People in the comments are mad this game isn't structured the way they want. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a brisk story that includes little to no padding. If thats a deal breaker for you than fine but don't act like its an inherent flaw when the game was designed that way from the start. Anyways great review! Im having a blast myself, Rosetta is my favorite character to play.

Something I also didn't know in addition until I unlocked postgame outfit colors: A few chapters in, they get a spiffy new armor to reflect a proper gear-up for the rest of the story, but if you want their default outfit, you can still switch to that.

I am in damn near awe at the combat. Masterful. Superb. Spectacular. A true joy to play and beautiful to look at. Just looking at it you'd be forgiven for thinking fights have devolved into nonsensical button mashing, but the intuitive playstyle and no-nonsense rapid action movement marches right up to the edge of bullet hell gaming but stops just short of madness.
Congratulations, Cygames, you magnificent bastards. You pulled it off and then some.

Solid review. I am farmingbthe final boss (Proud) and can say this is an exceptional game. I have platinumed all of the souls entries and some of the fight in Granblue are insanely difficult, until you learn the mechanics and gear up. That was frustrating to me a bit at first, but so were the souls bosses. The game only starts once the main story is over. If you like to build, and spend time grinding fun bosses for materials, your favorite character, GBR is such a great game.

The shorter than advertised story & lack of exploration will irk me, but overall Cygames did a superb job with their true GBF rpg. What this game deserves absolute praise for is on how it plays & looks. Seriously, even on PS4 it looks stunning! And the fact it will receive free DLC updates is a huge boon. I mean, NO gacha mechanics at all from the developers? Amazing really! Lastly, Persona 5's dungeons & UI are legendary, but I would never say it everything else in-game looks better than most rpgs of it's kind.

After waiting for almost a decade like you said, I am SO happy I have been enjoying this game thoroughly. My favorite thing about it is how differently all the characters feel and how deep you can go on the customization or if you’re a completionist this will keep you going for hours! I will say that the only reason I wish I could switch characters would be to trigger the correct element SBA. I’m not sure if the AI knows to use the weak element first or not but love this game and I thought this was a great review that highlighted the best and not best things about the game.

The story isn't the focus. I don't know if it was in the mobile game, but I'm fine with that. It's a fun game with a lot of cool looking characters. First of all: to each its own. Now, with that said, I can't believe (I mean literally) how many people I've heard saying things like "Everything we were waiting for" and such. Why? Because, do you really want me to believe that what you expected from the trailers from way back when was a story who starts after a 2 season anime? (I've watched it and it was clearly part of the game. The structure is 100% videogame and, Jesus, it is even called "The Animation" like every anime adaptation ever), or even that you expected a really short game? (in terms of a JRPG, I mean). Come on! that's not what they sold to us and we all know it.

They would have severed better as actual side quests to flesh out the crew in a more meaningful way! Heck, they could have had some of the characters backstory available to play to help further the engagement!
Because the combat is so freaking good, it makes it extra sad that the story falls short!

The very first Fate Episode (read voiced text scene) of the protagonist really says all you need to know.
Gran/Djeeta and Vyrn were hanging out in their home continent. Katalina worked for an Empire that imprisoned Lyria and she freed her, escaping to the MC's continent. MC met Lyria, tried to defend Lyria, got their ass beat and Lyria shared her life force with them to revive them (which also gives them their fancy Bahamut summon).
Cue episodic adventure with the main overall goal of finding the protagonist's father at the edge of the world someday and this game is just another small journey on that path.

Was his review payed for by the devs?
im not a hater in any way, I didnt particularly like the demo of this game despite really trying to, the monotony sets in really fecking fast, everybody has done everything this game does in a million other games.
incredibly fun? The demo involves mashing square ,sometimes triangle for the sake of mixing things up abit, over and over and over and please end, it was so dull, set in a boring , bland, cliche fantasy world.
'the AI revive you instantly, making it even more enjoyable,' so zero consequences for dying? Can you not die at all? Is there any point then? Some people like this kinda thing I guess but, I think there needs to be at least some risk/reward going on.
The chain attacks never got boring? Its watching the same cut scene over and over, and over and over and how exactly?
the devs went all out and made a hub area to walk around in? How long did the game take to make again? Praise the devs for such dedication , selflessness and creativity.
18 characters to level? Sounds like a lot of content, in practice, I suspect its gna be a monotonous grindfest that the most dedicated of people will struggle to do just the one.
The game Auto equips newly crafted weapons? For real? Some next level alien technology features going down there!
Auto teleporting to hand in quests and go to vendors- although yet another cutting edge feature never before seen in gaming, what about exploring the hub area that the devs poured there souls into? Wouldnt a menu just be easier then?
Skipping cutscenes actually gives you a summery of what happened in the cutscene you just skipped, so, instead of watching the cutscene, read it instead? Obviously. Instead of playing the game, don't bother instead! xD
Auto play mode easily beating mobs ten levels above? Speaks for itself really.
I dont mean to sound negative but I kinda do because I kinda am because this game sounds absolutely terrible.

Most of the stuff you talk about being a problem is only unlocked once you finish the story and get into the post game like fast travel
Move sets also depend on the characters and they do have combo paths so its not just mash for everything
The versatility of the equipment is enough to where it would totally change how a character plays
Story is pretty easy but the difficulty curve ramps up in post story
Auto combat is only available in low tier quest just because grinding is a thing it is a Granblue game after all its just sticking to its roots in a way

It's just a simple point of reference. Reviews do it all the time.
I get people get tired of Persona 5 praise but it wasn't "this game isn't persona 5 so it's bad"

@@brandonsclips7741 It is still a wierd point of reference, since P5 ui is literally tailored to fit the Persona brand of artstyle.
Again as I point out in my previous comment, no reviewer goes to review a Final Fantasy fame, Kingdom Hearts game, Monster Hunter hunter game, etc etc. And try to comapare their ui to P5. Since even if you put a P5 esque UI in a FF game it won't work well since it will clash with FF aesthetic.
Like Even if I limit the option to just turn base jrpg I did not find a single review expecting the UI in a Trails game, Atelier game, etc. Etc. to even remotely look like a P5 ui much less compare them in the first place.
Like it would make sense if it was like Neo TWEWY we are talking about since a lot of the game to overlap with P5 ui style.
Like I admittedly love the P5 ui but I can tell you this, it is not something that is generally applicable to just any games and slapping it to just any games won't make it work. That stylistic UI mostly work if the game artstyle in the grand scheme of things fits and complements that ui.
The same thing goes for GBF. Like GBF though more nicher than FF has an already established artstyle that can people look back to for reference. You have the Versus games and Gacha game. And if a review at least reference those then it make sense why Relink ui looks the way it is.
Like the comparison was out of left field ridiculous. It's like expecting a non open world game to have an exploration at the level of Botw.😊
And I will point out again, it did not really bothere me whatsoever or that if made an impression of "It's not p5 ui = bad".
I just find it funny how they got compared in the first place. Like lol. Hey Nier Automata good, the UI is simplistic and do complement the Game Aesthetic and has that Yoko Taro feel to it. BUT "It ain't P5 though"😄😄😄
Like why would someone think of p5 ui in a game that at even surface value judgement don't have a style that will fit said ui.

    • @UltimaKeyMaster
      @UltimaKeyMaster Před 3 měsíci

@@brandonsclips7741 Absolutely positively *nothing* of this game's UI resembles Persona. When you're making a review and you bring some other product up, it's a point of comparison. That comparison has to actually make sense. And it doesn't here because *nothing* has Persona influence here, unless we're trying to say something wacky like Persona somehow invented group cut-ins.
Persona is also not a magical end-all-be-all objective top of the mountain for RPG's. It has its style which yes other games have worn the influence on their sleeve (Sakurai literally admitting it for Smash Ultimate for example), but randomly going "this ain't no Persona 5" with ZERO explanation is a meaningless comparison. What the hell does P5 magically do better in its UI than this game to make that comment?
And for my own opinion: Everything that's used that style since I call better than P5 because P5's hard black-and-red contrast makes my eyes bleed, it's so uncomfortable to read. So Smash and P3R have since done it better.

This game is extreme pure artificial difficulty. Bad hitboxes, bad boss design, all the game does is throw up billions of AoE's and spamming a million mobs so you get hit off screen constantly, then the bosses get huge invincibility windows and throw up even more AoE's. Artificial Difficulty to the max. Off screen attacks, stunlock, the dodge sucks and is not reliable. Very poor game design and it's not a real difficulty but an artificial, the boss fights are so bad and unfair in the story, I didn't even care about the cutscene becasue I was so disgusted at the fake sad excuse for "difficulty" in these fights.

This JRPG was in development for 8 years.
Only 2 cities. 100% of side quests are kill this/bring me that.
Only 15 hours of story. 20 more hours and ive finally farmed all trash to fully upgrade ONE character. Out of 19. Whats the point of such diverse cast when you need so much time to make them useful. I have no idea how many quest ive still have locked. Doesnt matter because despite fully upgraded char the difficulty spike is so huge that id need 3 more fully upgraded npcs or be lucky enough to meet some leveled up players.
Still doesnt matter because all "new" enemies are reskined/stronger/paired together versions of the same dozen bosses.
Thers no reward at the end of this grind. No story bits. Just more enemies to kill. Higher numbers on the screen.
This game literally should have adnotation that 80% time will be spend on mind numbing pointless grind.
I didnt pay full price for an jrpg to get a fu.. Monster hunter game with little story and 1000 times more fights that bring nothing interesting to the game.
If you have nothing to do with money then thers no problem. But for this price i expected a little more story than for one weekend of playing.
    8 years.15 hour campaing.
    Just fu.. incredible.
