China expands its Influence in Europe - Geopolitics Snapshot #2
Welcome to Episode 2 of the Geopolitics Snapshot, where we take a look at current geopolitical events that are shaping the world around us!
This time we take a look at China's president Xi Jinping's visit to Europe - specifically to France, Serbia and Hungary. This was his first visit to the continent since 2019, and the situation between China, the European Union and other European countries has changed quite a bit since then.
In Paris, Xi Jingping met with French president Emmanuel Macron and President of the the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, where they discussed issues like Chinese 'Overcapacity', Russia's invasion of Ukraine and trade relations.
Afterwards, Xi flew to Belgrade where he met with Serbia's president Aleksandar Vucic. Chinese-Serbian relations intensified quite significantly in the last years and during the visit, Serbia become the first European country to join China's "Global Community of Shared Future" Initiative. Another topic was the 25th anniversary of the bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade during the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.
Lastly, Xi visit Budapest where he met with Victor Orban where both leaders agreed to intensify relations and entered a strategic partnership. Soon, Hungary hopes to become a European hub for Chinese electronics, batteries and electric vehicles.

As a South Korean, the Dokdo issue should be viewed as a combination of North Korea and South Korea. North and South Korea are always in the news about Dokdo. 1.North and South Korea went through Japanese colonial era in 1905 2. At that time, Dokdo was also forcibly invaded 3.After Japan declared abandonment in 1945, Dokdo became Korea's under international law 4.Therefore, Dokdo is being guarded by the Korean police. But Japan says that Korea is illegally occupying. 5. Most importantly, there is too much evidence that Japan described Dokdo as Korean territory. Dokdo is not a disputed territory. Hey, sorry but this is an extremely superficial overview of the Russian-Georgian conflict and fits well into Russian propaganda. What type of negotiations are you referring to - Russia is a terrorist state who wants to invade all of its neighbours.. We have seen this very clearly with the war in Ukraine. It never sticks to the negotiations and never fulfils its duties. It is extremely dangerous to spread such disinformation in very critical times for Georgias democracy and sovereignty. Georgian people are fighting for the right to exist, the government is pro-Russian which is the root for all the problems. P.S. Georgian people fully support Ukraine in this war, Georgians rank first among foreign fighters in Ukraine. Check your facts first . The only reasons that Georgia has not imposed restrictions on Russia is because the governments is pro-Russian, this in fact sparked a great unrest in the country, which is still ongoing. But everything will change after this year's government's elections in October.

A little correction here: in the 11th century Abkhazia wasn't populated by Abkhaz people, they migrated there in 16-17th centuries from northern Caucasus. Abkhazia and South ossetia (historically called Samachablo) were always dominantly Georgian populated.
