One more factor is Brasil robbed Croatia at WC2014 and they got spanked by Germany and us at 2022. Brasil have pride and they dont know to be humble. From pride you fall. Factory settings then its goes from start.

Croatia is still hungry for more. We have two 3 rd places and one 2nd place at WC. While our player were children in war like myself brasilian spoiled babies think its enough to wear Brasilian t-shirt and everyone will bow and give them WC without fighting. Brasil needs to be humble and work and be warriors like Croatian. Then if they lose noone will tell nothing. Love Brasil but they need reset and learn after 20 years mistakes. Be humble and kill the game before Croatia drug you to ET and penalties. Let Croatia will be start and not end of Brasil we knew from history. And shut down instagram idiots 😂😅😂😅😂

The Brazfil problem is simple. In the past Brazil unequaled talent pool hid the fact that the coaches were not that good. Tele Santana was the only good coach. The European game has evolved in so manic aspects. particularly in the quality of the coaching that Brazil can no longer just show up and win. Brazil will not win any competition until the quality of the coaching is raised to at least that of Argentina. No Brazilian coach is working anywhere in the world.

The answers is - they havent underachieved. Their golden generation started at earliest in 2018. Since then, they have finished 3rd, 2nd, and T-5th (losing to eventual finalist) in those competitions. I know success is defined on trophies, but England is still the one of the highest performing teams during that time frame and their golden generation has not yet peaked. Euro 2024 may be the inflection point though.

He must be very tired after 110 minutes of play, and Marco Materazzi has constantly been pulling his shirt. Simply put I just think Italys national team is not good enough to consistently make deep runs in tournaments. If you compare the current generation of Italian to those of the early to mid 00s or 90s there is likely two or maybe three players that make the squad. Now every national team goes through a slump and great players don’t necessarily guarantee titles as a lot of luck is involved, but the most concerning thing about Italy is the lack of truly elite young players coming through. Their methodology of coaching at the youth levels is simply outdated and those who have quality barely get any playtime at the senior level. Italy don’t have wonder kids of the equivalent of Jamal Musiala, Pedri, Yamal, Bellingham, Wirtz, Warren Zaire Emery, Endrick, Claudio Echeverri or Jorrel Hato. It is not as if talented Italian footballers have vanished of the face of the earth it just means the structure and ideology is so far behind that they underperform in terms of producing players given their passion and population size. Because Italy has a high floor they will remain somewhat competitive at tournaments, but until they sort out their domestic issues they will continuously underperform relative to their ceiling. Just look at what’s possible with smaller size nations like Portugal and Belgium producing more talented young players and at present arguably have just if not more formidable squads. The difference is that they have a structure and Italy does not.

What caused the downfall is that other strong footballing nations started fielding sides with technical ability everywhere, which only Brazil used to have, so they lost their supreme advantage. Meanwhile the other nations had developed tactics and discipline because they couldn't rely on technical ability, while Brazil never did because they relied on ability. It's not simply a question of philosophy at the national team, Brazil's entire football infrastructure encourages individualism , so even when they try to play European style they can't . Look how they bowed out of the last World Cup. They were ahead and in the final minutes everyone rushed forward so they could get a goal. Smh

There's something important to note that didn't help Neymar's popularity at all, at least regarding his compatriots. During the 2022 World Cup, Neymar Jr declared himself a political fan of Jair Bolsonaro (not precisely the most popular president Brazil has ever had), even going so far to publicly say that he would dedicate the World Cup to him if he achieve to win the competition. That political manifestation not only angered a lot of brazilians, but it was seen as an open challenge against the authority of the NT Coach, Tite, who's known for his leftist tendencies, and broke the "national unity" environment a NT needs to participate in such a tournament. Today, it's rumoured some of the Brazil NT players just "contained" themselves in the match against Croatia just because of that declaration. Neymar Jr. is, sadly, a dissociating factor, not a unity one. And that is fatal when you play in a National Team. No wonder the only big trophy the Brazil NT has lifted in these times, the Copa America 2019, was obtained without Neymar's help.

Brazil has been getting to at least the quarter-finals since 1990. No other team did that. Remember that Brazil won no world cups between 1970-1990, and no one said that anything about "downfall". Oh, nevermind, there were newspapers here in Brazil saying that Brazil had become "an average team" before 94. It almost seems like the media doesn't know what it's talking about most of the time. Brazil has talents, it will win again. Argentina took their time to win a world cup again. It's a tough competition, Brazil had great teams in 2018 and 2022, but they didn't win. In fact I would say that since 02' apart from 2014 Brazil always had a team perfectly competent enough to win the world cup. But losing happens, many excellent teams do not win the world cup. Sometimes a bad day (or a particularly inspired day from the opposing team) is all it takes. Brazil could just as easily have lost 94 or 2002 because of a missed penalty or because of bad luck. I'll be worried when Brazil stop producing talent. Until then, it's only natural that it will win once again eventually. Oh, also: Brazil almost didn't qualify for the 94 and 02' world cups. A reminder of how football is "a box of surprises", as the saying goes.
