I think my problem with 2 , no one who talks about it sounds like they’ve ever played it lol… I like it , it’s requires a lot more focus than you think if you have to build characters a specific way. Not a perfect game, of course , but I just want someone to talk like they actually not played it for four hours and gave up

I know for final fantasy 1 to 7 sure a lot of todays generation would hate the games for being leval grinding heavy but that is why i like them you can camp around town gain levels buy potions and cure magic if need or low and you can go to the inn. I understand 2 being low out of the classic nes and snes games because of the lousy level up system although i did not really hate the level up system it was good only place it was flawed was getting hp. Since you have to take damage the magic made sense you run out you get more mp and the more you use your weapons and magic the better they get i just hate the idea of hitting your party members to try get hp faster what was square thinking hp should be the only going up auto when levelling up. lol 😆😂

Grandia does not look good. Things shake on the screen (whatever version you pick). You can see it in this video. It's just ugly. Definitely not timeless. That's why I have started it and had trouble wanting to play it. I do plan to play it due to the story and overall feel. But yeah, I think it's strange that someone would say the graphics look good (in any version)... Woobly sprites, boxy backgrounds...

dq 8 needs a definitive version cause 3ds version graphics sucks and ps2 random encounter also sucks , so a version with ps2 graphics and 3ds QOL improvements would be great.

Also, positioning controls when in combat don't seem to work in the PC version and in order to pick up a weapon it has to be directly between you and your target.

They're in no way is a Full English voice Dub. Less than a third is fully voiced in English unless there's a difference between console and PC versions. The story is very good and the combat is very grindy.

Oh but definitely with tactics chapter 4 is a big difficulty spike for casual players who are pretty much just playing the story without any extra grind.

Tough discussion here but I got goosebumps while you were talking about tactics, I have played it many times and many ways and you absolutely can become a God outside of Orlandu lol litterly my only gripe with tactics is I wish the AI was a bit smarter. But if the remake is true they will probably add an edited AI mode or a hard mode or something like that. 1 thing you forgot to mention in Grandia is how everything lvls up from your magic to your weapons and characters not a common element in Rpgs in general even today.

As a fan of the franchise I got this one on sale, I couldn't really get into it I feel its a step backwards I know other fans love the story of this 1 it didn't grab me enough unfortunately, lower lvl cap, less monster types fewer dungeons janky movement and combat, the rebirth neptunia games are litterly the best out of the series so far and neptunia 7 was also pretty fantastic, hopefully they kind of find a balance between the styles with future installments?

And I thought SAO Alicization Lycoris’ combat was wonky and slow. Wish they’d go back to the original circular grid turned based formula.

Bro I just finished playing every final fantasy game and I can confidently say the ff7 is easily the best, I am sorry but Sephiroth low key carries as my favorite character in final fantasy 7 but if sephiroth was not a thing I would probably like 14 ( call me weird it is such a good game)

Knight in the Nighmare gameplay is indeed pretty nightmarish. I want to know what the dev was thinking 😂 But when i think about it, all Dept. Of Heaven series are nightmarish. Are these game series actually an experimental games or something

Myyy brother FF7 I'd that to me as well, the first rpg and the game that made me fall in love with the genre I have no doubt that at 1 point I was the best player on earth in that game. I was mad out so completely I even knew exactly how to beat the ruby and emerald weapons post game. It was like first strike + autocast + 4x knights of the round summon to start. I think you have to go into the fight with 2 of you characters dead, but yeh I'm having soo much fun with the remake. Just finished intermission (too short) am impatiently looking forward to rebirth pc

Ephemeral Fantasia is criminally underrated. Yes, it's a bit obtuse(especially near the beginning), but once you get used to the areas' layout and really get things in motion it's a neat little adventure with a great gameplay loop. Every time you manage to form a bond with another new PC(complete there quest basically), they begin to retain their memories when the time loop resets just like the main character. It shuts off certain events and opens up others, allowing you to move the overall story forward. The 2 most annoying features of the early game - losing money/items and some of the travel) eventually get mitigated a lot - a fast travel ability you can gain access to within the first couple weeks that becomes more useful as you find map pieces, and a time-loop-immune safe that you can get access to maybe a week or 2 after that to store items/money so you don't lose them when the loop resets. For anyone not familiar with EF, it's a game with a time-loop that functions similarly to Majora's Mask. Every time you get to the end of the week(or die in combat) the loop resets, and your character is able to retain his memories. But depending on your actions certain items will persist and certain NPCs will start to retain their memory(prior to your arrival to the island, their memories are reset every week) and become PCs from that point onward. This results in permanent changes to the time loop and you being able to explore new areas(and explore much more freely) after the first couple in-game weeks. It doesn't hold your hand or give you a whole lot of direction, so I understand why certain elements would be annoying to a lot of people(myself included), but there's just something about it that's extremely interesting. I'd love to see a game with a similar time-loop concept that's less obtuse and with less maze-like area design.

I loved this game. I only watched 1 episode of the show before playing this so I didn't really know who the characters were or what was going on, but it was still super fun!

Completely disagree with Legend of Dragoon.

FF2 wasn't "random" leveling. You used equipment and leveled that stat. I.e using a sword leveled your sword, taking damage would increase your health since you toughened up through it. It isn't good, but it's far from random.

I surprisingly am enjoying my time with Trails of Cold Steel 1. It might not be action heavy but it really raises the bar in terms of characters.

I am going to vehemently call you out on bashing the SaGa series and Octopath as it is a completely different game and the series is KNOWN for being very difficult. Octopath strays far from this difficult path.

Ephemeral Fantasia was originally scheduled to come out on the DC so I wondered if there was a plan to have a Guitar Freak planned for the DC at one time or this was added after being moved to the PS2.

Funny, just like many others, I love Ni no Kuni, DQ7 is my favorite DQ, don't think SMRPG holds a candle to almost all M&L games, did enjoy Earthbound, and think WotL puts FFT to shame. Maybe these takes are to get more interaction in the comments section, idk?

I tried the PS5 demo and couldn't get into it. Visually it was cinematic and breath-taking, but gameplay-wise it felt like all I was doing was holding forward on the joy stick and stuff was happening around me. In-game character model never reacted to anything until I walked forward enough to get to the cutscene. Was a pass for me, though I did enjoy the music.

Instead of using the phrase "Just AWFUL!" in the video title, you could've been more honest and said "Just Not For Me" but we all know that makes a much less clickable title, even if it better reflects the opinions in the video. It seems pretty clear to me that you went into this game prepared to fail. You have little knowledge of the long running series and you seemingly expect it to rise to the heights of games like NieR Automata, one of the best action games of recent memory. Neptunia fans know when we purchase the newest Nep game that it's gonna have that B-tier JRPG level quality. We're ok with that, and we move on with our lives. When we come to a review we're looking to see how this game improves on what the last game in the series did and how it continues the world and characters we love. I can't really see why you picked this game to review. I know your channel has a focus on RPGs but if you've never played the other games in the series since PS3 (games which have been remade at this point), I can't see what compelled you to pick this one up other than seeing an easy slam-dunk review. I can guarantee any Neptunia fans looking for a review of this game that chose to watch this video over the others that exist on the platform just laugh at your complaints. "That's just Neptunia games, bro."

“Ni No Kuni” DEFINITELY holds up! It’s Studio Ghibli! The combat is a little odd at first but grows on you. And your familiars are basically Pokemon. “Doesn’t hold up”! (But I agree about “Earthbound”. Been trying to play that classic forever. Sooooo slow & boring)

are u crazy??? Natural Doctrine is till today my top 3 turn based game EVAAA. The graphics, map/characters design, music, gameplay are just awesome! plus it have a vs and coop mode where we can play as ANY enemy too! i love it!. The only thing I agree is that its way too hard and unfair. But to play vs a friend in vs mod is so damn fun. They should had had make a part 2 on ps5 and fix all the mistakes it had.

Me personally I found Dragon Quest 11s combat absolutely unbearable It would be different if there wasn’t a cut scene every single time you fight an enemy

I have only finished 1-10, but out of those, the top three for me are 7, 10, and 1. Good times! 😊
