  • In this video, I cover the decorated career of all time great, Lionel Messi and attempt to take a deeper dive in to the journey of Messi and his 5 very different World Cup experiences. By being able to briefly look back snd pinpoint certain details about his career, its clear to see that La Pulga has had one of, if not the most unique international journey of all time. The little magician recently captured the elusive World Cup when he struck gold against France in Qatar. His legacy was already untouchable beforehand, but with his recent triumph of the World, his greatness and one of a kind career is etched even more in stone as perhaps the greatest athlete across all sports, in history.

    P.S.
This is my fourth video ever as a CZcamsr. It's also my fourth ever time I've ever edited or done any kind of voice track on a video, I'm usually a very reserved and private person but football has been the most significant thing in my life since I can remember and has stayed that way since then.
As many of you know, the love never dies.
Please let me know what I can improve on and what topics you wish to see me cover. This is my first video, im sure there is a lot I can improve on. I made this video before I got my new mic so for future videos the sound is not only going to be aligned, but it will be a much higher quality sound experience.
Thank you again and I hope this is the beginning of an amazing journey on CZcams.

I am not even Argentinian nor an avid football fan. But when I learned about Messi and the team's struggle, I truly understand why this win is so much special. I guess I am now a fan. For France, they are an absolute strong team, it's given. They were the defending champions, but I really gotta give it to Argentina. They truly deserved The Cup.

There would have been a question if Messi is the greatest or one of the greatest on the history of football if he wouldn't lead Argentina to win the world cup, but finally he did, so no doubt he reached on the top of his age , I always mesmerized with the story of Diego Maradona and Argentina but now Messi will remain as icon not only for Argentina but also for everyone who loves this beautiful game. it was absolutely a great pleasure to see Messi and Argentina to win the world cup as i was waiting to see this since 1986. RIP Diego Maradona. Messi will remain as living legend and never be forgotten.

I wanna say that if Messi had been given the opportunities Mbappe and other youngest have gotten in recent years, that his world cups would’ve been a lot different.

An excellent commentary on the triumph of Messi and Argentina to the pinnacle of world football. During this journey Messi truly became a leader, unifying his team and even showing anger on occasion (e.g., against the Netherlands' manager and Weghorst) when necessary. A beautiful culmination.

That´s not true. Argentina 2006 - 2010 - 2014 was a really good team, but Maradona in 2010 and Germany on 2006 and 2014 didn´t allow it to win anything. Argentina has always good players.

Now onto Messi. He’s my favorite player of all time. I watched him in the U-20 WC and knew he was destined for greatness.
IMO it was unfair to judge him and say he wasn’t one of the greatest if he didn’t win a WC. Many average players won the WC and they won’t be considered GOATs or among the best in history. His performance in the WC and how he truly stepped up as a leader and won the WC, he’s the undisputed GOAT of his generation. I still believe Pele edges him out, but Pele, Messi and Maradona are the greatest players of all time.

Would you call it poor form in 2010 if he was forced to play almost as a midfielder where at Barcelona he played up top? Go look at his performances again, there's nothing poor about how many chances he created from receiving the ball from the center of the midfield. He dribbled through defences, set up his teammates around him, and came close to scoring on a number of occasions, hitting the post 2 times that tournament. He was also part of the 10 nominees for the Golden Ball at the 2010 World Cup. Yes, it wasn't his best showing, and yes...perhaps it was a bit of a far cry to nominate him among the top 10 players of the WC, but to say he had poor form is a complete lie. He was misused as a number 10 behind Tevez and Higuain, where instead he really plays as False 9, so we didn't see the best from him not because of his form, but because of where Maradona played him. Even when Argentina were a dumpster fire that tournament he was still by and far their best player.

    • @addictedtwofootball
      @addictedtwofootball  Před rokem +1

Thank you for sharing my bro! The reason I referred to it as “poor form” would be because after doing some research prior to this video to try and reattach myself to the status quo at the time, I found some articles and stories that directly quoted coaches inside the Argentina camp of 2010, for example Fernando Signorini, the fitness coach, where they explained Leo was facing a fitness burnout that year, where due to the substantial increase of games he was now playing for both club and country on a consistent basis and the nature of his game, as a response to the concern about his performances and what many fans and media were noticing as a difference.
I definitely should have mentioned that in the video in hindsight, but as stated in my bio, i’m new to video making and i’m learning everyday what is and isn’t valuable information. Messi is a baller and I make that very clear in the video, but there’s no question that a lot of people, including those within Argentina’s camp were concerned about his health and in turn, his performances leading into the world cup.

@@addictedtwofootball Thank you for the video! I always like seeing analysis of footballer’s careers and such! And thanks to you I learned something new…I never knew (or if I did, I completely forgot) about his fatigue he had going into this WC, but now that you mentioned it, it totally makes sense. In his head, he’s probably more motivated than ever at that point in his career, but his body (even in his athletic prime at 22-23 years old) probably wasn’t at full performance given he played at the end of a long season with Barcelona. That is probably a defining factor on why Messi started to conserve his energy as he got older. I specifically remember he started to get criticized for walking in 2013 after he suffered a hamstring injury that year.
For me, watching Messi back in 2010, especially when he had a streak of goals late in the 2009/10 season which included the game he scored 4 goals vs. Arsenal, he was the best player I had ever seen, better than the likes of even players like Ronaldinho, both Ronaldos, Zidane, Henry etc. But I think his performance at the World Cup that year (while unsuccessful) were overlooked. Many people will say Wesley Sneijder deserved the Ballon d’Or in 2010, and if not him someone from Spain like Xavi, and that Messi didn’t deserve it that year, but if you look solely on how he played rather than the trophies he and his team missed out on or the lack of goals he scored at the World Cup, he was still a better player than he was the previous year (he was scoring more goals and creating more chances, which is expected for someone who was still developing his game at age 22-23). Therefore, it was only fair he’d win it again, but the voting was close, and I think that’s fair given other players won the big trophies that year. Many people remember Messi for his more recent success, including the World Cup where thankfully he finally won, but I still have a soft spot for the Messi under Guardiola, because he was totally unplayable (and it was the first time watching him at the peak of his powers so there is an emotional attachment I have for his younger years).
That being said, the video was top quality 👍 it really highlights his career with Argentina being a struggle, especially from 2016 to 2019. I really thought after the 2018 World Cup that he’d never win the World Cup let alone a trophy with Argentina. Thankfully I was wrong. He had to fight for both the Copa America and the World Cup, both in the tournament itself and his actual career leading up to this point. I’d argue that it was better that he won those 2 trophies in this way for him, his family, his teammates, his country, and all of his fans can savor it more! 🥹 Making videos is a skill not many can hone and perfect (me included), so it’s a real pleasure seeing people like make videos with lots of depth and analysis for learning and discussion.
Keep up the good work!!! 👏👏👏

The so-called redemption story would be more celebrated if there was not a concerted attempt to get this fairytale ending to happen. Believe what you want, but we all saw it. For 7 years now there has been this attempt to give Messi trophies because he "deserves" them and and it would be an "injustice" if he did not get one. This World Cup for Argentina is equal to what they did for Korea in 2002.
Not to mention the forced juxtaposition of his image with Maradona when, for the majority of his career he failed to perform and reproduce the heroics of Diego. Also, these stories are more enjoyable when you go against all odds which is not the case with this one.

Suddenly changing your mind about the BS you wrote? @@themerovingian7154 first of all, a penalty shootout can be rigged.
The result would not have changed my mind. Lots of sports games are rigged but don't turn out to plan, so it is then that the script is adapted. If Kolo scored, I would have expected a VAR check to see an offside before the play or whatever excuse they use to disallow it. It's the type of stuff they do.
The game was going according to script until Mbappe scored twice and the storyline around France suddenly forgetting how to play football was simply this virus that suddenly broke out in their camp and no other camp.
Their display was similar to Pat Mahomes in the match vs Bengals last year where in the second half, he "forgot" how to be good. There are various factors from this tournament that show favouritism towards Argentina and even some of the players called it out.
Those who their fairytale ending will try and discard the truth of the matter because they have an inclination to defend their idol. Those who want to influence will spew out lies and deceit towards the masses. Messi has been their golden boy and they've been trying to convince the world that he's the greatest ever even without an international trophy and now that they've given it to him they are trying to convince us that it is over.
