There is not a lot of things you have to do after installing Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster. For example, you should already have correct video drivers and some third-party software installed if you selected these options during the installation. However, you can do these 10 essential in my view things to do after installing Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster.

Finally something that works and doesn't need a lot of words! It worked with CD!
this is a great guide, I followed most steps but I think a lot of these steps are now enabled by the OS itself
thank you now I finally understand how to install OS when using manual partition
hello i have slightly weaker nvidia gpu and i cannot do more then light gaming on Garuda non the less i would assume this non rtx nvidia gpu (gtx 1050ti mobile) is enough to at least run valve engines. cpu is i7 8750h on hp omen laptop and nvme ssd. but for some reason on proprietary drivers which are installed natively i have encountered visual laggs with kde animation, even freezes with caps lock blinking especially when i run some game as simple as cry of fear (older gold source engine for half life).. i would add that on proton and on native games that work on steam for linux i cannot put full hd resolution, cs2 is unplayable on lowest settings. i am not encountering any of this issues on windows so it is not hardware related. only last thing to add is this nvidia optimus technology on laptops. it seems that pop os based on ubuntu has more out of the box support for this feature giving you at least option to use either only nvidia, intel or hybrid graphics while requiring reboot for this to take place .This is current Kernel: Linux 6.9.7-zen1-1-zen local/egl-wayland 2:1.1.13-2 EGLStream-based Wayland external platform local/garuda-nvidia-config 2:1.1.6-1 Meta configuration package for nvidia systems on Garuda Linux local/garuda-nvidia-prime-config 2:1.1.6-1 Meta configuration package for nvidia prime systems on Garuda Linux: local/gwe 0.15.9-1 A system utility for controlling NVIDIA GPUs local/lib32-libvdpau 1.5-2 Nvidia VDPAU library local/lib32-nvidia-utils 555.58-1 NVIDIA drivers utilities (32-bit) local/lib32-opencl-nvidia 555.58-1 OpenCL implemention for NVIDIA (32-bit) local/libvdpau 1.5-2 Nvidia VDPAU library local/libxnvctrl 555.58-1 NVIDIA NV-CONTROL X extension local/mhwd-nvidia 555.58.2-1 NVIDIA pci id list for MHWD local/mhwd-nvidia-390xx 390.143-1 mhwd-nvidia-390xx PCI ID database local/mhwd-nvidia-470xx 470.94-1 mhwd-nvidia-470xx PCI ID database local/nvidia-dkms 555.58-2 NVIDIA drivers - module sources local/nvidia-prime 1.0-4 NVIDIA Prime Render Offload configuration and utilities local/nvidia-settings 555.58-1 Tool for configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver local/nvidia-utils 555.58-2 NVIDIA drivers utilities local/opencl-nvidia 555.58-2 OpenCL implemention for NVIDIA local/xf86-video-nouveau 1.0.17-3 (xorg-drivers) Open Source 3D acceleration driver for nVidia cards Excuse me for long post i may write tl;dr later.

great video 🙏❤️
On my workstation with an SSD to boot from, I put a 10,000 RPM Velociraptor. I used part of it for the backup app called Timeshift because it needs it own EXT4 partition to make backups on the other part I made a Linux Swap partition. I notice if you run out of memory the 10k RPM drives recover quicker that is why I started using fast mechanical SATA III drives for swap.
is the method same for window(host) to archlinux(VM) ?
4 years later now. Yes it's a really great installer and the first time I have seen it was with Manjaro (not a distro that I can recommend though, just use vanilla Arch). But. For Debian my impression is that it still does not cover the full set of features from the Expert install, which I generally use. So it looks like there's still some work to do before it will actually be the distro default. If it's not going to work, it may be better to just improve the good old installer instead. Most importantly, make configuring Btrfs subvolumes simple with it. Now there still needs to be done a lot of extra work in the terminal. Which I exactly know how to do, because I am really technical, but that's all not a thing regular users will ever do.
Miss seeing your videos. They were always so helpful. Hope you will consider posting more in the near future - especially XFCE, Debian, and Ubuntu.
this is really good video i am from India and this video helped me
you should add your (amd/intel) -ucode.img to your bootloader, also ufw didnt work properly if iptables.service disabled
Amazing Video, to the point no bs. ❤
This is a great video, thank you! I watched several others who did not explain things very well. Your explanation was very clear and concise. This the best explained and demonstrated video on the subject that I have found. Well done!
Thank you, you saved my life! and my VM!
I don't see lightdm in settings. Why is it missing?
Thank you so much for this video. It helped me to resolve an issue that took hours from me. Thank you again.
Thank you for making this video
Epic
only found out about this now and did many of the changes. Did notice quite a performance boost. Thanks!
This man is just a saver
You help me so much
Now this is how you make a video... Awesome Job.
not working 😒
I hate it when my dependencies have DEPENDENCIES for them and then more dependencies
Thanks for this video and info. I am about to create an EFI partition on my Dell but I don't have it as an option in the menu. I only have the following options Ext4, XFS, Btrfs, VFAT and Swap...any advice here would be much appreciated. UPDATE. I went into the BIOS and change the Legacy to UEFI hybrid so that should be fine but after adding the partitions as you mentioned, the dialog menu is greyed out so I can't proceed. I am stuck again...any advice would be appreciated
Hello guys, I suggest you to setup dual boot configuration on 2 separate disks unless you wanna experience future possible headache due to bootloading conflicts.
Wow! That might have been a good instructional video IF you would have taken more time and went slower. I almost got motion sick watching your mouse travel at the speed of light.
for some reason it doesnt work for me anymore. It used to but now in the properties tab it says that the video is 0 seconds long. what went wrong??
what desktop manager is this?
.
I would recommend recording in .MKV format becasue if something breaks during the recording you will still have a working file you may need to translate the file format but that shouldn't be ab issue. Also kdenlive works with .mkv no problem.
how in the worl so much views with this little likes. Here, you've got one 👍
hello and thx for nice tutorial, i come6 years to late..lol... i have encrypted system and encrypted data hdd with same password, but when i boot it asks for 2 passowords. how to mount encrypted ssd and encrypted hdd with 1 password on boot?
by far the best post-install guide
ty
Thank you for this video
Thanks mate, amazing
Got one thing to say tho, installing Linux and then Chrome is kinda reduntant, assuming you want security and don't wanna be tracked, kinda goofy to install the one browser by the one company that is known for taking people's data and such. Otherwise, good video.
Thank you for the info. However, being bit lazy, I usually use "Stacer" uninstaller. No hassle!
Hi is it possible to enable drag and drop on destop to move files folders between files folders?
hello, how to decrypt encrypted systempartition + second encrypted hdd during boot with same password?
Nowadays, Ubuntu installation is way more simple than Windows. So I completely disagree with the first point. It support secure boot, it has beautiful and intuitive graphical installer with several options for automatic installation.
This explanation was super clear! Thank you!
If You prefer double click, there is another systen called Widnows
any guide for pop os
Thank you very much, I learned a lot.
