Although we still have the neo wretched puritanical brigade trying to force women into being lesser now. Thankgod I live in Australia, it's not perfect by any means but it's secular, most people are liberally minded and we have healthcare.

I love some of the patterns in the Nancy Vale book, my Mum has a copy of it. I want to get better at knitting Fair Isle, so I can try out a couple of the patterns in the book and a few of the Susan Crawford ones too.

Hi Lisa what a lovely video, good to see you!! I'm literally wearing my Drops Nepal jumper in Olive Mix right now. If you don't mind tidying up some pilling here and there, it's so lightweight and cosy! I've bought a load of their DK Lima for a colourwork I've got planned next, I just love their yarn, so affordable when Woolwarehouse have a sale too. At the moment I'm knitting socks though, I made 1 pair for the learning experience and my whole family went nuts, now I have 6 pairs to make and they bought the yarn too, so I have no excuse. They're quicker than a whole jumper or cardi though. Take care and send me some sun, even with the cosy jumper and the Uniqlo heat-tech underneath I'm freezing....

Thank you so much for this video. My mother passed away 40 years ago and I could not bring myself to throw out her knitting patterns. Many of them are 30/40/50s and I can even remember her wearing some of them Thank you for the memories and I am off to get them out now, to see what I can knit😂

I'm off to see the Glenn Miller Orchestra towards the end of the year (saw them in Brighton in April and thoroughly enjoyed it). I've promised myself I'd knit a cardigan to wear for it and I'm definitely considering knitting the Wendy Wools one if i can find it. It's lovely.

I really like the Wendy Wools cardigan you're knitting. It'll look lovely when you've finished. I have the 1940s modern knitting book as well. I have about 4 books from that series. There's some lovely patterns in them.

I always love your knitting content. Makes me want to make cardigans. Working on finger weight summer tops right now. Jan jumper from Susan Crawford. I knit that one in the morning because you have to pay attention a little bit with it. And then the Lola jumper for night time just stocking net knitting.

So many lovely knits. I am trying really hard to finish off my pile right now. But you're giving me the itch to cast on something new! I have the Datemaker pattern as well. I've been wanting to make that for ages and now I think that's going to be one of my next knits... But I have to put my blinders on and finish the pile I have now. LOL ❤❤

Oh yes I love to knit or do EPP whilst watching tv.📺 My grandmother and mother never had idle hands and I think I inherited that. Love the shade of blue. Drops yarn is fabulous. What is the name / number of that Wendy cardigan you are making ? Oh I just found it on Etsy 👍👍 I’ve run out mid knit 🧶 too, so started on something else; Susan Crawford Vol 2 Golden Eagle Ladies jumper with Drops Alpaca 🦙 in dark charcoal and bright pink that I had in my stash to use up.

If you put your musty smelling book in a sealed bag with a small tub of bicarbonate of soda it should help.

Just discovered your channel, and have to admit to a bit of binge watching (primarily because I love fashion history, and will jump at the chance to learn more). The history and discussion of shirt dresses was really interesting. I love the Hawthorne blouses, and will definitely have to check out Wearing History now! Oh.. one more thing: your tribute to The Vampire’s Wife Skyrocket dress was absolutely stunning, and so relatable now with the shop having to shutter due to the shoddy PE acquisition of Matches. The more I read about it, the worse it seems to be. Private equity firms in the US seem to buy up all of our healthcare providers and hospitals, so they have an especially nasty reputation here. Wonderful choice of fabric, and it was hopefully a huge hit at both events you were able to wear it to. Thanks for your wisdom regarding fashion history and I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

I love Dior’s designs. He really was the face of the New Look. Sadly, however, I think Jacques Griff is severely underrated as a designer. He knew fabrics, he knew draping, he knew construction. His tulle skirts look almost architectural. He honestly was one of the best, in my exceedingly humble (and very limited in knowledge) opinion.

I only discovered Wearing History recently when I was making a vintage blouse with only holes for markings 🙃and I could not fathom out the front bodice with collar all in one and a dart at the neck…I have almost finished it but have put it to one side as I found the joining of the shoulder/neck point to the collar is not my neatest work😊 l love your self drafted collared dress. Thank you for your lovely update Lisa. I love your new Hawthorn blouses and your dresses are gorgeous. I totally understand being challenged by makes with unsettled weather. I was supposed to be making clothes to take on holiday later this year and ended up making two winter tops to wear with jeans, since it's a wet & cold winter in NZ. But I'm so pleased I did make the tops and I'm happy to start to making my holiday clothes now 😍

I visited Sissinghurst garden a few years ago, absolutely worth a visit. You can see Vita’s writing room, and the library. It was so inspiring! And the garden is beautiful. I visited in September and the garden was full of flowers.

🤩 I LOVE that bag! And I love that you can just whip up a hand drawing and produce a gorgeous piece! 😁 I hope to give this a try - I've got tons of scraps and it would be so fun to wear.
