Hi Derek, J Cregg here, the drummer that played two shows a the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma w Michael opening up for Elvin Bishop in front around a thousand people? roughly late seventies?. You are "filling me in" with your story(s) on a few experiences I personally had with you and him which helped to begin a rather lengthy side line career for me drumming the Blues and other authentic roots music in many different bands over the years that I now have numerous recordings and photos of today and look back on it all as some of my most happiest times because I HAD A JOB! and TO DO that was wholesome, legitimate, made part of something greater than myself which taught me humility, and I ACTUAlLY LIKED DOING!! a big deal for me and many of us back then, there, even more so today! Keep it up! And Also! Great to see your face again after all this time with all everybody, or anybody especially any budding musicians had to go through in order to sustain even the most meager type of living at such a young age in Marin County at that time! Great to see you are still in a happy mood with a smile on your face again. Hats off to you!! BTW There is one band photo( Dimensions in front of the Civic center in San Rafael , w the great Tommy Banks, Archie Williams, Raymond Victor, Brian Pierce , Bruce Gapinski, the other horn player escapes me, me and you in it. One of of my most prized possessions now displayed on the Music room wall with a host of other photos & posters of the bands I played in and gigs I played dating all the way back to the mid late sixties in Sausalito and Marin City in my outbuilding ( Music Room) @ my country house I purchased with hard earned long saved money in Southern Oregon region of the Applegate Valley.. Huey's brother but keep it to yourself. HaHaHa LoL Just kidding, We see each other at Hollidays and water fowl season out at his Ranch in Western Mt. each year and get along just fine but I have to admit the decrease in his popularity is settling in just fine. Be Well. Peace Out (-: Jeff
I was the manager for Chicago Blues Power for the last few months of Michael's life, and continued for years after he passed. Boz Scaggs sat in with CBP at The Saloon in San Francisco 4 or 5 times after Bloomfield's passing czcams.com/video/89Or1V0jRLU/video.html
I am back playing harmonica with my band after my stroke
Do you have the tabs written out somewhere?
No, but as in exercise, you should try to learn it by ear. It’s the best way to memorize it and it’s not a very hard melody to learn.
Root of soul, bluse o rock & You Rock man
Got my harmonica 2 months ago so glad I found yiur channel .. subscribed and gonna go through your vids.
Man this is a class. Thank you so much for recording this!!!
Nice video thank you
Amazing teacher
Tata teety seems like it is 2 draw and 2 blow. Is that right?
I like to learn how to play the harmonica I like your teaching.
The opening sounds like catsquirrel by doctor Ross. Awesome tune!
Thank you so much for this. I first saw Bloomfield with the Butterfield band (Jerome Arnold on bass) and it changed my musical life. I was at Monterrey when the schedule listed The Michael Bloomfield Blues Band and everyone wondered who was this Electric Flag, just about up til the time that they came on. Then the Flag played a lot in Los Angeles over the next year and I saw them at every chance I had. So, your reminiscing is food for my soul. For me, Bloomfield was the best. Thank you.
I don't think those Jazzcats has done any blues gigs since we put them through bootcamp!!!!
Solid information, well delivered, seems like a great guy! 👍

8:00 Is Derrick playing his harp upside down?
Not sure maybe I was? Does it make any difference anyway. I know several left-handed players that actually do that. I don’t think I was but at least I played the right scale.😄
hi big Walker ! I watched your video great harp playing man. I've been playing country blues harp since 2009. you play just Like I do. I have a couple microphones the amp all that stuff. but yeah I play nothing but country blues and that's all I know how to play Man. I love the hat by the way I rock that kind of style hat too.
thank you!
Great story..really enjoyed it..though road but you made it through it👍👍
Great information. I bought set of harmonicas, and this video I hope will help me figure out what key to play to different song’s in.
Thank you very much Mr. Derrick BIG Walker. Very inspirational 🎷class. Just got a TENOR sax. Now practice time. Thanks for all your tutorials, your advices and explanations which are needed and to be followed. Great. Wishing you the BEST. Greetings from Spain.
Brilliant demo. You’ve inspired me & I must learn this on my new C harmonica. Thank you👍
Only black people can play that music and for r me i dont really care to play that music.
Hi am 74yrs young. Remembered always listening to Grandma playing her guitar, as I played in her tin button box. Decided to get one. Bought a 24 whole, Eastar, in C admiral. Just 2 days ago Having so much fun. Seems like I have knack for it. Going to buy a A next. Better for the Blues that I want to play as well. Think I am starting to late in life?
What We See & Man To Man Ambition is the desire to go forward and improve one’s condition. It is a burning flame that lights up the life of the individual and makes him see himself in another state. To be ambitious is to be great in mind and soul; to want that which is worthwhile and strive for it; and to go on without looking back, reaching to that which gives satisfaction. To be humanly ambitious is to take in the world which is the province of man; to be divinely ambitious is to offend God by rivaling him in His infinite majesty. What We See To look into the world of sin, And see men shine like burning gold, To ask myself from right within, Can I be just the same-as bold? And out the answer comes to me: “The same that governs them, does you.” its just the way you look, you see- But of all things, be good and true. We will grab you our fields, tupiganie our freedom Let us redeem Redeem us our education Our education We will grab you Our factories Culture It is our fields Blood and sweat Followed We will redeem Flows We Will Redeem Our Asa Ye Duru! Our culture and industries
Yeah, ZZtop is super easy. Can you keep that groove? Can you keep it tight for 4 mins?
Do You teach how to bend the notes with a new harmonica, the best technique to avoid getting weak or lost notes ?
Hi Anders, I have several just take it easy if it’s a new harmonica a lot of the more modern harmonica‘s are pre-broken in. I would say the easiest to start out with would be Lee Oscar.
@@DerrickBigWalker Aha, the notes are bent as new ? I' ll look, I lost a few notes on the one I have .. Thank You .

Nice!!!
I’m a bass player and am attempting to copy sax solos on the bass , this is a big help
Niceeee video man!
Why you all tuto always talk so much, just play, and like a kid or baby we will listening to you
I’ve been told sax 🎷 nor horns belongs in blues. What about B.B. King oh Albert Collins? I love the horn section. My father comes from the era of swing, so it’s imbedded into my soul. Love your CZcams channel, bud.
Thank you, No maybe what they mean is some horn players don't belong. I use to play for Collins BTW.
This is great country blues song in the style of Sonny Terry! It doesn't sound all that difficult to play, but you make it sound good, Derrick. Chicago style blues harp is what I mostly play, but there's something really cool about this style of blues harp as well. Great lesson and it can enhance my harp playing! I will work on this song next time I play my harmonica.
loving the videos man, love from New Zealand
Derrick, you are the best in youtube talking about the blues in the sax, no doubt. Please continue to post videos teaching us. Thank you very much
