Can you adjust the air pressure of your air tools?

I have an idea based off using heat from a Peltier unit used to cool a room, or a fridge etc, and water cooling the hot side, and using that heated water to heat floors. Thoughts?

Nice that you offer us an insight in your way of life. I am from the Netherlands and we are orienting on building our own passive house. Although we have a different climate zone, much of what you aimed for is applicable here. I have a few questions that you might want to answer. It looks very dark inside, is that the case or to blaim on the filming? It looks like you have a lot of windows that can be opened. In a passive house that is not really necesarry. Is there a reason why you chose for it? It looks like the footprint of the house is abput 100m2 (1000 sgf). Is that a good estimate? If so, it is amazing how well you organised all the functions in that space.

Use Web floor trusses and channel HvAC and plumbing through these. And keep your open floor plan manageable such as 26x50 feet. Then small bump out rooms such as 13x14’.

Ok bro, 3:23, how on earth is the MOISTURE going to transfer from incoming air to out going air? The moisture is going to magically transfer through the solid walls of the ERV?

Question: we have 2k sqft of radiant water heating, but run with propane. Very expensive. We are thinking to use a heat pump. Thoughts on switching propane for a heat pump?

I really love the construction industry and see how much potential there is, my longterm goal is to own my own business that can possibly function with out me. My plan is to first work for a successful home remodeling company to get a good understanding of the different trades, then go for my GC license. My next goal is to work as a project manager and part time in sales to learn as much as I can on the business end. I strongly believe that this will provide with a good understanding and the skills needed to start my own construction business. At the the end of the day I am still a 20 year old and this goal may sound delusional so I hope you may guide me and give me advice on what you think the most ideal and efficient path to take on becoming a construction business owner. I would also like to know if you see value in the formal schooling route (4 year bachelors in construction management) or simply working my way to my goal. We leave the shims short at the exterior and make sure our foam goes out and around the shim so the barrier is continuous.

most people that use this system will go back over the nail holes with the zip liquid flash. If you don’t like the tape then you can use the liquid flash instead of the tape too.

Doesn't sharing the load between solar, LP, or natural gas offset the initial cost of heated flooring & nose bleeding cost of a full capacity solar system? Sure, I know that it's supposed to pay for itself, but does it really, with replacing batteries, solar pannels & the other electrical accessories? During the summer, I would think that well-insulated windows would preclude colder temperatures in the home from penetrating the insulated glass such that water condenses on the cooled exterior pane. If more than half (but not all) of my windows get foggy during the summer, is it time to replace those windows? Overhangs, foliage, etc., are not a differentiating factor.

I’m worried about how much it might cost to run the underfloor heating compared to gas central heating. Due to energy costs here, I try to keep my current heating off unless I really need to have it on when it is very cold. Any advice welcome. Thank you.

An interesting project! It's always helpful to hear about a homeowner's experiences living in the completed project. A few thoughts: first, in my opinion, this home is far, far too big. Why? Does it house fifteen or twenty people? We call it housing obesity around here. Yes, substantial roof overhangs are vital on ALL homes in most climates and I think it's ridiculous that most building designers have forgotten this. Finally, that wall assembly is certainly high performance but complicated and therefore expensive. My wife and I designed and built our own off-grid super-insulated home some dozen years ago. Eleven hundred square feet, one level, clad with Hardipanel and steel roofing with three and a half foot overhangs. The walls are double-stud assemblies twelve inches thick, insulated with blown-in cellulose (R-48). The windows are medium-quality triple-glazed vinyl units from All Weather Windows in Edmonton. Double Roxul batts are underfoot (R-36), and loose-blow cellulose overhead gave us R-68. Total material costs were $55,000 which equals $50/ square foot. Of course, that was before post-pandemic price gouging, so you could almost double those costs today. We have ground gutters that collect water off the roof and store it in a 3200L underground tank; it's used solely for toilet flushing. We have three evacuated-tube collectors (Chinese and therefore very cost-effective) on the roof for water heating, combined with a coil in the wood cookstove. A PV setup in an outbuilding supplies power. Overall, we're very happy with this home, which was cutting edge at the time. There are a few things we'd do differently. The price of photovoltaics has fallen dramatically; $3.15/watt when we built, $0.50/watt now. Today I would install a much larger solar array so we could also heat water. Solar hot water is somewhat complicated and harder to control. I'd look seriously at a ground-source heat pump to supply hot water to underfloor heating. And of course we could easily make those wall thicker for more R-value. As it is, we use 1/5 to 1/4 the wood to heat our home, compared to similar homes in the area.
