Can we fix this broken M1 MacBook Air?
In March I purchased this M1 MacBook Air on eBay, it had a broken LCD screen and would not boot.
The seller couldn't get the OS to install, have I just wasted my money??
Note: Obviously in the beginning of the video I had already got it to boot, but it was most definitely stuck unable to download install media and boot up.
Whether or not you like Mac, it's highly efficient sub 20 watt ARM CPU, using it all day off a single charge is impressive.
One of its best features is not having to use Microsoft Windows! ;)
Buy a Macbook on eBay: ebay.us/Y11Jjc
Buy a Macbook on eBay Australia: ebay.us/3pQCR2
Click on For Parts Not working, click on Sort: Price + postage lowest.
Read the description thoroughly, don't take the risk if you're not sure if you can fix it!
I personally recommend a large capacity thumbnail drive for additional storage, but go for 16GB of RAM if you want to do any serious work on it and can afford it..
Happy bargain hunting!

      That’s a valid opinion sure, although a new keyboard from Apple is AUD $139+. Similar quality keyboards are also up over $100. A used Apple keyboard is from $39 from eBay. I bought bulk lots and fixed many using my methods. That being said I wouldn’t bother trying to fix a Microsoft, Dell because it’s simply not worth the effort.

      @FixTechStuff Před měsícem

      In the description I wrote: "if you don't own or have access to a 3D printer you could always make the tool out of wood if you are a bit handy." You could get a piece of broom handle, drill a hole and sand it to size with a drill or something. See if your local library or some other organisation has a 3D printer. My $149 3D printer has more than paid itself off with all of the useful things I've repaired or made, so it was money well spent.

    • @peterxyz3541
      @peterxyz3541 Před měsícem

      The 3d printer does cost (at least $99 new, with promotion price at microcenter); but, missing the point of this vid: Less money = more brain Or the internet meme: Girl’s voice: “How are you so good in so many things” Guy’s voice, sound of frustration, sound of exhaustion, a bit of prideful flex: “when you’re poor, you learn how to do many things” Or…the point of this vid: Outthink your problems. If I done have a 3d printer (I don’t), I would use a drill attachment (cheap at harborfreight) for sanding. What if it’s the wrong size? Another opportunity for you..me to flex and either roll up extra tape or sand paper to size or spin the attachment against sand paper to reduce the size. “How are you so good with so many things”. “Poverty, baby! Either grow or starve😂”

    I know its an old video but there are many vids of these sunkomachines. It appears that the 110v are the most problematic. A simple rewire of the transformer secondary winding will cure the problem . Rewind it with same gauge wire but get as many turns as possible , two three . I havea 240 v model worked on very thin nick3l strip but not so good on the thicker stuff. I rewired it by adding more wire to the supplied winding .vids show how its done . Works verh well now on 60% . Only way to undo welds is tear the metal or grind it off. Have a go it took me a couple of hours and was well worth tge effort.

    One of the big problems in UK winters is that the propane evaporates first leaving, at half weight, mainly butane which doesn't evaporate quickly enough to give a significant flame. I figure if I refill at that point back to just below the original weight it should allow more of the contents to be used without exceeding the original pressure significantly. Probably the next refill should be back to 3/4 weight, then 1/2 weight. That canister can then be saved for summer use.

      I wouldn't say it's off, but 200C is out of its 0 C to 80 C range. I think for the price and most purposes it is adequate, certainly for what I use it for.

      @@FixTechStuff well as long as the values below 100 are accurate then I think I'll buy one but 150C max would be great as lots of ICs have the max operational temperature set at about 90-100C so for these ICs such as power regulators this sensor would be pretty useless

    Great video! No bs, directly to the point, with every information you need to solve this and similar faults.

    Oh, yes. Over here, in North America, we have the Whirlpool family of washers with a certain undervalue capacitor on various boards. Replace it and your gold. A few dollars for parts as opposed to hundreds for the board. Now, one can not say with certainty that it was designed to fail...just, I've never repaired a board from direct drive machines which had any other fault....

      😁 Fantastic to hear actually, those of us who are handy can make the most out of these things. When I had my repair shop my father kept meticulous notes and we’d submit the repair notes to a fault book here in Australia. So many things fail in the exact same way.

    If it were me, I would also tested the capacitors to make sure they were still in spec, since they might have experienced unusual load.

      Yes indeed, that's a good idea. The 2 electrolytic's would be easy to replace. I'll definitely check them if it fails again.

    Who is Noah Vale and why would anyone try adjusting to him?
