  • The start to 2024 wasn’t quite the peaceful or joyful start here that I would have preferred. I’ve been pretty incapacitated with a really painful back issue that’s making it hard to walk and sleep. Creating content for social media has been difficult as concentrating when I’m in pain isn’t too easy. In a moment of slight relief I filmed this latest chat for you a couple of weeks ago and have only just edited it to show you my latest knit, reveal my newest knitting projects, give you a peek inside a marvellous vintage knitting book I found on my birthday and think about what I’d like to be sewing when I can actually sit at my machine again.
It’s been weeks since I last sewed which is a really strange feeling. I look at my fabric and see what it can become, but don’t have the energy at the moment to cut it out. I’m definitely healing though with treatment, so fingers crossed not much longer now before I’m back to my usual self.
I hope you enjoy my video as I much as I love having you join me here. To get notified when I post my videos, it would be lovely if you subscribed to join me in my creative and sewing world.

Lovely to see you back Lisa! My mum just picked up that same knitting book for me from the charity shop she volunteers at. If only I had your knitting skills! Love the fabrics ❤

Thanks Samantha 💖 isn’t it a fabulous book, lucky your mum saw it for you. I’ve been knitting for so long now, but I think just hunkering down and doing a lot really pushed my skills on. You’ll be the same after lots of knitting too 💖

Just love the jumper you have on. Love the pattern of the fair isle as well. I was planning on making a jumper based on Squidney knits Homefront jumper. I'm a big pink fan but I'm more of a summer colors compared to your true winter color so I think instead of the black I'm going to gray, cream, and a soft magenta on pink background. I have all these color in 4ply wool on hand. I just need to finish up the WIP's I have only needles.
I love the swatches you have made for the Susan Crawford cardigan. I think I would knit it in the round and go for the steeking. I think in the long run not having to pearl in colorwork will be faster and easier and there are so many great tutorials on CZcams how to steek properly.
I'm in love with all your plans for the black and pink florals and that the other pink Cardigan you cast on is a perfect match. Can't wait for your next video. 🎉

Thanks Marilys. Sounds a perfect colour match and so lucky you already have those colours. I’ll have a look at steeking videos as you suggest and see if I’m brave enough to give it a go, thanks for the encouragement ☺️ 💖

Happy birthday (only a little bit late) and Happy New Year!! So good to see you wonderful self, glad the thrifting fairies blessed you on your b'day. I never see books like that here. Although I always find old woman's magazines from the 50's to the 70's, there's always a good knitting pattern or two in them and lots of unwanted articles on the importance of being slim and having youthful skin.
I love how realistic you are with projects.... buuuuttttt I'm still waiting to see the pants you make with that lovely green denim, it was such a score and I never see that colour in the shops. Also that Anouk cardi is such a winner, I wish I knew the designer was taking down all her patterns on Ravelry, I would have bought loads, I love her style.
I hate to say I'm not convinced about the yarn choice for the fairisle and only because I think the blue is too dark and I don't know maybe looks too strong for palette? That's probably also an unwanted opinion like the Women's Weekly articles 😁

      @bobobun  Před 6 měsíci

Confession time here Hannah 😳 I gave the green jeans to charity as I never wore them. Love them off but they went with absolutely nothing and made me feel frumpy which was such a shame.
I agree with you about the colour palette but more I think I need to change it all up really. Might be why I’ve not started it yet as still not sure about my colour choices.
Love the old fashioned ideas in those magazines like you ❤️

I love the pink you have chosen for your cardigan. I tried to get this pattern but thus far unable too. 🥲. Both your Fair Isle swatches are lovely. I’m sure what ever you decide will be perfect. Glad to see you slowly on the mend. Xx ❤️🌺

Happy Birthday for 29th Dec, same day as my Neice, mine is 26th and my Great Neice is 20th! Busy time for us at Christmas. My Mum was a beautiful knitter, I didn't inherit that gene sadly. I can crochet though. Love your pink jumper.

Just catching up with your video. The homage to "vintage x Kate Bush" cardigan is also on my to do list. The colour combination for your Cloudbusting carding is beautiful. I actually think the slightly warmer pink makes the combination and pulls everything together. Steeking is both terrifying but also exhilarating. With the yarn you've chosen though, I would definitely do a crocheted reinforcement for the extra strength. With a sticky 100% wool Shetland style yarn, you don't need reinforcement but between the alpaca and nylon I would say, go for the extra security of a crochet (rather than zig zag stitch) reinforcement.

Sorry I missed your comment, found it now so a late reply. I’ve held off knitting it as I’m still not 100% convinced of the colours. Thanks so much for your tips, I really appreciate it 💖

Hi Lisa I’m knitting maggy by Susan Crawford at the moment , I’m doing my first steeks and I was scared of messing up too. But my husband has encouraged me to just go for it , he has faith I can do it 😊 ,I’ve just got to the part where you reinforce the steek before cutting its scary 😂

Thank you for such a nice video. I love your knitting choices. That cardigan pattern is no more. Would you suggest a similar alternative. Hello from Canada where it is ok to knit the wooly wool sweaters- we can use them. Look forward to seeing your fair isle

@@GagaKnits I don’t wash them too much during the winter as I rotate wearing them all, but on the radiator they go. Probably not ideal, but that’s what I do Anita 💖
