2019 Elco Vlog 2

Today I got a few pesky problems taken care of on the Elco. Got rid of a high speed vibration, plugged a coolant leak, and fixed the headlight bucket. Aka fender extension.
2019 Vlog 1

Time to finish some repairs and upgrades to the El Camino in preparation for the 2019 Power Tour. The first project is to install throttle shaft bushings in the carburetor.
Scrapmetal Series Vol 1 TIG Welder Shelf

I show how to use scrap aluminum to create a shelving unit for the top of my TIG welder.
DIY Toe Jack

Here I take a common bottle jack and use some leftover steel to make a toe jack to be able to lift my lathe and mill and other machinery as I get it.
Chevy Turbo 350 Failure Root Cause Anaylsis

This time in the shop I have a 1981 Chevy K10 4x4 that will not move forward. Watch me go through the diagnosis process on this Turbo-Hydramatic 350. And I find that the devil is in the details, a small little part caused allot of damage to this transmission.
Ultimate Small Welding Table
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 6 lety
Here is a review of my version of the Ultimate Small Welding Bench. I built this unit about 4 years ago, and it has been incredibly effective. And the great thing about a weld bench is that I have a welder, and if I want a new feature installed, I just weld a new piece on. I hope this inspires you to make your own ultimate weld bench.
DIY Machinery Skate Build
zhlédnutí 11KPřed 6 lety
I build some DIY home shop machinery rollers or skates to move heavy equipment around in their garage. These are to move my lathe and mill around the workshop. With them I can move a 3000 pound machine by myself with little effort.
Floor Jack Handle Repair
zhlédnutí 16KPřed 6 lety
Here I repair a broken floor jack handle. A little CAD design, some saw cutting, lathe work and TIG welding.
TIG Filler Rod Holders
zhlédnutí 2,1KPřed 6 lety
Today I took some time to make up some more TIG welding rod holders. These are fairly low cost PVC tubes of different sizes to keep my welding rod protected and organized.
DIY Plier Storage Rack
zhlédnutí 89KPřed 6 lety
Time to get back to the Harbor Freight 44" tool box for some organization. Time to get the plier drawer into shape. Here I will build a DIY plier organizational rack out of some 20 gauge sheet metal. It could be done with less and quicker, but the point of being in the shop is to make something yourself, and to use and learn about your tools. Thanks for coming along.

Gosh, I’ve been trying to figure out the same thing on my 78 gmc pickup and guess what, I checked the fluid all the time, said it was full. But my dipstick is completely missing that cap, so the dipstick is not even sitting in the right position at all. Gosh, really unfortunate you have basically confirmed that my transmission is burnt up. Thanks! Side note, I very much appreciate the video, if I rebuilt it, I would have never even realized the dipstick issue haha thanks!

This item is a very useful item. These days people are buying heavy container boxes and using them to build small homes. I am sure at one point they will need to lift that box and put a foundation or a cinder block to lift it above ground. This is when this tool can be really useful. I have to build this myself. Great work.

I enjoyed your video. I may build something similar. I think it important to eliminate any side load on the jack's piston, it was not engineered for that. I think you said that you might add a metal strap , to prevent outward movement of the slide, this is the way to go as it would eliminate side load on the jack's piston. I would also elongate the jack positioning hole, to ensure that all side load is not against the jack's piston. Thanks for sharing.

0.019" runout? Such is precision machinery from China. China can't even produce steel that can hold up under machine precision tolerances. I've got one question: Why does China have 17,000 miles of bullet trains, and America has none?

  • @AdamMGTF

Ive been looking for ideas to better organise my box and something just dawned on me. All the videos about this are from Americans (or perhaps Canadians). It took me ages to realise why but now its so obvious. You guys have to buy twice or three times as many tools as the rest of the world as you have to have various imperial units. It must suck for my mechanic/engineering colleges across the ocean. Still enjoyed the video, interesting to see a 'good enough is enough' approach

I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great czcams.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

I have well over 10,000 miles on my trailer. Last summer a bearing seized and made the tire blow which then ground the rim down. I always way over load the trailer so all that heat sent the rim sparking across two lanes of traffic on rte76 into the divider and straight up in the air with a tail of sparks. Ti make a long story short I was able to get it home by taking another axle from a welding trailer I was building and replacing the 1,500 pound axle on the trailer. Later I replaced the axle with a 4,500 pound axle and it was the best thing I ever did for it. I wil be closing the c channel off with welded steel to strengthen the tongue and front frame of the trailer.

  • @raymondjastrzab4715

Of all of the designs that I've seen on CZcams, I like yours the best. I do have two questions though, first, how did you fasten the angled wedges? I'm guessing from underneath. Second, it seems to me that all of the car's weight is on the 1/2-inch plywood. Shouldn't there be an upright two by 4 or 6 under the center of the plywood for safety's sake?

    • @r.j.sworkshop7883
      @r.j.sworkshop7883 Před rokem

The wedges are screwed from the underside with some small screws as well as some wood glue. The are small and just there to help center the vehicle, I don't rely on those to be wheel chocks. So the vehicle is always in gear or park. And yes, there is no vertical upright down the center of the stand. Would it be stronger? Yes. Is it needed for my application? No in my opinion and experience. The distance to a vertical support from any point on the platform is so short that I have had no concerns with them. But by all means, take my design and make it yours. Add and subtract as needed. Thanks for watching.
