Trail Review: Cascade Components Megatower LT Link
When adjusting both limit screws, do you screw in both barrel adjusters on the shifter and rear derailleur? If you have 3 front chainrings (24 speed) which front gear, do you shift it in when adjusting the limit screws?
I have Dura Ace 11 speed on carbon Cervelo. I just changed the chain and the cogwheel. My chain only has 104 links(same as the old one, which was working until recently, started to skip) - the chain was totally worn out stretched more then 1.3 links over the length of the chain. Anyway the hi gear adjust just fine, but when I get to low gear(the biggest cog) it feels there is no more space/step on the mechanism to go up. Thought manually pulling the cable I can bring it up to the last cog with no problem. I do not know, what is going on, but I think that the spring inside the derailleur might be "tired/fatiqued" and doesn't bring the whole mechanism all the way down to highest gear - so the starting position with cable totally released is not all the way down. If I do any readjustment on the hi gear to bring the low gear into proper position, then the hi gear doesn't engage and the chain hangs in second gear down. Can anyone suggest any another possible reason for the problem??? Thanks
Your terms are way too casual. “Back up the limiter” is incredibly vague. You should be telling people counterclockwise or clockwise etc. super annoying how most these videos make it more complicated
and thats how you scratch your bike...
Those bolt threads should get a dab of grease before installation. They can freeze up due to all the water and sweat exposure they get.
Finally a video were the lower cup is installed first and then the upper cup.Alot off clips where both cups are installed at one go which doesn`t make sense in terms of alligment.I will be giving it a shot with a cheap headset press tool of aliexpress for budget alu hardtail relplacing caged bearing headset with a better sealed bearing headset.
me watching this 11 years later😂
like crystal clear in 2 mins and the others take 25 mins and you end up confused with ten pages of notes....yaay!
Good vid!
My XX1 derailleur is nog touching the smallest limit screw in de the lowest gear (also not shifting to the lowest gear). Any advice on how to fix this?
I ride freeride saddles on all my bikes with gel covers over them. I put 2 on each saddle one over the other and make sure they are secured tightly. I don’t use padded shorts and just ride in football/soccer shorts or tracky bottoms. I’ve also started putting soft bag for life carrier bags over the seat and taping them neatly round the seat post which completely stops any kind of chafing even on long distance riding and also protects the seat
Purchase yourself a set of Trygg off road tire chains, your two wheeled rear wheel driven van will be greatly increased. 5 fold capability or better. Drive a log truck, and you will understand that tire chains are for more than winter driving. Good for Mud, inclined loose dirt tracks, wet hard packed clay soil roads as well. Let's go off road. 🫡
Thanks alot, fixed my derailer in minutes. Exceptional.
I was stuck on a very rocky technical spot yesterday. I just had a new chain and cassette installed by a shop but it was skipping and having trouble staying in gear. I found I was able to hold the button under shifter, then press up or down 1x or 2x on shifter until I got it working smoothly. I don't know what I'm doing, so this video helps me now that I'm in my garage and able to work on it.
Will it continue working in the rain? Any longtime users here? Thanks.
Bike came broken from the store, they said it couldn't be fixed. Fixed in minutes, thank you!

Well done video!
Have you noticed that brand new calipers need the pistons worked? my levers are still squishy and no bubbles are coming out. Thanks
Very good video instructions. I think I was able to tweek my bike just enough to get it to work but I think the bike shop needs to tighten it up a bit more.
Best video I´ve seen on the topic. Congratulations! Short, concise, and clearly and well explained. All you need to know and take into account in less than 3 minutes.
why not grease?
Thank you!!
Very good review, I loved it. I am about to buy this EPIC WORLD CUP EXPERT version bike, I have a new FOX 34 STEPCAST KASHIMA fork, with 3-position remote control. What do you think about replacing the original rockshox brain with my FOX 34? Would it be a good option? Would I lose benefits? The idea is to make a positive change, otherwise I prefer to leave it original from the factory. I still think about replacing the fork because I live 3000 km from any of the official Rockshox services and doing maintenance would perhaps be a headache. Thank you so much
How would you adjust the clutch on rival rear derailleur
This worked great on my Giant road bike carbon frame. Thanks!
11 years later and the gears are still the same and this video is relevant
LOL today my bike wouldn't shift down to the smallest 2 cogs .. big blast with wd40 and quickly work again. This happened before on another shifter. I'll wait until tommorow and put a better long term oil in but yes "sticking" can be fixed by this sort of thing.
Thank you!
RS is a great bike. Ive had 2.
thankyou. my orbea aluminum frame bike has a carbon fork. and it comes with star nut stem plug and not compression plug like this. should I change it? is orbrea perhaps being cheap when they put the star nut? does it make a difference? thank you mate
The cable anchor bolts on these older Shimano front derailleurs are pretty ambiguous. I'm going to have to adjust my cable routing so I can get the 'correct' position without the cable contacting the derailleur cage.
Best explanation on how to adjust the front derailleur and limit screws. Thanks!!!
do naked. its accurate. I measure woman that way in my shop and they usually dont mind. Im confused. Yea great things happen.
One of the best vid I have seen, granted, I’ve collected many others spoken jargon so I was able to connect the dots. Overall, thank you for the tips. Especially accessing the micro adjustments button execution.
Great video, came in very handy today...thanks!
Excellent... thank you. 👍

What is the other button next to the power button for?
The best of the best
😤😮💨😅🙏🏾
Much appreciated. This video helped me figure out rear derailleurs for the first time, mostly because it was the first time in decades of riding I needed to adjust mine. In the past I've always bought bikes in bike shops, but this time I had one delivered and assembled myself, and my 21 speed was only doing 15 speed. Now it's doing 21 speed and shifting smooth as butter.
This video is so clear and concise it helped me understand the shifting system as I never have before. Thank you!
Amazing. Thanks so much 👍🏻
Ten years later, this video remains the only way I can set up my FD. Thanks.
Awesome just saved my indoor session.
Ah, Art cyclery have CZcams?! Dude please renew "science behind the magic : drivetrain compability" with new 12-speed drivetrain
Wow - I almost bought a new derailer because every other derailer adjustment video was garbage. You explained it perfectly in literally a fraction of the time. Thank you!
