I think a lot of people are setting themselves up to be surprised, good or bad. Listen, the only reason this team only won 21 games last season was due to injuries, integrating a new starting center, Scoot having growing pains learning the NBA game, and then tanking after the all-star break. The Blazers have improved the roster with Deni Advija, and this team is shooting for the playoffs, or at least the play-in.

I wholeheartedly agree with your closing segment. We have no idea what this season will hold. Some players will disappoint and some will exceed expectations. There’s no point in trying to predict who that will be, since that defeats the whole point of the expectations to begin with, but the great thing about this stage of rebuilding is that we can afford to focus on the positives. If Jabari doesn’t pan out but Kris does, or if Clingan doesn’t pan out but Deni does, that’s perfectly okay. This team’s goal is to find 2 stars and 6 other playoff-level contributors. Every player that pans out lowers one of those numbers. I’m excited to see which guys prove they should be part of the plan

The Blazers could run the offense through Ayton and put shooters around him. Ayton can easily be a 20 and 12 guy. He's the best player on the team and has the higher upside he's also proven

If this upcoming season doesn’t produce more than 21 wins management moves Ned to be made. Bringing in Deni and Donovan is an improvement to the roster. The rest of the team has played together and that alone should mean more wins. If it doesn’t produce the W’a it’s definitely the Coaching and upper management issue.

Tanking is lousy for the game in general. Everyone wants Flagg but we need to think sum of all parts. Putting the stock of entire franchise in one player is not wise, especially when you don't have him and if ya did get him whos to say he likes it here even if the team was doing well? People act like we can just tank, get Flagg then suddenly win 58 games the next year. You gotta have a routine of winning established at least to a point. If your guys are used to tanking then they sure as hell haven't learned how to win by making sure they keep losing.

Appreciate you calling out the whole losing-on-purpose thing. Throwing games for scant percentage points may seem like a pragmatic idea, but what happens when you try to keep talent? Player: "Nice contract, but are we going to try and win this year? Management: "No, there's a 17-year-old prospect we're keen to get!" Player: "How about next year? Management: "Sorry, there's a 16-year-old showing a lot of promise!" Player: "Year after that? Management: "Well, some of these kids are just killing it in junior league!" Player: "Later, losers!"

If they get Flagg, how will that affect the decision on keeping Chancey or searching for a replacement? Seems there would be more coaches interested in the job if Flagg was drafted than if even some other top 10 prospect was drafted.

All of the bad teams (8?) fans think their team is getting Flagg. So tanking will not work, except for just the team that gets lottery luck, regardless how bad they suck.

The returns on trades have not been good.. To name a few… Cj Trade, Norm Trade, Covington Trade, Nance Jr trade, Hart trade. Even added 2 1sts to move Brogdon. Seems like we get nothing that works out when moving out players that had value..

Its not about how many wins but rather about how each win would fell. If Simons and Grant are traded, and the team is built around the young core, Shae, Deni, Clingan, Scoot, every win would be so much more exciting because you know there is something here to build for the future.
