Strap in! We've got packaging that’s Made in the USA | Building a Watch Company
When we said we were all about Made in America, we weren't messing around. In this video R.T. Custer reveals the box we found that all of the Colorado Watch Company watches will ship in. It's tough, highly water resistant, smaller than the other boxes we use for Vortic Watches, and best of all 100% American Made!
R.T. also showcases how your watch will be packaged, and what to do to attach the straps when you receive it. You'll see how easy it is to attach the Khaki strap, and swap it quickly for the OD Green or Black strap using the quick release band bars that are in each pair of Cordura watch straps.

Love the way that looks, and to me, that case is an extra bonus. Having a place to keep extra straps or repurpose the case for something else is great, thanks for the update!
LOVE that box! Made in the USA, custom foam with logo and the strap storage binder - way to go, guys! I love what you're doing and appreciate the updates. This GCT package is just going to be super cool.
Heck ya! Thanks so much for the support and keeping up with the updates. We're happy to share. We think it's pretty cool too. 😉
I like the new case, however, I would prefer to store the watch with the strap on like the Vortic watch case.
Thanks for sharing your feedback! We are often making little tweaks as we work out these different facets of the business. Consider your thoughts noted!
Please tell us we didn’t lose the machined dial on the GCT
We're working on it! Thanks for being excited about it, we will answer this question within our next update!
Really looking forward to my field watch! Also enjoying the precision of all of the various components.
Can't wait to send them out! Thanks so much!
Thank you for this update. I'm eagerly waiting for delivery of my field watch!
You and me both!
Really waiting for a May update on when the deliveries will begin! Thanks
New video tomorrow at 12!
I have been looking for USA watches developed, designed, produced, and sold domestically. I have found a few companies ie Weiss and RGM but I am looking forward to purchasing one of your Colorado watches. I missed the kickstarter but I hope to see sales in 2024/2025.
Thanks for sharing! So glad you found us and we're happy to have you here. Keep following along!
No human were paid in the manufacture of these parts. More reason to become an automation tech.
The transparency of your process is so great. Thank you for sharing your journey. All of the effort and trouble you are going through will make it worth it in the end. I can’t wait to get my GCT and these videos give me confidence you guys are committed to getting it right. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! We will continue to share and do everything we can to provide the best piece we are capable of. Thank you again!
Getting excited to see my GCT; great update, looks like you guys are really putting your hearts into this. Love it.
The excitement is mutual! Thank you very much for following along and supporting us.
As someone who joined in on the Kickstarter campaign, I would rather hear the watches are the quality you're shooting for and behind schedule than being rushed and not to the level of product you want to provide. Still very excited about having my field watch arrive! (I live in Colorado Springs so if you want to send mine first I would be totally cool with that. Lol, jk of course!) Another solid update video, thanks!
Thank you for the kind words and support! We agree and we’ll keep our heads down focused on making the best watch possible for you regardless of the headwinds!
Looking forward to seeing your watches.😊
Thanks for the support! 😊

What’s next to manufacture? Spring bars? Just kidding 😊
Good to have you guys back on CZcams! 😎 Can’t wait to get my new Colorado Watch Co. watch. 🥰🤪⏱️
Happy to be here! Can't wait to get it to you 🙌
Looking forward to receiving my Colorado watches. Straps look awesome.
We're excited to get it in your hands! Thanks!
Love the decorated rotor! Very glad I Kickstarted ya for one each; I may be tempted to wear one on each wrist. Perhaps one with the caseback up. Well, probably not but the decorated rotor is gorgeous. Great idea being realized. Thanks gentlemen!
You will undoubtedly need to send us a photo if you sport them one on each wrist! 😂 So glad you love it, thank you for the support!
Tyler looks and sounds like @GeneralSam
😂 we see some similarities.
Where can I buy that CWC hat?
We just received the hats and we’re shipping them to Kickstarter backers first, then we’ll get them up on the site for sale! It may be a little bit, but we have plenty now and they’re awesome! Please email us if you want to buy a hat and we’ll send you a link to purchase when it’s ready.
You guys are making Penn State very proud. Can’t wait to receive my watch.
Thank you for the kind words! We can't wait to get it to you.
Great job guys! Thanks a lot! Wish you luck and success🙏
Thank you! 😃
Just came across you guys. I'm down in Colorado Springs. Following along!
Great! Come by some time, we'd love to show you around.
Super excited about the rotor. That looks so great. I chose option number 5 because I thought it was a smooth white dial. I wanted it to look almost like an old enamel dial. Now getting to see the ridges it will have, I think I may want to switch. Is there any way to get final-final versions of these dial options, provide high-rez photos of each, and then ask us one last time to confirm our choice? (Customers are such a pain... sorry.)
We totally get it and we'd love to do anything we can! Please email us at info@coloradowatchcompany.com and we’ll start a conversation and get you what you need!
They all look great. I'll see you guys in Washington DC.
See you there!
I'm excited to get my field watch! Really looking forward to a shipping notice! Slightly bummed it doesn't have a screw down crown but so be it, still love the look of the variation I chose. Looking forward to more content and new watch projects in the future!
Thanks so much for the support, Todd! We are excited to share as well as for what is to come in the future.
The extra strap brought a grin; the decorated rotor brings three cheers! Bravo! And Tyler is correct, the decorated rotor makes the watch a complete project. It is greatly appreciated. Great decision. Can't wait to receive it. Thank you.
Hurrah! Thank you for sharing, so grateful for the support. Looking forward to sending!
As a former technical engineer, watch collector and a Kickstarter support to CWC, I appreciate the open, honest and technical update. I love the technical details you both cover. Nicely done. Look forward to the upcoming updates.
Thanks for saying that, it is important to us to be transparent in the process. Stay tuned!
Nice job on the rotor! Also, when can I buy a hat?
I wanna hat, too! I think they mentioned they're getting better hats so maybe soon?
We just received the hats and we’re shipping them to Kickstarter backers first, then we’ll get them up on the site for sale! It may be a little bit, but we have plenty now and they’re awesome! Please email us if you want to buy a hat and we’ll send you a link to purchase when it’s ready.
I can’t wait for the new GCT! I should have ordered a field watch too. The stripes with Red log really pop now. I’ll find the perfect pocket watch for conversion.
You'll get a chance soon, but thanks SO MUCH for ordering the GCT! Can't wait to see what you find, Robert.
I would like to purchase a map.
Send R.T. an email at rt@vorticwatches.com!
I really enjoyed this episode. I’m a Hamilton historian myself, and have owned a couple Model 21s, have a Model. 22 boxed gimbaled and unmounted, 992B (1941 and 1950). I have also visited the factory in Lancaster, PA that is now a condominium. I highly recommend visiting the NAWCC museum in Columbia. The original Hamilton archives are stored there for researchers. For example, I located the Model 21 timing cards for that were used at the Naval Observatory for initial quality control. My boxed and gimbaled Mod . 22 is one of my most prized possessions because of the engineering, science and technology that went into its production. A true masterpiece.
Thank you so much for sharing, it's great to hear from others with a similar passion! What cool pieces you have found. Absolute masterpieces indeed. Thanks again!
This is an excellent overview and a great presentation!! Thank you!
Thank you so much for the praise! We appreciate you taking the time.
Great video. Thank you!👏
Thanks for the watch! 😉
This company is awesome. I had my great grandfathers pocket watch converted a couple of years ago. My dad said he never saw his grandfather’s watch work. I’m going to give it to my grand boy. I have another pocket watch I am going to send it when I have extra money to pass down to my second grand boy. Awesome company and the watches are the best. I love wearing my great grandfather’s watch. A lot of amazing history. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for your kind words! What a special heirloom for your family to continue to enjoy, it's what we truly love to see. We appreciate your support and look forward to continue to serve you and your family in the future!
Love them all. RT and Tyler are great guys. I have one Vortic watch made from them and I love what they are doing. Great guys.
Thanks for saying that, we really do appreciate it. Keep rocking that Vortic!
I would have enjoyed matte black hands on that white dial
I live in Colorado, and love watches. I was hoping that there would be a model that I liked. You didn’t quite hit one I like this time, but I intend to keep an eye on your brand.
Thanks for sticking around and if you'd ever like to come by for a tour we'd love to show you what we do!
Great update, really glad to see a standard rubber strap for the GCT instead of the fitted - it would have hidden that great case finishing and I think the case will look more contiguous. Great attention to detail, guys!
We appreciate that! Thanks for following along, we really appreciate the kind words! 🙌
Really cool dial options for the Field! Can’t wait to see them in person!
Thanks, we think so as well. It's going to be great!
Congratulations on you kickstarter success! Had my tour last week and was really impressed with your setup!
Thank you, Robert! What a pleasure to have you in shop, thanks for coming to see where it all happens!
What era do you consider to be the best for American pocket watches? Awesome educational video. Thanks for posting it!
1910 to 1940 was the hey-day of American watchmaking at scale. "Best" is hard to define as there were some spectacular pocket watches made in the 1800s with many complications, but most were one-off watches made for collectors and cannot be enjoyed by many people today. Since those companies made so many watches in the early 1900s, there are a ton of great pocket watches to choose from and they can be found at decent prices today. Check out the Hamilton 992B if you want a classic and excellent railroad pocket watch that won't break the budget!
@@CusterWolfe Thanks for the reply! My Lancaster is from 1949. So when did US production start to finally fall off and forever give way to wristwatches?
It started after WWI but escalated quickly after WWII. Most of these watch companies went out of business in the 40s and 50s. Hamilton lasted the longest and went under in 1969.@@Johnfsu
@@vorticwatchcompany One last question because I don't want to keep you from prepping for the awesome M.E. release, but so far it looks like only some of the more recent (1940s) Lancaster movements have been size 10s (43mm). Did the other manufacturers not make many 10s? Or was this a size that came mostly later, hence Hamilton was still around to make them and the other companies already dissolved by the time 10s came into fashion?
@@Johnfsu excellent question! Other brands made 10size movements, but to your point, there weren't as many other brands around in the 1940s, so the most prevalent ones we've seen that we can use for pocket watch conversions were made by Hamilton and Elgin. So far we've only made Hamiltons, but don't worry, we're always working on fun new things!
Greetings from the UK. Thank you for this most interesting presentation. The United States was indeed the original Switzerland of watches. It seems crazy today, but in Victorian Britain, they were most worried about these pesky American imports lol. Like the Dollar Watch. They democratised watch ownership by becoming the masters of standardised production.
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to watch. That makes sense! Thanks for sharing.
Just pledge.
What happens is you do not get to the 250k goal?
Technically, if we do not hit the goal, Kickstarter will refund all the money and the project will be cancelled. We do not see a path to that happening however as we’ve already almost reached the goal in just a couple of days and have a full 30 days on the campaign!
I got to see the mock up watches this past weekend in Boulder. They looked great. I will be logging on at 12 mountain time.
So glad you thought so, Clay! We appreciate the support.
I added a reminder for myself for the Kickstarter and am really interested; just found out about this company that operates "in my backyard"! I understand you may not have details yet, and I am not asking for any legally binding terms, but is there a plan to offer support/maintenance for the watches going forward? I'm all about products that last years of not decades :)
Thanks so much for supporting us! You are always welcome by for a tour, we'd love to show you around. We absolutely stand behind all of our products and will have recommended service timeframes to keep your watch in great working order.
Watches look great! What will the water resistance ratings be, lug width and are they sapphire crystal?
We’ll be live on Kickstarter Tuesday the 26th (tomorrow) at 12pm MDT. The campaign will answer these and all other questions as it’s very comprehensive! Best way to get there once we’re live is coloradowatches.com. Thanks for following along!
What watch is Tyler wearing here?
This is a 45mm American Artisan Series watch. Since all are one of a kind, that one is his, but you can find similar pieces here: vorticwatches.com/watches
@@CusterWolfe thanks for the quick reply. I fell in love with your company, the story, and I am now the proud new owner of the Lancaster 017! Here's to taking down Goliath.
@@Johnfsu Our pleasure, thank you so much for following along and for the support! Congrats on your Lancaster!
Really looking forward to seeing this.
Thanks for following along!
