The World's Largest Shadow Employer - Accenture
Have you ever heard of a company called Accenture? Well, they’re actually the 4th largest employer in the world with 733,000 employees worldwide. Most of you have likely never heard of Accenture though and that’s by design. Accenture is a consulting company headquartered in Ireland and they help all of the biggest companies and governments in the world with their busy work and their dirty work. Before being headquartered in Ireland, Accenture was actually headquartered in Bermuda. And before they were headquartered in Bermuda, they were just a subsidiary of an accounting firm called Arthur Andersen (the same Arthur Andersen that was involved in the Enron scandal). So, while Accenture primarily employs white-collar individuals, their services are much more in the gray area. This video explains the rise and controversies surrounding one of the largest background companies in the world: Accenture.

The Dire State Of Intel...What Happened?
zhlédnutí 121KPřed dnem
Once upon a time, Intel was by far the strongest player in the semiconductor industry. In fact, the famous Moore’s Law was created by Intel’s founder and everyone was familiar with the Intel jingle. But, fast forward a few decades, and Intel is in more pathetic state than ever. One of the main reasons for this is that Intel became stagnant after conquering the consumer CPU market. They’re still...
What Happened To Corsair?

Corsair is one of the biggest names when it comes to computer hardware. Over the past decade, they’ve made a name for themselves as the premium computer hardware maker who’s known for their RGB and over-the-top designs. More recently though Corsair hasn’t been doing so well. In fact, Corsair stock is down 76% and the company is barely breaking even despite having been in business for 30 years. ...
Amazon's Unbearable Quality...

For quite some time now, most of Amazon has been filled up with a bunch of garbage. Usually, you’re paying markups of 80-90% because most of the cost is just going toward convenience and logistics. For years, consumers put up with this quality contro...
Airbnb Screwed Up The Housing Market…And Is Doing Better Than Ever

Was Toyota Right About EVs All Along?

Despite all the hype we’ve seen with EVs over the past couple of years, one automaker that has refused to jump onto the trend is Toyota. Melodramatic bullshit content. Accenture is based in Dublin, didn’t move there for tax reasons. Also what does it even mean “working in the shadows”? Just because you morons haven’t heard from the firm before? Thirdly, there are a hundred of other points which you could criticize - also firms such as McKinsey provide better angles to criticize from a business ethics standpoint

Interesting that their support seems to be so fucked up... I've only had to deal with it 2 times: needing spare parts. Each time not only did they provide me with way more stuff than I need (mounting hardware and cables) they also sent me everything free of charge. However I didn't had to RMA something yet so I don't know about that part

When I was working as a contractor at Intel, I had a conversation with a principal engineer about the moronic decision to put the world's cheapest thermal paste between the IHS and die on Ivybridge in the light of reports of overheating CPUs in early 2013. The engineer said to me, "Sure, it's a problem, but what are people going to do? Move to AMD? Hahaha." He didn't like my response, "Not now, but give AMD 5 years and they will." In fact, he gave me a perfect shocked Pikachu face. None of this surprises me one bit, and given that principal engineer's attitude was pervasive throughout the company when I left in 2016, I wouldn't give you a plugged nickel for Intel's stock.

Frankly their competition is too stiff. Sure their stuff is ok, definitely not special at all anymore, but you can get other brands products with the same quality and specs for half the cost. Also no one likes icue. Bloatware, spyware, and adware, all in one convenient package. Edit: I would also add, almost everything Corsair has made that has been notably good, they didn’t make. They never made their own psus, their good ones were made by seasonic. They never made their own Aios, always asetek then they switched to coolit. Memory, chips are made by Samsung, Hynix, or micron. Corsair just does the heat spreader and pcb. I will admit, the pcb is highly important for stability, but other companies do good pcbs like g skill and teamgroup. Peripherals are a little different. Their keyboards are fine but 2x more than what they should cost compared to competitors. They’ve never had great mice compared to their competitors, same for headphones and even mousepads.

My new rig was built in a Corsair 5000T case, one of the case fans came connected incorrectly (only 2 pins connected). RGB worked but fan didn't spin. Connected it properly, fan spins & RGB works but fan doesn't show up to the system to adjust fan curves. Great. Powered the rig with an RM1000e PSU. 4 days into use the PSU died. Will not provide any power to the mobo. Killed the Corsair RAM I had installed too. No idea if it's killed/damaged anything else (storage, CPU, GPU) so my brand new 7800X3D/4090 system is just sitting in pieces while I wait for my RMA to finish so I can re-build my system and test everything else. At which point I guess I just hope I can get any other damaged items replaced under warranty. I guess I also just hope that my second PSU doesn't decide to blow as well because I don't really want to have to drop another ~$300-400NZD on another PSU. Do. Not. Buy. Corsair.

Incredibly simplistic video; a deep tone in your voice doesn't necessarily mean that you've done some actual analysis. And if you don't know Accenture, you probably live under a rock. 1. US Salaries are not representative of the whole firm. In many countries, only accenture directors make 90K a year. 30% of Accenture employees are in India. 2. Management consulting has nothing to do with what you described; most companies simply ignore the advice given to them if they don't agree with it. If a CEO blames a consulting firm for a mistake, the board will fire them first thing in the morning. And Accenture is not even a management consulting firm like McKinsey; it's primarily a tech consulting firm, which means it works primarily with clients to install business solutions. Like it or not, no firm can do it all by themselves. A bunch of coding nerds don't know how to do their books, and a bunch of 50yo accountants don't know tech; they both pay consultants to do the job. 3. Accenture is so massive because it's the world's largest subcontractor. It's not as much consulting as it is "renting out tech-savvy employees to our clients". That's the dirty side of Accenture. It underpays overworked graduates in India and other countries so that it can offer much lower rates than its competitors. You could have easily found all this by doing some actual research.

Things have gotten even worse at Amazon. In 2023, they announced that all employees must be in-office at least three days a week. That includes people who were hired pre-pandemic with a promise of being able to work remotely. I don't have actual numbers, but there have been multiple reports of people who worked remote moving to be close to their assigned office, then being laid off (I was laid off from Amazon in 2023). Since then, there are increasing reports of people having a good annual review but being put in a performance improvement plan, which almost always ends with the employee leaving.
