I'm a little confused about this tuning. You're tuning the 5th up to D (from G or A, depending on what you're tuned to)? I have a gourd fretless that I made--it's usually tuned in double C--and I don't know what would happen if I cranked that 5th string up a whole fifth! I love this tune and you're playing is so awesome! Keep up the great work! I really appreciate that you make all this content available to help those of us on the old-time banjo journey!
great tune and playing! at first i thought you were truly sitting in the middle of the road, i was concerned your gourd on your shoulders and lap were gonna get smashed if a car came down that road! LOL keep the awesome videos coming.
Superb sense of rhythm…really impressive.
Such a beautiful haunting sound. Love the low slide!
Couldn't agree more about this being the one tune I'd play if it came down to it. Also, if it was the last tuning I could ever have, haha.
It's a lovely tuning, try it sometimes and see where it takes you!😊
Great ! Finally I will start working on that tune !
great song, great player, great banjo, papa brads

Ah, the strings on this banjo are actually tuned down - not up. They’re a heavier gauge and meant to be low tuned.
Thanks for the kind words!
Got you!! Thanks. Does this tuning have a name?

Seems to me like tuning down 3 steps from the old f tuning is the sweet spot for that great sounding gourd. What strings do you prefer for that banjo?
i haven't heard that tune in fifty years.
It’s played a lot in my part of North Carolina.
Yo who’s your banjo dealer?
What is the microphone ur using?
Looks like a Ear Trumpet Edwina
