Beautiful rendition of Snake River Reel by Brad. Just took possession of a CC-Carlin a couple of days ago. I am a complete newbie to clawhammer but have played acoustic guitar for longer than I care to remember and also play Celtic tenor banjo. From bitter experience and from Brad's demo of this lovely banjo I decided to go for the Carlin rather than a cheaper budget model. I know full well that if I went with a cheap beginner's banjo within a few months I would be trading it in against an upgrade, losing £££s in the process - buy well, buy once! The newer models differ slightly in that they have a darker rosewood fretboard - a slight disappointment as the fretboard in Brad's demo has a nice reddish/brown tint - certainly not a dealbreaker though. The new models, however, have traditional planetary style tuners which I prefer to the guitar-style tuners on the older model (although this is a purely cosmetic consideration). The sounds I'm getting out of it at the moment would make a wonderful soundtrack for an 'insane clown' horror movie...but it would be a soundtrack with a lovely warm tone!
