Hi I'm Rick!
Welcome to the channel.
Originally a channel to record the restoration of my Austin Allegro I soon found I had to diversify to continue my CZcams journey, You’ll now find other modes of transportation that interest me on here & more of my general life experiences, so on the channel you may also see what I get up to day to day, or just see me chatting about life.
Be assured I'll always make the title and thumbnail appropriate to the video so if you're only here for the cars or trains you can ignore the rest. I currently own and run 2 cars, AGATHA is a 1978 Austin Allegro 1300 Super & VERA who’s a 2012 Kia Venga. I do have use of another car too (a 2018 Kia Venga) which is occasionally featured and a van (Fiat) The van can be found on it’s own channel “Rick and Heather Campervanners”
Occasionally friends may send footage to me to host here (my old cars for example)
Please subscribe & leave a comment on a video I respond to all of them!

So ive got a Focus 2.0 st diesel 2017 Stage 2 240hp & 580nm Ive hit 67 mpg I going to drive to Madrid from yorkshire On less than 78 litres of diesel, less than £125
It was a herald, not a vitesse. Also the chevette was an extra rare HSR and one of the finest on display you never even mentioned was the black Vauxhall Cresta
As I said it was all on the fly with no research and time to check anything
Ive never seen anyone charge at a buckeye coupling before, complete eejit. Ive been a shunter on a heritage line for a number of years and never dealt with and seen cowboys doing it like this. If all else fails open both buckeyes up and slowly approach and squeeze up, shunter listening for the pins to drop
Why didn’t they close the coach buckeye and open the loco’s?
This driver is dangerous. No wonder it’s not coupling, he’s hitting it far to fast and he’s setting back way too far
Now you got me worried with that new Bachmann they are releasing with the auto coupler or maybe that’s just getting Model Railway locomotives absolutely accurate
I'm almost screaming at the screen 'The pin of the coach is not dropping', that was after the first attempt.
The coupler is known as a buckeye. I was down the Swanage railway a couple of weeks ago on the diesel gala getting my free train rides.
You don't keep trying. Couple of goes that's it. Drop the Buckeyes and use the emergency screw coupling.
0:12 What's with an Eastfield depot plate on a 33?
Yep bc u not the USA so it's telling you that you can't us them 😂😂😂lol
A very under rated loco
On such a straight portion of track, only needs 1 knuckle opened. The carriage's knuckle is failing to remain closed correctly. First failed coupling should have caused crew to open loco's knuckle, second to manually (by hand) try closing the carriage's knuckle-if successful, then reopen loco's knuckle and connect on third attempt, if unsuccessful straight onto the backup screw coupler. No need for bouncing into it that many times like a madman before eventually going for the screw couplers.
Cool idea, classics in the street. Nice. You were close but no cigar I'm afraid, it's Gilbern not Gilbert. Yeah, I know , picky picky. Happy Birthday.
Close but no cigar hey!
rick that blue 3 wheel pick up was a reliant ant
Should have used tension lock couplers
Closing the auto on the carriage - open the auto on the loco. Why wasn't that tried ?? Fairly obvious there was an issue with the carriage coupler.
What a result on your holiday. Was a Reno16TX , my mum in laws caught fire when we borrowed it 🤦🏻♂(1984,ex mum in law 😂) Car of the show for me would be the Escort van 👍
Yeah the van was great but the mk3 cortina was special
Well done Ricky, bonus birthday video! My wife never believes me when we 'stumble' upon a classic car show 😂
It’s her itinerary we’re following on the tour so I’m safe!
Wonderful video Rick! Looks like you had a very nice birthday! Belated birthday wishes!
Thank you very much!
Happy belated birthday Rick, wish I was so young !!! Im pushing towards 70 lol, loving your video s of Scootland, Mull of Galoway, and now ,Inverness aways brings back memories for us , the Mk 1 Cavalier,s we had a 2ltr in the orange tan simulator to the one you filmed, we towed our Swift caravan all around Scotland, staying around Inverness, black Isle many times.
Loads of videos to come on the camper channel over the next few weeks 👍
That was great Rick, enjoyed that, you don’t see many classic car shows on a high street, very apt really as one time that’s where you’d have seen some of them back in their day, on the side of a street or driving along a Mai road. For me the experience of a classic car is being able to see, hear and smell it, which you did there. That 3 wheel pickup btw is a Relianf Ant. Thanks again Rick.
Cheers buddy yes a nice surprise 😊
Some great cars, spotted my very first in there, the Hillman Super Minx estate. Nice Mk1 P6, I always thought the earlier none power steering model drove nicer. The GMC Astro van, we had one as a daily driver for over ten years and it is probably one of the best vehicles we have owned. Chris.
Cool, thanks!
Great impromptu car show. Wonderful P reg Cavalier mk1 coupe, there is a Scottish garage importing mk2 Escorts, so maybe where those 2 came from
Maybe, good to see tho!
Some great cars, nice impromptu video. Happy Birthday 🎉
Thank you 🤗
As a guard on the NYMR in the 1990's on even the slightest curve we always opened both buckeyes
I find it amusing people in 2024 still talk about 'Em Pee Gee' when fuel has been dispensed by the litre for over 30 years. MPG means nothing. You pay for the fuel by the litre. So the only logical measure is litres per 100 kilometres which actually measures fuel CONSUMPTION hence is a direct measure of efficiency and economy . . .
Interesting video, thanks guys 👍🚂
Love that sulzer bellow
Great communications skills, tradesman skills very enjoyable. I am buying mgf 's for peanuts because of the head gaskets and hydrlastic suspension, so by using the alternative thermostat from the Landover and a canister of silicone glue sorted.
Nice one Rick, cheers, glad that Agatha’s wheels weren’t about to fall off 😁 Is a bit of a mystery though with that noise, as you said though you will have to take the joint off to take a closer look at it. Seems a simple job changing rear shocks, personally I despise working under any car, I have a phobia of it. It’s suprising with some cars, especially cheaper cars how proper servicing falls by the wayside, when you’r looking for a used car so many are probably overdue their cambelt for example, oil gets changed and that’s it.
Luckily the Venga is a chain and has no service schedule
@@AgathaAndAnything That’s good, I tend to go for cars or vans I know have a cam chain, you usually know if a chain needs changing, it’s gets very noisy. Belt’s just snap as you know, without any warning. My van has a belt but I have proof it was changed recently.
nice work rick
Was a bit rushed but time is tight
I had a bit of a knock on the drivers side and it was a brake pad that was moving about. There was also a bit of play on my shock absorbers and changed both so they wear evenly. I even painted them before the garage put them on.
No shocks on this but could possibly be brakes as it is dragging a little mmm as I said I need more time to check
Do fannys run 🤔😂 Never enough time ( or energy) eh
I’ve seen videos where they gush….
@@AgathaAndAnything 😂😂
Been a busy chap Ric, he must be thorough if he found an inch off the bottom of a spring and now you know the car is ok too.
Yeah he’s a good chap, not too dear really.
Atleast the kia is done, I did the springs before with those spring clamps..... does feel dodgy as fook but it works and if cash is tight, very doable at home. Not sure what's up with Agatha but if you whip off the drive shaft, you'll have a better idea of what is wrong with it, nice shed to work in, so can be done abit at a time 😊👍🇮🇪
@terryatkinson3182 I’ve done them with loads of cable ties… proper scary 😂 but I can’t be arsed now. Garage is good yeah I can look when wet/cold
Visited here last year, amazing place, as you mentioned not as big as you may think but big enough to see the cars we remember from those era’s. I drove that white coupe Marina, it’s a 1.3 series 3. I’m waiting until they have that Maxi or the blue princess 2.2 available to drive that you saw with the “Trapezoidal” headlamps I think the shape is called. It’s a good afternoon out, nice run through the Derbyshire countryside and a good place for car meets. I noticed the ITAL wasn’t there this time, probably put away into storage, I think your right, you do see more when your not walking around with a camera/camera phone. Good vid as always mate.
Cheers, yeah there were a few “missing” but I guess they have to rotate, I must admit I’d like to drive a few of my old cars again for the memories. That said driving round at 20mph with a chaperone isn’t my ideal option 🤣
@@AgathaAndAnything Yeah I know, but you get a half hour with the car and you kinda get the basic feel of it, you only get to drive a car unsupervised if your invited by the museum personally and I think you have to have to have around 5000 subs I think, I asked them as I noticed Matt from furious driving driving a car unsupervised.
I don’t think I’ll get 5000 on this channel!
@@AgathaAndAnything Neither will I 🤣
Great video. This is like a sweet shop for car enthusiasts! On a side note, does anyone know what a very nice MK3 Escort should be insured for on an agreed value policy?
Can’t help on the Escort other than maybe join a Facebook group and ask? Glad you liked the video I appreciate you making a comment 🙏
The hubcaps on that brown Clubman look a bit odd. You can just glimpse them. Looked sticking/bulging out. Loved that Allegro Estate.
Yes they were….
wow a real trip down memory lane thanks. passed my driving test 1st time so dad got me a morris oxford for my 18th birthday. it was british racing green with grey leather seats had to sit on a cushion to see over the huge steering wheel. So wish I still owned it.
I would love to own some of my old cars too!
Hi Rick.regarding the headrest issue you raised for Agatha. Are they cloth ,vinyl, or leather?
Mine are cloth, a sort of velour
Ok, mgb are single stem similar and same shape , unfortunately they are only available vinyl or leather. Being Leyland they would have been a universal Leyland part as well .
Some great stuff in there. Had at least 3 Dolly sprints , adore them.. So all those cars belong there?
They do, it’s a one man collection
Lucky man
Thank you for taking us that cannot get out much to these places, loved it thank you x
You’re welcome 👍
love the blue princess
2.2 6 cylinder one. Very nice
The idea with the Clubman fronted mini, obviously that was a “Mini” and then a larger very similar looking “Maxi” but it all seams to have got lost somewhere… lol Ohh n the Mk3 cortina was at the side of a FD Victor (my 1st car) 😊
Gotcha, sorry I didn’t film them all!
@@AgathaAndAnything no worries, I was there day b4 Easter… 😊
Thanks for sharing. It was like a trip down memory lane for us. We started in a Morris Minor, followed by a underpowered 1300L Capri with furry seat covers that gave a nasty static electric shock everytime we got out.
You’re welcome it was a great day out 👍
