I understand 2 points you made here...one about your mom and having cancer...my mom was diagnosed in 2000 with lung cancer, she passed away in 2002..the second point was about the painkillers...a year and a half ago, my leg was amputated...but I've been on oxy's for 4 years now because I also have neuropathy...as time went on and I kept getting more and more surgeries, my doses kept going higher and higher...my doctor recently started lowering my doses...the problem is I take a long acting for my main pain and a short acting for breakthrough pain...the long acting pills I take don't do shit but take the edge off...the short acting I can feel working throughout my body...but ever since I've been taking 40mg of my long acting, I've been relying on the short acting to take the pain away...I always took my pills as directed until recently...for the past 2 months, I've been taking double and even triple my doses...so much so to the point where I've run out about 2 weeks early...I'm scared of becoming addicted to the point where I'll end up OD'ing, or just becoming addicted period smh

Now, I'm so naive, to think that he didn't played a big role in the fact that he's was broke and didn't save any money, but this is the story of far too many of them. They are left with nothing and a bad drug addiction and ultimately they die way too young.
