    From a DC fan to PDX fans: YOU GOT A STAR! *_DON'T WASTE HIM!_* He has great vision, if you'll have a pass first offense he will thrive, his hockey assists are *OFF THE CHARTS,*, but the ball hogs you have will destroy that! Also, he's a good slasher, get some spacing! You need **_*just reasonable_* shooters and passers, and you'll have the most unselfish star you had in decades, don't get them and he'll disappear in the background 🤷‍♂

    Deni Avdija is best as a point forward. he played PG at high-school. they've changed his role from SF to point forward after the TDL and his numbers went to 20ppg 6apg 8rpg at that part of the season. ending with 15 6 4 the all season. True shooting 60%.

    The issue with 3-pt shooting last year, was all the good shooters played the same position- point guard (not including Scoot until the last of the season). With Deni at the 3 and improvements from the young core, the numbers will go up. I also agree, they will make a trade or two before the season starts to clear room and help define roles.

    • @jonathanevers8019
      @jonathanevers8019 Před 17 dny

      I wouldn’t lump Deni in with that half of the roster unless it’s a really tight race for a non-bottom-3 spot. Jerami/Ayton/Ant/Tisse/Timelord (or whichever of them is still on the team) would all be much more likely to suddenly come down with these “injuries”. I think they’ll really only do that with the young core guys as a last-ditch measure and no sooner than April. Increasing lottery odds will be necessary, but I’d be surprised if they think a couple extra ping pong balls is worth disrupting development and chemistry for the guys they‘be already invested several tanking seasons for

    We need to unload Grant, Aydon, Simons this year. Sooner rather than later. Scoop up as many picks as we can and to lower our win expectation. Hoping for more lottery picks to better the odds for the #1. Last time was '07 for Oden. It can be done.

    How much will there be a tank or will they just be bad? Depends on who they trade away. Without fake injuries, Simons, Grant and Ayton can get 30 wins, but a low-chance lotto slot.

  • @jamesdonaldson7396
    @jamesdonaldson7396 Před 17 dny +1

    Most of the additional tanking teams this season will come from the East: Detroit, Charlotte, and Washington will be joined by Brooklyn, Toronto, and Chicago. It's not where Portland finishes in the west, it's where they finish overall, and I suspect they'll more likely finish with the 7th or 8th worst record. All of the same tanking strategies that have worked for Portland in a bad draft year will be the same tactics used by the other teams in an expected great draft year. This means Portland's chances of landing the top seed will mostly likely be significantly worse than this year.

    • @LockedOnBlazers
      @LockedOnBlazers  Před 17 dny +3

      Fair point. However, the East teams play each other more often which will de facto add some wins to the lowly seven teams in the east. The Blazers will, uhhhh, benefit(?) from playing in the tougher conference.

    • @jamesdonaldson7396
      @jamesdonaldson7396 Před 17 dny

      @@LockedOnBlazers hadn't thought of that, but it's a good point. I think the other thing to consider is that you're more likely to see larger improvements from younger players. So while Portland will still be bad, just natural improvement from Scoot, Shaedon, and Toumani may win them a couple more games. I'd prefer they shed at least one more of their starting vets to help make it a more organically bad team (instead of sitting high-priced vets with hangnails just in the interest of improving draft odds.)

    Btw The Blazers uploaded another scrum in Hebrew and there somebody asked Deni if he expects to play as on the ball. Deni answered that, Portland is a much different team, and he is sure, they will find the right balance between on and off the ball. Deni wasn't specific in the scrums just because nobody asked it. He is known as hard worker meaning he probably have watched a lot of games and analyzed them and what can he do, but is it smart to be specific with the press? He hasn't even met Billups and all the full coaching stuff. That's the same reason, he hasn't mentioned players. 6-7 main players, experienced with uprising young players, no agreement hierarchy for next season (it's not even final roster). Somebody might got be offended if he wouldn't been mentioned, so the smart thing is to just don't mention others at all.

    Deni adds to our weird tweener forward depth issues is the main problem I have with it. I love Deni and his game, but adding yet another tweener forward was a grave error, unless we do in fact finally trade Ant & JG out of here. We have Duop (he's a 4 not a 5, stop pretending he's a 5 everyone), JG, Toumani, Bari, Kris, Dalano since Chauncey prefers him at the 3 and not the 1, Tisse reliably plays minutes at the 3 as much as the 2 so he has to be included for forward minutes, same with Shae inevitably seeing 3 minutes given we're probably stuck with Ant on the roster playing the 2, Rayan is a 2/3, and then we remove our only polished playmaker and backup 1 for another 3/4 in Deni who can in a pinch run backup 1, but shouldn't be relied on for it. Rob is strictly a 5 Chauncey all but has to play as a 4 with DA here too, so Rob weirdly is included in forward minutes. You see the clusterfuck of a problem here? How everyone either misses this or outright chooses to pretend it isn't a problem while raving from the rooftops their thanks that we "didn't draft or sign another guard" because we had/have too many is wild. Willful ignorance or genuine stupidity? Which is it, I'm genuinely curious.
    And I'm sure many people would see this and respond with "Well it's obvious we will trade JG and probably Ant, maybe Rob so we're good, it's only gonna be for a short stint with that backlog". Though I'm glad so many have faith and confidence in the Blazers front office, I'm equally agitated by it because their track record for the last 10+ seasons has been horrific and loaded with incompetence. So unlike those fans, I have little to no faith in Joe and the rest of the front office trading JG, Ant and Rob out of here, and if they trade even one of them, that the deal will even be that good in the long term with what we get in return. I'm a very realistic and cynical fan, and I want the best for this team and our players and staff, so I always wish and hope players and the front office prove me wrong and make me look like a idiot, but it never ever happens. They always prove me spot on in my analysis. Some day, I really hope that cycle and mold gets shattered.
