      Hi Tiffany, you just go on the website museitialiani.it and create a login. Then book yourself a free ticket. Then you go in the middle line which is for people with tickets. They might ask to see some ID to show you are a Rome resident. I once showed my Carta D'Identità and the person said, well this doesn't show you are a resident of ROME but then she saw my MiC card in my wallet and said, oh ok you have a MiC card.... 😂

    The Roman Senate was convening in the Theatre of Pompey in 44 BCE because the senate house (Curia) was undergoing renovations after a fire. Caesar was going to depart for his campaign against the Parthians next day, so it was the last opportunity for the conspirators. According to lore he collapsed at the feet of the statue of Pompey, his great friend and enemy.

    Just. booked this tour but it's unfortunate that there is no Full Experience ticket which combines Underground, Arena and Attic all together. If want to visit the Attic I will have to pay the same amount and book a separate ticket again.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před dnem

      Yes, this topic has come up quite often. I have spoken with the Parco Colosseo about this and they confirm it is impossible to offer a combo ticket. The tickets to the Attico and the underground are already very limited, and it would be a huge logistical nightmare trying to coordinate timed visits to those two sites alone on the same ticket. However, there is one thing you can do - if you visit the Attico, you can then go to the ticket offices inside the Colosseum and ask if they have any slots available for the arena. They usually do, and they'll allow you to visit that at no additional charge.

    Im visiting Rome in August this year. One thing that is sadly lacking in all of these clips, (not just yours), is any reference to accessibility for mobility impaired people. I use a walker and im afraid of getting into a site and then not being able to access it properly. I realize that it is a very small market, but even people with children in strollers must experience the same problems. Im not expecting a full video on this subject, but simple an ad on at the end saying its either suitable or not for anyone with mobility issues. 🙂

      Thanks for watching my videos. You are right, I don't yet have one for Castel Sant'Angelo, but it's on my list. I love that monument and think it's under-visited. My answer is that yes it can be worth purchasing your tickets in advance. Sometimes there are no lines at all but at other times there can be really long lines. For me it's worth having peace of mind not to worry or wonder about the possibility of a long wait. However, if you don't buy in advance, and just show up and find a line, you can use your phone and purchase an online ticket and then you can skip the long line. Here are my two web pages about Castel Sant'Angelo: www.romewise.com/castel-sant-angelo-rome.html romewise.com/castel-sant-angelo-worth-visiting.html

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 2 dny

      Thank you! Believe it or not, on Sunday mornings, for some reason, the security lines are not as bad. I am not sure why. Maybe it's because they set up more of them. I would suggest getting there at 10:30 to make sure you have enough time to find the entrance to the security along the Colonnade, go through security, and then if you have enough time, you can head inside the basilica and visit it before the Pope gives the Angelus at 12. You can also go inside the Basilica after the Angelus. I hope you have a wonderful time at the Angelus at the Vatican!

    Isn't the Chigi Chapel with Raphaels in the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo in Rome? Not the Pace?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 3 dny

      You have a good eye for Renaissance art! The wealthy Sienese banker Agostino Chigi commissioned more than one chapel in Rome, and he commissioned his favorite artist, Raphael Sanzio, to work on several projects. The include, but are not limited to * Villa Farnesina* (if you have not seen it, I can't recomment this highly enough!) * Santa Maria della Pace* - The Chigi chapel is named for him. It's the one mentioned in this video, and where Raphael painted stunning frescoes above it. * Santa Maria del Popolo* - The Chigi chapel is named for him and designed by Raphael. It's the only religious building designed by Raphael still almost completely in its original form.

    The absolute best guard against being overcharged is Elyssa’s tip on using the taximeter estimator BEFORE you APP for the cab. These are actually very accurate for Rome. Just type in your location and destination and any other prompts and you will know the cost of your trip. Stick to that value if you’re overcharged and pay only that amount. It helps to have small bills and change on you when using Rome cabs. I’ve lived in Rome for 7 years and I just recently had to rely on the taximeter to get myself out of an overcharge. I did it and you can do it too. It works like a charm. Knowledge is your friend.

      Thank you so much! Please note I have a newer video about visiting the SUPER sites. The link is in the description. Yes, you can buy it on site at any of the three ticket booths - one in front of the Colosseum, one on the via dei Fori Imperiali, and a new ticketing entrance on the via del Foro Romano (near via San Teodoro.) Please note the entrance on via di San Gregorio no longer sells tickets.

From there your guide will take you into the gardens and only after the gardens can you then visit the museums.

    Unfortunately my tour guide just canceled my morning reservation for May 19. I went ahead and purchased the 24 hour tickets myself. I’m seeing very long lines - can you clarify the lines? Are there lines for ticket purchasing and another line for entrance? The lines are very worrying and now that my “skip the line” tour is cancelled, I don’t know if I have time to just wait in line

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      The ticket you just purchased allows you to skip the line to buy tickets on site. That's what the long lines are. There are also lines of people with entry tickets to go inside, but those lines move fast. You also have to go through security, but again, that goes quickly. if you already have a ticket, you do "skip the line" - the line to purchase tickets. The ticket you had that was cancelled 8sorry to hear that!) allowed you to skip the purchasing line, it would not have allowed you to skip the entry or security lines. I suggest getting to the Colosseum about 20 minutes in advance but don't worry, you will not have long to wait in those entry lines. Enjoy your visit!

      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      Thank you! On the Free Sunday, the lines for the Colosseum/Roman Forum/ Palatine Hill are long throughout the day, from opening until closing, especially at the Colosseum. You will not find long lines if you visit sites like Ostia Antica or the Caracalla Baths.

    Hello, how do we book this tour? Thanks

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      I mention in the description that the specific tour I took in this video is no longer available, but I also linked to similar tours you can book. I took this about 5 years ago, and while the same tour isn't running, there are tours where you can see some of the rooms we visited.

    How many steps are there anyway? How steep are they? They don't look anything like standard steps. That's what I need to know in order to assess whether I could manage this climb.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      Hmmm, I didn't count the steps, but there are not so many. It's not like climbing St. Peter's dome or Florence's duomo. You first climb the big steps I showed in the beginning (although they also have an elevator option for those first set of stairs). Then you are already on a rooftop when you climb the corkscrew staircase. It's like climbing up one floor. It's really not tiring, but it's just a small space. FYI there is no elevator option for this part of the climb.

      @@Romewise Thanks. I try to do a little training for this sort of trip; I'm not as young as some of you. I'd love to know how many kilometers Pompeii is lengthwise but all they say is how many square acres it is or something like that. I'd love to see Villa Jovis on Capri but I think the climbing would not be manageable.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      @@beeeb8831 I hear you - many sites in Italy can be challenging to visit because of their size, accessibility, steepness, etc. Yes, the Villa Jovis on Capri is amazing but also requires quite a trek. The staircase to reach the roof of Santa Maria Maggiore is really not that high. It's a small space, but the climb doesn't last very long. I think it's more of an issue for someone being claustrophobic rather than getting out of breath.

    I think we will add this to our visit next week if we can get tickets! What time of year was this filmed? Do I need to pack warmer clothing for end of May?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      Yes, I doubt you will have problems getting tickets, but as I said, I'd book ahead just in case. I filmed this at the end of April, very recently, but if you are coming end of May, it will be warmer and you may not even need a cardigan or jacket as I have on. Enjoy!

    • @LiLaLeller
      @LiLaLeller Před 3 dny

      @@RomewiseThank you! I am packing for warmer weather, but I'm from Texas so my idea of warm might be a little skewed. I think I will pack a few extra pieces for warmth just in case! Also, if you don't mind me asking, when you say a tight space, would the staircase be a problem for taller people or is it just the cramped space?

    Love your videos. Can’t stop watching them. As a man, can I wear shorts ? I see men wearing shorts inside the basilica. I’ll visit in August.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise Před 4 dny

      Thanks for your kind comments! When you see men inside the basilica wearing shorts, those shorts come to their knees. Even then, it's always a risk because you never know if an overly conservative guard will stop you from entering if your knees are not covered. If you want to err on the side of caution, I suggest lightweight linen pants or hiking trousers that have a removable bottom leg.

    Estuvimos en la semana de Pascua 2024. Entramos a las 8 de la mañana (en la fila desde las 8 menos 20) y seguimos tu itinerario. A las 08h15 estábamos solos en las Estancias de Rafael. Las fotos son espectaculares. a las 08h45 en la Capilla Sixtina dónde pudimos disfrutar sentados de las pinturas. Hasta las 09.30 no empiezan a llegar grupos y nos estás más de 20 o 30 personas. Increíble! Luego a desayunar y resto de museos. El tiempo vuela, salimos a las 14h30. Nos fuimos a comer a Tonnarello San Pietro. Buenísimo. Por la tarde al castillo Sant Angelo. San Pedro hay que dejarlo para otra mañana si se puede.
