Diagnosing a BMW Crank/No Start | Project Cheapskate E70 X5

This is the first episode of the new shop project. I'm calling this one "Project Cheapskate" because I hope to put more sweat equity into this than money. We need to first figure out why it won't start and then prep it to be road-worthy, at least in my opinion.

Hey so I have the same diesel it’s starts but won’t run I try starting it with starter fluid it runs and then cuts off would that be the fuel pump as well?

I’d change the fuel filter. Fuel pump may have died early due to pressure from it being dirty.
