Ants in the Honey Jar • When I planted the crabapple tree behind me eight years ago, it was about six feet tall and pretty scrawny. Today, it’s loving life having soared to nearly 20 feet with the most gorgeous pink blossoms in spring. If you listen real close, you can almost hear the hum of the hundreds of honeybees feasting on its pollen • I wrote this tune at Clifftop years ago while watching countless ants crawling in a honey jar that hadn’t been properly closed. There’s a little piece of foam under the bridge for a muted effect. I learned that little trick from my banjo idol Richie Stearns

Reminds me of something you would hear in adventure land in Disneyland or something!

A tune to pair with Hank Bradley’s “Beasties in the Sugar.” Nicely done.

Neat sound with the foam. A friend of mine does that with his bass, too.
Now to go check that all the honey in the house is properly secured ...

Love the muted tone and beautiful tree. I'm considering a Gold Tone CC Carlin 12 or a Deering Artisan Americana, would you recommend either to a novice player? Many thanks

Hi, I also had this doubt when buying my second banjo. I would recommend the Goldtone. Take a look at my channel if you want more info about it, i have some uploads and a review of the banjo. Take care now

You wrote this? I found it last night and have been slowing it down to learn it. Before I read that you wrote this, I looked on my other Patreon pages and wondered why no one had taught it! Then I read that your banjo idol is Richie Stearns...as is mine. He lives in my neck of the woods and teaches at Grassroots every summer. Been following you and your slow jams for years...I think I am long past due in joining your Patreon. I have learned way too many songs from you for free. Thank you
