Great overview! Thank you!
I love not needing to mow my property up north. I have crushed stone. I have a natural food forest 15 kinds of berries, fruit trees, maples, and some herbs and spices. Property was logged 100 years ago and grew back nice. Lots of blueberries and cherries.
So when you're integrating a home into nature, especially a home that's out in a rural setting, how do you alter your landscaping plans for wildfire safety? Most wildfire specialists say to have a 5 foot unburnable fire barrier around the house (gravel paths) so that embers can't start grass or plants against the house on fire and to have an open area of 30 feet so trees can't catch on fire and spread flames to the building. This house has both fire dangers.
That's an important additional consideration. Landscaping choices are left up to the homeowner but certainly wildfire safety is an increasing area of concern and important to consider. Thanks for watching!
