I really wish I’d been familiar with your channel before my visit to Rome last October. I loved Rome nonetheless, but these videos would have been so helpful. At least I’ve found you now for my next visit. 😊

Another interesting video. I also like seeing Roman coins, you can learn so much from them. As a keen metal detectorist here in the uk I find some very nice Roman coins. I’m really looking forward to visiting the colosseum this year. I’m also looking to get my hands on tickets for the Domus aurea once they become available, it looks amazing.

About 20 years ago, the magazine Biblical Archeology Review (BAR) had an article which said that the construction cost for the Colosseum was paid by the gold "harvested" from the Jerusalem temple which was destroyed by Titus.
Jesus had said that "not one stone will be left upon another." Those stones were giant, so the prophecy seemed impossible. Yest, when the temple was burned and the gold melted, Titus had the stones moved so they could collect all the gold.
There are inscriptions at the Colosseum which mention aspects of this.

Question: Does the Italian govt pay you for all this tourism promotion? Another great historical piece, thanks!

    • @Romewise

Thank you for such a nice compliment! No, the way this works is I invest my time, energy and also money into making videos, and I make a little bit of money from the ads you see before and during the video. I also make money from affiliate links so if I suggest a tour and you book through my links, I will make a small commission at no additional cost to you.
I'm glad you enjoy my videos!

Hi Elyssa. I am trying to book an entrance ticket for me and my wife to the colosseum thru coop culture site. But it seems that there is something wrong with that website. Is there another way that you can suggest, where I am able to book an entry ticket online? Another website perhaps? Thanks

    • @Romewise

Thanks for watching my video. You don't say what problems you are experiencing with CoopCulture. That is the official site to buy tickets. You may find this video helpful:

Sorry about that. I can go to the actual coop culture website. But when I check the availability, it comes with a 403 error and it says I have been blocked. I don't know if they are updating the website. I have been trying for a week now and it is still the same. Thanks

I just noticed something. You always raise your eyes when you talk to the camera. I didn't notice it on TV but I did notice it on my computer screen.

I guess it's my way of gathering my thoughts while I speak, since I don't read from a script.

@@Romewise That's quite impressive. You must have numerous takes when making your videos 🎬

@@lilpenny1982 I have an outline I refer to, but don't want to sound like I'm reading from a script. Yes, most of my videos take days of research, writing, re-writing, filming, editing, re-filming, etc. I care a lot that I share good information and hopefully that the videos resonate with my viewers.

@Romewise You're videos are very impressive and highly informative. Just a few feedback. I wish your videos could be a little bit longer. And you should ask your husband to be your cameraman so that you can walk and speak at the same time (whilst the camera is showing you). Sometimes I feel like you've giving us a lecture when you talk whilst being stagnant (whilst the camera is showing you).

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  Před 4 dny +1

@@lilpenny1982 Thanks a lot for your feedback. I appreciate it! I'm always looking for ways to improve. I'm glad you like my videos and would like them to be longer. Sometimes my videos do run long, depending on the subject matter.
As for having Alessandro film with me, unfortunately, he is not always available so most of the time, I do it the way many vloggers do, using a handheld gimbal.
I certainly don't want to seem like I'm lecturing, which is why I try to use a lot of b-roll (not me on the camera.) But I will take your suggestions to heart and see how I can improve. Thank you again for taking the time to provide me with constructive critiques!
