15 Things to Do After Installing Ubuntu 22.04 czcams.com/video/Cu4hrOYRt0c/video.html
Welcome back ALU, really missed your videos :)
So glad to hear that you are okay, been thinking about you and your family.
Thank you
Ура, видео. А то уже соскучился по вам :)
Welcome back bro glad to see you back much love from Morocco ♥️🇲🇦♥️
Thank you 🙌
Welcome back!
I installed Kubuntu from a USB that I'd created with dd onto a multi-boot Linux system and didn't have any issues (UEFI). It does boot slowly however. I have had a lot of other problems with booting from ISOs copied to USB with dd, mainly Windows, some Linux distros.
I personally would prefer to keep everything in APT, but understand that there are issues with that. Firefox is my main app too.
So far K/Ubuntu is working well for me although it's not my main distro. I'm running the GNOME variant in a VM.
Great to see your channel thriving!
It's both amazing and sad how so much of the user experience is dragged down by the insistence on snaps. If they worked as well as other packaging formats, then it seems like this review would have looked very different. I don't know if they are also the cause of the long boot time in this case, but they are know to contribute to that.
When it comes to the clipboard Wayland bug, it seems like it stems from GTK and will be fixed when Firefox and other affected apps upgrade to the fixed version. That is to say, it's a universal issue and not just on Ubuntu.
Thanks for that video. I was waiting for your review to decide if I upgrade to 22.04 or keep my 20.04. I will keep Focal Fossa. This channel is the best related to Linux and Ubuntu. Thanks again!
Thank you. I would recommend to wait 3-6 months before upgrading. 22.04 has many positive sides.
22.04 is way better than 20.04. Just my opinion.
I've watched a few other reviews or first looks, and none pointed out these shortcomings. I've never been an Ubuntu fan, and that's not about to change, despite improvements. I prefer Arch-based. To each their own.
Yeah, I have seen some extremely positive reviews too. But I speak only about my experience
After using manjaro, i wondered what makes me use ubuntu in the first place.
@@warnacokelat can you tell me why you like manjaro? I am looking into other distros.
@@Rafael-dj-c because of the Arch User Repository. really easy to use/browse for stuff. I don't like to use the terminal.
Thanks for your opinion. What Debian version you’re using and with what DE?
Thanks :))
When I installed Ubuntu 22.04 and tried to open firefox it took 5 seconds to load on a nvme ssd... I noticed immediately the worst have been made and installed firefox-esr via the ppa. It's terrible that canonical still push snap on lts versions despite all the issues
@Average Linux User Hi can you please tell me how much hours of battery life you have on 22.04 and which Linux distro gives you the best battery life , I use Fedora 35
22.10 installer window dissapears during installation, cursor spinning cycle is not stuck. Has anyone encountered this? Please help! Cant install on usb
I tried to install ubuntu & ubuntu mate 22.04 in my 2014 Asus x555Ld, I found out that Bluetooth is not working I can't even turn it on and even connected to my wifi it say check internet connection, I don't know what is the reason behind. If you have any good idea how to fix that issue in ubuntu & ubuntu mate 22.04 kindly share it to us. Thank you.
Another issue I discovered is the PDF document viewer does not Save current settings when you change them such as setting the zoom to 50%. It forgets the settings every time. Still do not like Snaps because they are slow but I don't use Firefox anyway so whatever but I did install the Snap version of Spotify and it opens very quickly but it's mostly a web app anyway. Otherwise, I have to say this is the best Ubuntu I've seen in a long time.
I don't notice any long boot up times after installation only during the initial 'Try Ubuntu' setup on boot media.
I found problem with nvidia cooler. it didn't work. GPU temp on idle was ~50-55C. Cooler didn't work not with nvidia settings, it was set on 0 and "failed to apply" when changed, also didn't work with Greewithenvy (gwe).
the cursor and the brightness adjustments dont work, if there is anyone with suggestions
The number of 22.04 issues I've encountered so far is so high I am virtually not using the new laptop I had intented to migrate to. From relatively minor (some adjustments like screen brightness stopped working) to major ones, e.g. I cannot save files from browsers to any location other than the default, python2 apps are no longer supported or it's really tricky to install them (e.g. Mendeley). Some problems took days to resolve.
A relatively minor thing yet really annoying is that you can no longer use custom key combinations for keyboard layout, e.g. Ctrl+Shift: GNOME Tweaks switches the layout but it is not indicated on language icon. Only Win+Space works ok.
good title, well said
Дякую за огляд)
It also broke my Bluetooth connectivity, sometimes it works but mostly it refuses to connect to my devices. If it does connect then the sound output menu is missing the entry of my Bluetooth speakers so I still don't hear anything. Nothing has helped so far
Hi, nice video 👍
I think that ubutnu 22.04 was not ready to release, like windows 8 was not ready in that sense that all development stuff was not ready.
In ubuntu 22.04 snap environment is not ready. Snap uses multipass (like docker) images to create packages, and they provided only ubuntu 20.04 as the newest version of the image :/
Funny thing is that when I build a program locally it works (because it uses local toolchains) when I build a snap package it uses toolchains from 20.04 and the program doesn't work.
He's back!!!! Did you remember how to operate your video editing software? hahahaha Glad to see you again. Best wishes for your family.
Just say no to Ewebuntu. While I prefer MX, there are several distros that are dependable for daily driver better than Ewebuntu.
Haha... I did forget some... It took me longer than before to edit this video.
I had the SAME install issue. Thought it was just my hardware. Using a Thinkpad X1 Carbon that had no problems installing Ubuntu form USB for previous versions. I gave up and installed Mint.
Thank for sharing this. I was afraid I was alone 🙂
I have had a different experience. My Ubuntu os working truly fine. I do not face boot time, snap or innittial app oroblems. For real! My system smoothly.
installed ubuntu 22.04 cinnamon works like a charm
cheers mate
@8:00 the failure of the clipboard is actually a GNOME bug not a firefox bug. GNOME seems to keep the clipboard state in the app and only put a pointer to that state in the clipboard, so when the app closes the clipboard state dies with the app. Even if you install a persistent clipboard tool like clipman etc, the copy never actually hits the clipboard unless you successfully paste it once before you close the source app. This is not new and this has been driving people crazy ever since GNOME 3 rose to infamy/popularity. Sadly, this bug persists even if you install a different window manager, as it's the GNOME UI libraries that Firefox is relying on which implements this insane behaviour. I've been able to reliably crash "Files" by renaming a zip file that has a thumbnail from the console while its parent directory is being viewed in Files.
During this time I used mx linux and wanted to move to ubuntu but it turned out that there were still many bugs, sadly it felt 😪
Hey ,
Average Linux User, Please make a video about kde neon iso verification. Love your video 👍👍
It is actually noticeably quicker to boot on my old laptop. That is pretty weird.
It's very plaisant when a youtuber explain why an OS is ugly. With your examples, iut's so easy to understand. RM Stallman says : "it's time to stop using Ubuntu"; I think it's for snap issues and performance. Thanks
Hopefully these issues will be resolved in the first point update
Ubuntu is no longer what it used to be... You are very polite describing all the issues... The truth is, Ubuntu is a piece of crap now, not going to describe in full detail about that... Much better to use anything else
I like Ubuntu as a base in KDE Neon and other distros. But as a vanilla desktop distro it has some flaws unfortunately.
3:48 I don't understand. you say it takes 35 seconds to boot and we see it took 44.691 seconds. was it two different system, one took 35 seconds and this one took 44.691 seconds?
when I installed ubuntu 22.04 got installation crashed how can I fix it?
Try to install again
@@AverageLinuxUser I tried again and again but it still error my laptop MSI notebook
If Ubuntu lasted longer on laptop battery I would use it as my daily. I wonder if there are any improvements with battery and power optimization? I think that is the best thing that attracts users at this time.
If you use the new power modes you can save some battery time
I have lived with 22.04 for a week now. My experience with the Grub boot loader is problematic. Previous versions just worked. This version makes me have to deal with the uefi partician manually. Formerly, grub took care of everything. In order to get sterio sound, I have to load openal and install manually. Former versions took care of this. It looks like the use of PipeWire for sound needs some work in this version of Ubuntu. In order for Java to work properly, libFuse2 must be installed manually. Formerly, it was included. I use linux for flight simulation. The above issues are so annoying to me that I have gone back to the current version of Mint Cinnamon because everything just works. Canonical, get these kinds of things sorted out before you release a new version.
Is it K.K. Slider music?
i dont get what is wrong with snaps, i find it very usefull and i have no issues with them, coming form windows
POP Os 22.04 LTS Review Please.
Thanks for the request. I will try
I abandoned Ubuntu due to several problems with Snap, in addition to the non-updates of the core Gnome applications. I switched to Fedora and luckily everything has been fine so far :)
As I don't care for snaps, I will continue to only install Ubuntu systems in virtual machines, for testing purposes.
I'll stick with Mint as my primary Linux system on all my computers.
Bluetooth is terrible, I've a laggy mouse (wired and bluettoth) also mouse back button doesn't work in file picker.
And btw bugs are not yet fixed.
Canonical messed up big this time
I killed snap crap and found firefox also has a flatpak...
You forgot that Appimages break/ don't work on Ubuntu
How do you increase decrease fan speed as Ubuntu does not manage it properly. And laptops gets hotter and hotter.
fujitsu siemens laptop (ancient) 2 core duo 3Gb ram, firefox/youtube locks the whole system,
other browser (chrome based) plays video fine, probably not a snap ...
Cheers friend, the world is united with Ukraine. Thanks for your message and for your hard work in these difficult times. Take care and more especially, your family and friends.
Thank you very much!
Agreed on waiting 3 months. At that time, a point release 22.04.1 will be available and that should be the same time that LTS users are prompted to upgrade.
Yeah - Snaps are the bane of my Ubuntu experience. Not only that, they pollute the output of the df command. Frankly, if I was to compare snaps and Unity - it'll be Unity ALL THE TIME!
I really hope Canonical kill off snaps on the desktop. They are handy on a server, but they are nowhere near ready for the desktop!
You can fix the Firefox snap and the boot time by using unsnap by Alan Pope to transition everything to Flatpak
Flatpak has worse boot times since it's a container, not just a namespacing tool.
@@dial2616 I thought Snaps were containers too?
Neither Snaps nor Flatpaks, Native Deb packages are much faster but yeah Flatpak is much faster and better than Snaps..
@@sameersharma3600 snaps are traditionally better than flatpaks, but mostly because flatpaks are just *bad*. since nobody is paid to develop flatpaks there's like 500+ open issues on github and no verified packages. a lot of people could be running flatpaked malware without even knowing it.
@@dial2616 Flatpaks are isolated, making malware would be difficult, people would just distribute malware as deb
Snap is just killing Ubuntu for sure.
fingerprint sensor is not working plz help me out
I think they should rollback. But probably they will fix it otherwise.
I prefer Xubuntu than fatty Ubuntu with GNOME!!
I'll stay with Fedora, this has no advantages over Fedora in fact it's not as good in my opinion.
I have heard that the last Fedora release is impressive. I need to try it.
I run Fedora as a daily driver and one other distro for distro-hopping on my ageing laptop. Never had a good enough experience with Ubuntu to stick with it. With 22.04 I'm having trouble with log-in manager freezes. So I'd say - stick with Fedora!
No Ubuntu for me.🧐
Not to Forget, this update screwed my perfectly working wifi with qualcomm atheros card. Wifi is literally unusable.
Sorry to hear that
Use arch based btw

Average Kinux user. Sums me up perfectly... :P
Your video title remind me of my ex
If Ubuntu was my only choice, I would stay with Windows
Try Linux Mint
Try Manjaro
I have even worse experience with Ubuntu 22.04. I made a mistake to put it on my work laptpo. OMG....
Love the Ukrainian support Tux.
Garbage distro!
Only snap make it garbage, overwise ubuntu is a pretty solid distro
