Now I’ve had a zojirushi rice cooker( baby elephant) I can’t imagine life without it. If it ever dies I’ll replace it because I can’t go back to cheap rice cookers. I do wash my rice in a separate rice washing bowl to help preserve the rice cooker removable pan for as long as possible. My sone uses Chinese sausage in his rice for a meal after a hard day at college. I love tomato and mushroom rice. However eve;just making any of the several types of rice all work well in this cooker.

Thank you for taking the time to produce this video. I am a second generation Japanese born in U.S., but only now learning how to make Japanese food. I am fascinated by delicious and beautiful Japanese food, desserts, along with its culture and history. Your videos are more informative than the cook books I've been purchasing lately. The books give recipes (with wonderful stories and pictures), but you provide additional instructions on how and why. I believe I can figure out what to do even though you have a free-style way of cooking (not using measurement cups or spoons). We need more Japanese food culture in the U.S. because many of these wonderful foods, besides the popular ones (Teriyaki, Katsu, Sushi, Tempura, etc.), are not familiar here. I appreciate your Japanese word lessons (like "Katsuretsu"), help with pronunciations so we don't sound like silly foreigners, explanations of the food products, and your family life with wife and children make your videos enjoyable and your singing makes cooking fun!

Hello! I just received and cooked my rice for the first time in a Zojirushi rice cooker and it was INCREDIBLE, like eating a cloud. I just have a question. The manual specifies I shouldn't cook anything in it aside from rice and cake, so I'm a bit scared of putting anything else in it. Still I really want to try all these recipes... Will my rice cooker break or malfunction if I cook these recipes? My model is NLBAC05SB for 3 cups

I agree with brown rice. I soak it first. It helps cook it. Whenever I don’t they come out as “uncooked” and you feel some hardness to the rice still.

I wash my rice in a wire mesh strainer. It comes out fine. I don't recommend cooking other things in there, with brown rice. I find the things get overcooked and the brown rice does not properly cook through. Thanks for the recipes.
