TWC Projects is a VLOG about creating things, fixing things, and just enjoying the outdoors. (Learn more at twc-projects.net ) I bring you along as I work my land, cutting trees, milling lumber to build all kinds of great stuff, clearing trails for my UTV, and even working on my old classic Porsche. Will also review some of my favorite tools/equipment and go on a few adventures like trail riding in the mountains or a trip to Maine. The goal is to inspire you to create things, fix things, and learn new things. So come along for the ride and hopefully have as much fun watching as I have making these videos.
166-Sawmill Slabs Prep & Pouring
In order to utilize my personal sawmill (Woodland Mills HM126) more fully, I clear a new level area, build some wood forms, and pour cement pads. This includes finally getting to use my new Klutch 3.5 cu ft 1/2 hp cement mixer plugged into my Pulsar G2319N 2300W Portable Gas-Powered Inverter Generator, for working fully portable.

Exciting progress and the 50D looks great! I guess it's the season for putting down concrete. From my end, I'll be OK not hearing my laser level beep for quite some time!
Yeah. My tiny little slabs are like a drop in the ocean compared to your garage floor. That's massive and looking great. How awesome will that be when you're done. Nice work!
Great info wanted more info on attachment of hangers it appears that the metal should carry the weight ok ie don’t need to attach to wood inside building
I just used 3-4 metal screws directly into the flashing and that has worked fine. Been in place for 2ys now, and no issues. Have had some pretty massive downpours too, but going strong still. Thanks for your comments and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
So thankful! I thought I was just an old man when I couldn't understand bolts!! Didn't have that big of wrench/socket either, but..! Mine too, was the "last they had", and they didn't know they had it!? BTW, the didn't even know (I knew) it needed 80-90 gear oil?! Thanks, I have it now...
The whole time I was putting it together, I was worried I should have spent more $$. But, I've used (and slightly abused, as you've ssen in my other videos) it a few times now and it's worked well. It does what it's meant to do without complaining. Thanks for watching and for sharing. We're not old; just "seasoned". 😉 Have a fantastic day.
What is the brand name of the wench remote?
See twc-projects.net/amazon-store for links to this and other related parts and equipment. Thanks for watching.
That metal garage will be mega hot in the summer if you don't have a way to exhaust out the hot air (ridge cap vents, turbines on the roof, etc)..
Thanks for the suggestion. That's exactly what I thought when I built it. Fortunately, it is surrounded by trees on the East and South sides, so it stays remarkably cooler than I expected. I just open 2 or all 3 doors and that fan cools it right off. Just had one of the hottest weekends in the 3 years I've owned the garage (feels like temp of 104*) and the garage was no hotter, with the fan going, than outdoors in the shade. Thanks for the comment and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
Dave’s Tractor here in Red Bluff Ca. absolutely the BEST!
just purchased a TYM 2515h w/ backhoe myself on 6/28/24! Pretty damm exciting..!
That's fantastic! Congratulations! I've loved mine, as you can see in the many videos I have where I'm using my 2515. I hope you have the same great experience with it that I've had. Thanks so much for sharing your good news and for watching my channel. Enjoy your new tractor..
That went smoother than before
Thanks Jon. Yeah, way smoother.. 😀 It was way too muddy last time for sure.
What blade did you use on the oak log?
I believe it was the 7/8" Pitch Woodland Mills blades for soft & hard woods. I bought a 10pk when I bought the mill and still have plenty left. woodlandmills.com/hm126-hm130-sawmill-blades/ Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Looking good! Our driveway here is always a challenge, especially the approach to the house that washes out when we get a downpour... --- Thought of your mini-ex project this week as I've got the neighbors 50G here to move some dirt for our upcoming shop floor!
I saw you had cleared everything out of the shop and insulation ready to go down. Exciting! What a big difference that'll be to have a much bigger place to work, and not have to try to move cars up and down the hill to work on them. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Have fun in the mini-X.
I seem to remember you grading your driveway before in a video awhile ago that did not go well. Not sure if it was the same box you used awhile back but i think you have it figured out. Great job!
Yes. Logically, what I did this time didn't make any sense. But, the results show for themselves. I think it just requires continuous adjusting of the angle based on the material you're moving, what's underneath, and if you're using the tines or not. I saw one video where they had a hydraulic top-link, which they kept adjusting as they went along to get the desired results. Maybe that's the key.. Thanks for all your continued supportive comments. Much appreciated.
Thank you, I am thinking of buying one and this helped. One question, what year is the one you have.
So glad you found this video helpful. Mine is a 2019. Mechanically it hasn't changed much, but the newer models have a few more bells and whistles. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Have a fantastic day.
I have a 760 it sounds like it’s falling all apart, taking off
Does yours make a lot of racket taking off?
No racket from mine, taking off or otherwise. Do you have the metal dump bed? I've heard those make all kinds of noise. I had a guy asking me if I knew where he could buy a regular plastic bed like mine. He hated his metal one.
Double check most of the nuts and bolts or you will have pieces start falling off
Thanks. I've heard that from other viewers as well. I purchased mine directly from Massimo in Texas in 2019. They seemed to do an excellent job assembling this machine, so I've never had a loose bolt or nut since I've owned it. I think the ones sold in TSC or other retailers are assembled by whoever is around that day, as opposed to people whose job it is all day every day. Checking nuts and bolts as a regular practice is good advice though, for any equipment; especially equipment that gets banged around and vibrates. Thanks for your comments and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
Could a bike pull it
Unfortunately, no. It's quite heavy duty. This is intended for use with a small tractor, a UTV/ATV, or a relatively powerful riding mower. There are other, lighter weight products on the market designed specifically for pulling behind bikes. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Great idea right there!
It's been absolutely perfect for what I needed. And it took all of 5 mins to install. Fits like it was made for the tractor, and definitely was made to fit chainsaw and tools. Had I known earlier, I would have gotten it when I got the tractor. Thanks for the support. Have a great day.
Thanks for the video! I just bought the same cutter and was looking for a quick way to figure out how to set it up! This was perfect!
Gald you found it helpful. Thanks for the comments and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
This looks awesome! It's certainly come quite a ways since you brought it home! It will have a good life at your place!
Thanks! Now I feel like I need a giant car port at Bear Ridge to store this, the dump truck and trailer under so that they don't just fade and start rusting again in a few years. Always something to do. The day I run out of projects will be the day I'm 6ft under..
I think it turned out Great! Imagine what it would have cost you if it looked like that when you bought it. Very professional job! Looks like new!
Thanks so much. It was a lot of work, but even I'm surprised how well it turned out. It definitely would have cost 5K more if it looked like this when I bought it. I saw the potential, put in the hard work, and am very happy with the results. Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it. Have a fantastic day.
Very informative, thanks for posting. I hope to be getting one of these machines in the near future.
Thanks for the supportive comment and for watching. So glad you found it helpful. If you do get one, you may want to add a hitch to it for moving around your property. I made one on the cheap in this video. It's been a back saver -- czcams.com/video/Rmnn7Ss1T7w/video.html
Thanks for the video! My new TYM 2515H is coming in a few days and this information is going to help! Liked and subscribed.
Awesome! Congratulations on getting a new tractor. Gad you found this video helpful. It's been a fantastic machine for me, so hope the same for you. Thanks for the supportive comments and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
Great video thank you!
Thanks. I did a follow-up on that one, installing gutter guards; if you're interested ( czcams.com/video/d4PZis1BtrE/video.html ). Thanks for watching and for your supportive comments. Have a fantastic day.
Looking good Ted! - That's really going to look new once those new decals get on it! I bet it feels great to look at all the progress you've made both mechanically and cosmetically. Also, BIG THANKS for the shout out! Far better painters than I on CZcams, but we all have to learn. Next thing you'll be painting your Porsche!
Thanks for the awesome support, as always. Definitely won't catch me painting the Porsche. That project seems so far off at the moment. I have so many other things in the works that all get me to retirement so that I can then do things like finish the Porsche. And yes, the mini-X does look fantastic finished with decals; far better than I was expecting. Will share the next video, of which I plan to edit this weekend. Hope all is well with you. I need to catch up on your progress with the challenger. Seeing you do that makes my automotive projects seem super simple by comparison. Keep up the great work.
Excellent work; major improvement
Thanks so much. It's been a labor or love, that's for sure. In the next video you'll see how it turned out. I'm pleased to say it now looks far better than I was expecting. Thanks for the supportive comments and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
Can you put a snow plow on it? Does it have enough power for that?
That's a great question. I know Massimo sells plow kits for this, and there are companies that make plows that mount onto these. There are lots of videos out there with people using UTVs to plow snow, but I don't know if there are any about the T-Boss 550 specifically. It seems capable, but you may want to consider going up to a bigger engine. Of course it'll always come down to the depth and wetness of the snow, which is different every storm. Unfortunately I just don't have any personal experience with plowing snow in my Massimo. So I can only share what I've noted above. Thanks for watching and for your question.
This video helped me. It would have been better if you didn’t talk for 7 minutes straight tho about nothing. Just start the video saying here is how you get the bullshit big nut off
My question isn’t related to the subject in this video, but I see you have a lot of experience with that machine. I just purchased a TBoss 550 from tractor supply and I have only driven it maybe 20 minutes. My question and my problem is that when I start downhill, the machine does not have any pressure to slow the descent. It’s as if it kicks into neutral. Is that normal for a model with the CVT transmission? I hope not because we have a lot of hills on the property. Thank you for your time.
Yes. This is normal for CVT. The clutch engages when the motor spins up enough to create a centrifugal force, thus causing inward pressure onto the drive belt. So, if your foot is off the gas pedal, the clutch may not be closed enough to make contact with the drive belt that connects it to the engine. This is the same as a snowmobile, if you've had any experience with those. Basically, it takes a while to get used to it and then it doesn't seem so strange anymore. It definitely doesn't feel like your typical car transmission. So keeping that in mind, when I'm descending larger hills and want the engine to assist me, I put it in low gear, and keep my foot on the gas just enough to keep the clutch engaged. Again, takes some getting used to. For day to day use though, I rely on the brakes. They work fine. Give it a few weeks, and you'll get more comfortable with it. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and happy riding. Enjoy your new UTV .
Way to go! Great example of getting in there and fixing stuff vs. calling the people. Pretty great feeling to be able to maintain these machines on your own, and I'm sure a decent cost savings!
Thanks Dach!
If idle control has Laraedo on it it will be faulty. They have a different one now. Don't get on with Laraedo stamped on it.
Thanks for that info. And thanks for watching.
How many watts was the big drill?
13Amp @120V. The portable band saw I show is 10Amp.
What size trailer do you recommend for the T-Boss?
At least 5ft 6in wide, 9ft long, and load capacity of at least 1,300 lbs. This thing is far bigger and heavier than it seems. I use a "car hauler" style trailer, with electric brakes, which is 16ft long and has a load capacity of 5,500 lbs. Hopefully that helps for comparison when you see it in my videos. Thanks for watching. Have great day.
That was beautiful to watch! It was so calming and peaceful. Thank you for sharing!!!!
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and for the positive comment. Have a fantastic day.
Lots of wildlife for sure! Hopefully they all stick around after your build so you can enjoy all of the critters!
With thousands of wooded acreage surrounding my property, I expect the wildlife won't be going anywhere. They seem to very much enjoy the open areas I've created, as they are frequently there. I have hundreds and hundreds of videos from the trailcams of mostly deer, turkey, etc. So it does take a lot of time and effort to narrow down to the more rare sightings that I think people may enjoy. The bear trying to eat my camera has to be the most amazing thing I've captured so far. Thanks for keeping up with my videos. You're a great support and I really appreciate it. Have a great day Dach.
Nice video 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for your comment and for watching. 👍 Glad you enjoyed it.
Looking really good! I'll be nearly new when you're done!
I don't have nearly the bodywork and painting skills that you do, but I'm enjoying seeing progress none the less. Thanks as always for your support. Have a fantastic day.
I enjoy watching boring videos lol. But yours are fun boring 😅. As for tape I work for a Body Shop Supply place and we sell and deliver tape for many automotive painting shops. And there is more than one style of tape for many applications. And yes some can be very expensive. Highest price I have seen was a special order for industrial painting and it was around $36 a roll and that shop orders 6 or more cases at a time. It does pay for itself when you use good tape made for the project.
Wow! $36/roll. That must be good tape. Thanks for the true "pro" tip, unlike my amateur tips. 😉 And thanks for watching even my slightly less exciting videos. Much appreciated. Have a fantastic day.
I have the same box I filled it with bricks, was ok. Removed them and filled with A gravel and stone dust, was much heavier. But I too will need more weight.
I've had it filled with clay, with a solid concrete block on top, for a couple yrs now, and that seems to work fine. The slots underneath for pallet folks have been nice too, when I've needed to move the box while I had a different 3pnt implement on my tractor. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Have a fantastic day.
Purchased my Massimo 550 T Boss last year and it only has 132 miles on it. I am having the same idling issue and I think your 3 part video might help me immensely! Time well spent watching your video. Thank you TWC.
So glad it was helpful. That's the only issue I've had in three and half years. Be sure to go to my website ( twc-projects.net/resources ) for helpful code guide and links to parts. Thanks for the kind words and for watching my channel. Hope you can fix your issue quickly and be back to riding soon.
great video. I miss the engine braking that I have on my 570 Polaris quad. the Massimo doesn't seem to have enough brake power down hills. also they advertise 54 inch width. That's true for front wheels. However the rear measures 58 1/2", tight for a 5x10 trailer. Any words of advice on brakes?
The brakes could be more powerful, but what I did when riding mountain trails was shift down to low when I knew I had a steep incline. It helps with uphill and downhill control. For 99% of what I use it for, the brakes are plenty adequate. I try to tell folks this is not designed to compete with the machines that cost 2x and are tuned for off-road abusive trail riding. This machine is great for running around your property and helping you get work done, and have a little fun while doing it. Thanks for your support and comments. Have a great day.
....If you go Faster the blocks will fall off Faster! .... Geesh!!
I would definitely prioritize fixing the overheating issue over everything else. If this machine was ran in a really dusty environment (they normally all are) then the evaporator normally plugs up with dirt externally with result in no airflow out of the vents. Same with the radiator and coolers, but these are much easier to blow out with an a blow gun. I’ve seen several John Deere water pumps lose the impeller (plastic) and then just spin freely.
Thanks so much for the advice. I'm learning all the time, so your experience is much appreciated. I'm a little behind in my video editing, but I believe I've fixed the issue. However, I did replace the air filter and made sure the radiator, etc. thermal exchange devices were clear of dust and debre build-up. I did not replace the pump since it is such a massive effort, requiring removal of counter weight and a ton of other parts. I figured I'd see how it runs after doing a full flush, replacing the T-stat, and the V-belt, of which I think was the true culprit. It sounds a 1,000 times better, and is staying cool. It was so loose and warn out. Should have replaced it long ago. Everything appears to be working perfectly now. Stay tuned to see the outcome. And keep your experienced advice coming on my future projects. I'll look forward to it. Have a fantastic day. T.
At this rate the car might run a year from now. Completed ready for the road 2032
😀
Did you have to clean the gutter at all even installing these gutter guards? I have pine trees as well. Let me know how it works
Needles don't seem to be a problem yet, but the little Maple propeller seeds are collecting. I think I'll need to take a shop vac to get them out. If that continues, I'm not sure how much I gained. Blow out leaves, or stuck out propellers. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Have a great day.
Good video! Thanks
Glad you found it helpful. If you get one of these, you may consider adding a trailer hitch to it. Very helpful. See DIY how-to ( czcams.com/play/PL8T-iSUAEa2QHXJqeFqeHM5vu5Zfq0g8G.html&si=Rk7WBi2XMMDWb7uQ ). Thanks for watching and the positive comment. Pls also consider subscribing, if you haven't already. Have a fantastic day.
Hopefully you get all the gremlins worked out! It's always something is seems like with equipment. Oil and fuel filter are really the only things I've needed to do on our Bobcat, I've been thankful for that.
It's a good machine. Just needs a little love and some paint. Hope you're doing well..
I just bought one from TSC… $8,999 for a new 2023. Curious as this video is a couple years old. Have you had any more issues?
Congratulations! That's awesome! No, I have only had the one issue with the TPS (throttle position sensor). Other than that, this machine has been golden. Bought it in the fall of 2019, and use it every weekend. Best of luck with yours. Thanks for watching and for your comments. Happy UTVing!
Just bought ours yesterday. Do you have a video on installing the light bar?
Congratulations! That's awesome! As far as the light bar, unfortunately I didn't record that. But, it was pretty straight forward, requiring one hole to be drilled through plastic for the switch, a screw hole for relay to mount under the hood, and a couple screws holes for light mounts on roof. The rest was fishing wires and zip ties. From this video, and the original 1yr review video, you should be able to see where everything goes. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and for your comments. And enjoy your new toy.. 😀
