ZF 6 Speed Transmission Solenoid Replacement
After already replacing my trans pan and mechatronic seals I got a fault for shift valve number 1. I had to dig back into the trans to replace the shift solenoids. It's actually a pretty easy job to take on.
For a detailed video explaining how to remove the mechatronics unit see my previous video where I also replace the seals. -czcams.com/video/Gepkug1SEM8/video.html

    Want to blow your mind? Read the owner's manual and you will see that "normal driving conditions" are NOT what we typically drive on a regular basis. We actually drive "extended or more than normal or even harsh/extreme" conditions. That means the extended oil changes are not really supposed to happen. You are not supposed to let your oil go for 5k or10k mi if you drive more than 8k to 10k mi a year, drive in dirty/dusty areas, drive for short and multiple stops and distances, drive in stop and go traffic, drive in congested traffic, idle even a minute amount of time etc. We all drive in those conditions on a regular basis and a majority of people drive more than 12k mi/year. You need to drive your car like Granny. Only a few times a week, to the store or hair salon and only to church on Sunday. Don't go over 8k mi/year. But even then, I'm still changing the oil at 3k miles.

    Hello. Thanks for the video. Well done. You mentioned you were considering the MaxJax two post lift. Why didn’t you go that route? I am considering it but would need to upgrade my garage floor in order to ensure I have the proper concrete specifications.

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds Před 4 dny

      At the time of purchase my floor would have needed to be upgraded and I was dealing with less than 8' of overhead clearance. The additional cost of the concrete work and lack of lift height space made the scissor lift much more compelling.

    • @Justin131993
      @Justin131993 Před 5 dny

      To be more transparent, the one side will lower a specific and consistent amount but then remain that distance ahead of the other the remainder of the descent. Could you elaborate what the potential restriction could be?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds Před 5 dny

      @@Justin131993 First let's make sure the carriages are even going up. That should eliminate the balance cables as the problem. Then I'd double-check check the carriage sliders aren't binding on the pressure release. After that, a hydraulic restriction would be the last path. A tight bend, kink, or line failure could cause one side to "pause" overcoming the restriction and then lowering it. Is this an old lift, has the fluid in the system been changed? Also, I'm just a dude in his garage too, not a lift tech. But happy to try and help.

    I'm about to swap out the tension strut bushing that you show here and put in the Powerflex split bushings into my 2014 X5. From what I could see, there is plenty of clearance once the arm drops once you remove the bushing mount that you could leave the ball joint side connected, remove the old rubber guts, cut the old metal sleeve and remove the sleeve to install the new bushings all with it connected to the steering knuckle side. Is there any reason that you see why that couldn't be done like that (without disconnecting the ball joint side)?

    • @DrivingForwardBuilds
      @DrivingForwardBuilds Před 6 dny

      You could absolutely do it this way. The outer metal shell is going to be the tough part. Take your time and score it vs cutting all the way through. Then use a chisel to hammer it out. I’ve done exactly what you’re describing on subframe bushings and a few control arm bushings. Good luck with your repair!

    Great weld man, just try not to weld with a magnetic behind where you weld, it'll mess with your dipping and mess with your weld puddle, try tacking the left and right corner of the t joint and then take away the magnetic

      I really like brake clean for the really messy stuff. But that is prohibitively expensive. Typically is use "Oil Eater" degreaser and then in my pressure sprayer just clean water.

      @@DrivingForwardBuilds Many thx - expense of brake clean was the reason i asked! i thought you may have been using some mixed solution with the pressure washer pickup nossel! Will be trying out the injector cleaner device! Cheers

      @@rulebrakingthe cheapest I’ve found brake clean lately is Walmart. Right around $3 a can. Still a lot though. The injector cleaner works great. I’ve used it a few times now.

    Just did the SPE setup with both CAT separator and filter. Moves the filter under the truck and gets rid of the under hood unit. Both are enormous filters, easily handle 10-15k miles.
