you had a great weekend 😊👋
Enjoyed the video , reignited my determination to visit Saltaire ,thank you
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it when you’re able to get there 😁
What a great looking place - worth a visit when I'm next up North! 😁
Hope you’re back up here sometime soon! 😊
If you are visiting by car there is also a very large, free car park to the east of the main mill building - follow the satnav/GPS for Salts Mill Road (postcode BD17 7DR) There are brown signs for 'Salts Mill' and the '1853 Gallery'. Titus Salt specialised in not just any old wool, but Alpaca wool!. The Mill building is a great place to shop for gifts with a book shop, a kitchen/homewares shop, a jewellery shop and an art and art book shop. The cafes inside are good. There is a David Hockney exhibition - both permanent and occasional ones. A pleasant and interesting place to visit.
Thanks so much for sharing, we had a really enjoyable time and looking forward to hearing more comments from those who have been or are planning to visit 😊
Extremely amazing place. I must visit. Thank you mate
It really is and hope you get to experience it soon 😊👍🏼
Great information as always 😊 I've never heard of such a prestigious place! Definitely one to visit. Thankyou
Thanks! We only came across it as we were in Bradford and had a few hours to spare… so glad we did. One of only two UNESCO World Heritage sites in Yorkshire apparently. Hope you’re able to visit one day soon 😊
Very nice little video. We are all in favour of free parking. I've got a nose for it and seek it out wherever I can find it.
It makes the day that much sweeter when you can find it 😁 Thank you

Picked a good day to visit. Great video. Always like to see videos of my home town. I love the place. It’s got bags of history. Cheers for taking the time to create and for sharing 👍🏼
Thanks 👍🏼 Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Beautiful village we, my Husband and I are keen walkers, a few years ago we decided to take the train from Leeds where we live, to Skipton. Then walk from the station to Gargrave using the canal path. A lovely leisurely walk, about 8 miles there and back to Skipton. There's also a beautiful church in Gargrave, lovely coffee shops and tea rooms, it's a lovely friendly English village.
Ive got nice summer photos of that spot with the stepping stones. Took them years ago when the missus could get out and about. Sadly not anymore.
Can't recommend this place enough. Our first visit to Yorkshire last year and I didn't want to come back to Glasgow 😢
Yeah Skipton is a lovely town! There are many more around Yorkshire too, so I hope you’re able to return and enjoy the area again 😊
Cars ruin all the beautiful towns and villages. I hate cars, I would ban them and make amazing cycle paths, also public transport would be first class style for everyone.
My wife loves looking at nostalgic pictures of how things looked many years ago with people travelling by horse and cart through old towns and villages. You’re right, it’s a very different world today.
Where is this paradise?
It’s the glorious Northern English Countryside 😊
I went up there with our kids many years ago. I loved climbing up next to the waterfall and amazed the limestone pavement. Thank you for your lovely video☺
So glad you enjoyed the video and lovely to hear your experience of Malham 😊 It’s a stunning place to visit and see the cove and surrounding waterfalls 👍🏼
Thank you for your beautiful video. I often go up Skipton as my relation is there. You captured all what I like about in Yorkshire. I'll check out other videos as you mentioned "Malham"! Hope I will see your dog in them as well☺
Thank you for the kind words and I’m so glad you get to enjoy The Yorkshire Dales often 😊 And yes our little dog will feature in other videos for sure 👍🏼

Skipton is a little gem- the castle is marvelous and the town is charming. There is also a railway station where you can get trains to Carlisle. This video made me dizzy- It showed you many pubs and wine shops, but very little about the town- I would not have recognized Skipton from this video
Yes, definitely worth visiting this town. The castle is marvellous, as too is the church next to it.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks guys.
