do you have a parts list for these old 18hp? i just picked one up thats pretty rough. plan on going through it like you did in this video, just need to find all the seals, impeller, etc etc. any help with finding parts?

When you check the oil level your not supposed to screws the dipstick back in then unscrew it and check. You in screw it clean it stick it in till it stops pull it out and read it ! Unless the manufacturers instructions are wrong

Is the Cam Roller, the shift cam. My 10hp is doing the same thing, won’t keep running. Fires for about 2 seconds

My father just picked up yesterday that identical motor, we haven't done anything yet but seller said it'll need the water pump kit.. THANK YOU SO MUCH! (Do you have part numbers for that kit)

On mine Johnson 40hp with 60hp carb I get 9 mpg go 24 mph,at 4 mpg going 35 mph, with 17 prop in 17 ft tracker. You can change carburetor on it , just like the 9.9

But it sounded like it started way better.👍👍👍 . I know you might have been kidding about calling it the GRAY GOOSE . But that’s a good name for it.. now that 40 hp just ripped though the water lot better then the 25hp that is normal on that boat we had two of them in bass club both 25 love watching you work on all kind of things thanks from maine

Happy Father's day, i do believe that HS10 means it can be gapped to the max 1mm. If my memory serves me correctly. I love watching 2 strokes get tuned up. I run 2 stroke Tohatsu motors now but i was raised on Johnson and Evinrudes.

Your videos helped me a lot to know all the small pitfalls of these old motors. I have an Evinrude Sport Twin 9 1/2 HP from 67 (I converted it to 15 HP). It's essentially the same engine as the Johnson (with points though). Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge with us. :)

Too RMD borrow one other Props from other boats and install on 40 HP try it test it til your other comes in

So what do you do if you don’t have an angle grinder working to create the homemade piece? I’ve tried with screwdrivers but it just doesn’t get past 5-6 turns before slipping. It also sucks because I am solo.

I’m running into the same issue. Exact mpg 6. Running supper rich. I change the O2 sensors awhile few months ago. But they were cheap ones from eBay. I’ll start there.

I just recently (June 14/24) took the carb off my 9.9 and to get at that one nut on the carb easier, I took the pull cord assembly off which took no time at all... easy peezy. Just make sure you u zip tie it together so that it doesn't spring apart. When putting that nut back on the carb, grab it by the handle and set it down on the ground or work bench.... this way you have a better chance of the nut sitting flat on the threads.... easy peezy!

Unfortunately Leeroy passed from my simple search but that site is stationary/down, i just won a 83 nine point nine at auction less than 50 had no hood but found one local a 15hp hood, a mouse had chewed the coil wires so i fix them and it started up with water, now i am looking for a small aluminum boat to put it on and a SS prop down the road it it runs well, a compression check i got 105 top 96 bottom so it's maybe so so have fun

I was going to do the same thing cause my rollers is only 4 and a half inch or mm. But doesn’t fit I had to buy all new brackets.
