While wrestling, you might accidentally hit a wrestler a little too hard. If that happens, you'll probably get hit back with what we call a receipt. I earned myself my fair share of receipts during my WWE career, and in this video, I rank them from least painful to most.

One of the things I respect the most about Maven, is how often he admits something going wrong was his wrong doing and not the other competitor. Itâs much easier to point fingers rather than show accountability. So for that he earns a lot of my respect.
I agree with that! I think it's very admirable!
Jesus Christ Is The Only Way To Heaven Repent & Believe & Accept The Gift Of Salvation âïžâ€ïžđâ€â€
âHelp me pay my duesâ means take liberties with the newer guy because it was done to them. Paying your dues by risking brain damage is ridiculous. Maven is the nicest guy in the wrestling community.
Exactly
You can stop at 'take liberties with the newer guy', that was my (thankfully short) experience with the phrase.
You have to remember this was before the days of CTE or to at least having the knowledge they do now. Only the strong survive and paying dues is weeding out the weak from the strong. At the end of the day you being on that card is taking away a payday from another perhaps more deserving worker and testing them is a way of finding out whether or not they deserve that spot and if they can hang in the big leagues.
â@@Nclchitchatyou should be able to recognize that shit was a product of it's time, and is also stupid as fuck. It's weird for bro to talk so glamorously of people destroying his brain long term.

I like Maven really. I was too young to remember his wwe career, or maybe his booking wasn't that big, but anyway I really like seeing this side of him. It's nice to hear these stories and learn about the business. I've been watching him a lot recently. Really entertaining.
I also heard he hated talking about wwe after he left, glad to see he embraced. Also seems quite humble.
I'd give anything for a whole video of Maven doing impressions of industry people. He kills it everytime!
I have to agree with what you said about Pro Wrestling not being for you if you can't handle the physicality. Went to a school when I was 19, made it about a month before I woke up one morning and was so sore I couldn't get myself out of bed. The undertaker knocking your brain around your skull with a chair was done with malice. He should've been charged for a crime.
Yeah, Charged for a crime for a Scripted Chairshot đ
Yeah, that's exactly the way I feel about it. This is just physical assault.
Wrestling is about NOT hurting someone and making it look real. Not actually hurting someone. Anyone can do that.
Accidentally hurting someone (and getting back a receipt for it, so that you are more focused) can be understood.

- chairshots had no long term effects
*remember Chris BenoĂźt*
- That Chairshots had no long term effects
I would argue that it wasn't the chair shots. I'd say it was probably his flying headbutt spot that caused most of his concussive issues.
If it was Benoit's head trauma that caused the tragedy, then how is Masato Tanaka, who took 100x more bumps on his head and harder chair shots than pretty much anyone in the business, still walking around and wrestling fully functional to this day? That element of the case (along with many other inconsistencies) has never made sense to me nor to medical experts that have analyzed it
â@@justinday9378it's fair to say it was accumulative. Plenty of benign looking bumps can cause concussions as well. So while I'm sure the headbutts did damage, and the chair shots too, it's really just the business. It's one part trauma one part genetics and Chris was an incredibly sad and evil highlight of this fact. And I Loved Chris's work.
@@yellowkangdexasthur4904 Concussions are a serious issue because the brain has no sensory nerves, so it's not easy to determine how the brain was bruised when they happen. Even when the side effects of brain damage start appearing, the vast majority of people will attribute those to something else unless they're head related. The fact Tanaka still is functioning doesn't mean he doesn't have some damage to his brain caused by all those bumps.
