This channel is for the purpose of sharing some of my projects with others and potentially helping them with their own projects. Hopefully, some of my videos will be entertaining as well. Thank you for subscribing to my channel. I have had an interest in the automobile since I was about 6 years old. I once made a living as an engine rebuilder for a local Automotive Machine Shop. In my younger days, I raced the dirt tracks of the Southwest in Sprint Cars, Modifieds, and Stock Cars. Now I pretty much just restore, rebuild, and customize cars, trucks, and motorcycles of all makes. I like everything automotive, including gas station memorabilia. I have always done my own fabrication including mechanical, paint & body, and upholstery. It is just a hobby that gives me great satisfaction. I do not have a business and I am not for hire.

excellent modification
Dick- you did a masterful job of fabricating the exhaust for your Corvette. I was wondering if you considered an X-pipe or an H-pipe in the system. I have a C5 with the LS1 and Chevy used an H-pipe supposedly to tune the exhaust drone out of the system. I’ve also heard that the crossover pipes equalize pressure between cylinder banks which improves performance. Just found your channel and I love it. You are a master craftsman and truly a soon all trades automotive.
I meant to type Jack of all trades automotive.
Yes, I considered it but eventually decided it was more trouble than it was worth. Thanks for your comment.
Does it run better with airbox ?
No, but it looks a lot cleaner in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
My winter project. Thanks for the preview of what is to come.
BAck in the day, we ( Auto Glass shop) used the yellow WS adhesive and after applying it, we would stick the Weatherstrip against it then pull it away and let it set up for a few minutes or longer, then attach the weatherstrip.... It seemed to stick well that way....
I have even put it together wet and tape it down until it dries and had good luck with that too. This video shows the way you're supposed to do it I believe.
Allright, a Dick Shaw video..... let me get my coffee......
Hard to find any videos of transmission swaps to 700r4 into a c2 corvette what clearance problems?
Question, did you ever do video showing you put body to see how it fit on the frame with new transmission and engine to see if you had transmission clearance on transmission tunnel and engine???
Yes, I sure did! Plenty of clearance too!
Thanks, the auto industry has improved in this area lots of pin clips and 2 sided tape now a days. It's great to see the old school way done right.
You bet!
Great video! You just save me a lot of $! Been searching how to add parking break to my Fast track Roadster Shop Chassis Keep up the good work!
Glad I could help!
I understand you probably want to keep the car as true to it's original form as possible, but getting a radiator with side tanks instead of top/bottom tanks will allow the water more time in the radiator, thus making it cooler when it exits. On the other hand, I have a rad with side tanks in my 429-equipped 64 Fairlane, and it still overheats at lights/in traffic (like your Tbird does), so maybe it would be a pointless change after all. :) I'm about to install a pusher version of the flex-a-lite on my car because I don't enough room to mount a puller fan along with the requisite shroud.
Thanks for the comment. I hope the fan helps your situation.
Great video! Appreciate the details as well. My 65 needs the same flairs removed. Question? Where did you buy the flair repair sections? Thank you
Thanks for watching, I hope it is helpful. I bought my replacement panels from Ecklers when I got this car a couple years ago. I was just look at their website and couldn't find them now, but Zip Corvette sells them, www.zip-corvette.com/63-67-c2/body-fiberglass/corvette-body-panels-fiberglass/fender-flare-repair.html . Probably some others as well.
The lights look awesome on the car, you got good taste on how to do a car. Thanks for posting.🐞
Thanks for watching!
Is this similar to the strategy used on the 240?
Basically the same, but working with fiberglass this time.
Hey! You wore gloves. At first I thought OH NO, but as I watched it got better and better. Good work!
Thanks 👍
Thanks Dick, very cool idea and turned out great.
Thank you Joseph. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch most of my videos and for your comments.
@@DickShaw I'm glad you make them and i know comments help thanks again
I did a 65 coupe in Atomic Orange. Awesome color
Thanks, Atomic orange is an awesome color and one that I considered before settling on Daytona Sunset.
Nice work. About how long of a process is that?
Thanks for watching. Just to install the replacement panel is a few days because you have wait time between the steps. I spent a lot more time because I was stripping all the paint off the whole body and making a lot of repairs elsewhere and then going through the process of primer/block sanding/ paint.
Love the orange! Great work
Thank you!
Dick, are you keeping this car when finished or going to sell it?
Planning to keep this one.
good idea. It is coming out great!
Nice job. I do love Nassau blue. That is my favorite color. I love Mosport green too. Your orange color looks great!
Thank you!
Awesome job & great hints.
Thanks so much!
Excellent work! I’m learning a lot! Thanks for the videos. I hope you filmed the paint in depth.
Beautiful. Great work.
You made that look way too easy.....
Thanks Dick , man that is awesome ! the work the color just really good
Thank you!
Glad to see you take those flairs off, they were awful. The color choice is a good one and yes, there’s only about a billion of those out there now 😂 My choice would have probably been white with a red interior but it’s not my car 😁👍🏻Looks really great Dick and that orange will stand out. Hope your having a great Father’s Day 😁👋🏻
Thanks and same to you.
Good ridden flairs
Cool trip
Cool thanks Dick great to see all these cars
I saw the Pantera and thought that looks out of place, but the newest it could be is 74... It looks modern by todays standards...
Where is Home??
Albuquerque. Thanks for watching.
Dont take anything less than $60k.
Great video, it helped me locate some of the bolts - I hadn't realised there were some under the sill plates. You make it look easy!
Glad I could be of help.
Great video ! Thank you !!!
Glad you liked it!
Excellent video and as he said if there is a vibration it can be balanced at a drive line shop
Hows it running with the more modern transmission fluid? Its near impossible to find the "right" fluid everyone talks about where im from and pretty much only that is around.
Transmission shifts perfectly. Thanks for watching.
Would love to own this
Looks great. Good luck.
Hope you do well with the sale but I'll definitely miss watching all the various videos of you working on it (and teaching me what I need to know for my '73 Z restoration along the way). Thanks for all the help!
Better designed systems and parts are available and will save u lots of time. Your work is impressive.
Thank you very much!
WOW! Absolutely fabulous colour in the sunshine ... Well Done! I had the Louvres on my FORD Capri in the 80s ... until some Jerk stole 'em ... Grrrrrrr. (Keith from NE England)
very nice job and filming
Thank you.
Gm drive system in to bulky
Yes, it is a little bulky but some of the alternatives are really expensive.
Heater outlets will hit rt upper control arm
With the minor modifications I've made, I have just enough clearance.
Great looking project Dick, good luck with the sale.
Thanks.
Beautiful job seems better than brand new
Great job Dick. Best of luck with the sale 👍🏻
Thanks.
Super nice should bring some big money.
The Datsun 'Z' looks nice, you have restored it in very good taste, nearly to factory look nothing over the top. It is a car that gives that 1970's fun driving pleasure when cars were cars and everything was so simple yet colourfull. Nostalgic memories of those good ol' days.🐞
Couldn't agree more!
Great attention to detail, as always. Hope it goes to a good home!
I hope so too!
