On March 13, 2009, the world lost not only a talented wrestler but also a great human being. My relationship with Andrew "Test" Martin started contentious when he was kicked off WrestleMania, and I replaced him. However, as time went on, we got to know each other better and better, and Andrew became one of my good friends. In this video, I share the story of my relationship with the man called Test and how I found out about his passing.

15 years ago today, we lost one of the most underappreciated big men in wrestling history, Andrew "Test" Martin. Feel free to share your memories of Test in the comments.
Is it great that you're honoring your friend it's a shame that he has passed away he was the ideal World Championship material.
Rest in peace Test
I really wish WWE and other feds cared for their talent's health better so Cauliflower House didn't need to.
I remember a vivid childhood memory of watching Test was in 2002 when he was feuding with Earl Hebner after earning immunity from being fired. Earl screws him out of an IC title match with RVD and I was just laughing at the fact that a referee can be so involved with a match. Test was so good at being intimidating, definitely one of those larger than life characters from the Attitude Era.
@@ayetrey246 yeah he had passed away in 2009 I think
Little did Test know that 15 years after he died, Maven would have a CZcams channel and feature Test to introduce him to a new gen of fans.
That was my goal! Thank you
He knows.
So cool. Mavenites unite! 😂😂😂
it's really true
@@MavenKHuffman
Hats off man!
All guys deserve a friend like Maven, and all moms deserve a son like Maven. Both Andrew Test Martin and your mom must be looking down on you with immense pride, wherever they may be.
Thank you for honoring the memory of your close friend. He was a huge part of my wrestling childhood. It’s a shame WWE has never given him recognition.
It's odd 'cause he's not even on their alumni section on their site. They've uploaded matches with him included like Brock Lesnar vs. Test (King of the Ring 2002) or Team Cena vs. Team Big Show (Survivor Series 2006).
Real talk ‼️
I came here to say this! ❤😢🤗
I am surprised to hear Maven speaking about WWE not doing a tribute to Test. I never knew about it until he said it. It is good of Maven sharing his memory with Test here.
@@heelgill vkm is petty he gave test the ken shamrock treatment. Supposably also hhh didn't like him
WWE:we won't do a TEST tribute.
Maven:hold by beer.
I'm very thankful maven brings a great tribute to Test, that Running Big boot is arguably the most devastating and brutal move that is a stuff of legend.
I don't understand how Maven of all people in wrestling suddenly became the best CZcamsr on the platform.
In a world where the Stone Cold, Undertaker, Jim Ross have a podcast. In a world where there are countless wrestling content creators, Maven tops them all.
Consistent, quality, engaging, and charitable! This man has become the standard!
His editors doing a bang up job.
"test test testtest test" forever stuck in my head. RIP
His theme lowkey slapped !! lol TEST … THIS IS A TEST …. TESTtEST …TEST TEST TEST -

this is a TEST this is a TEST this is a TEST
@@michibeatz1030 Jim Johnston was the mozart of wrestling
This theme Is awesome
For real. Even his instrumental themes somehow fit the individual personality of each wrestler.
Test has one of the best theme songs of any superstar to this day. Loved working out to it. R.I.P Andrew.
I was just listening to Test theme song a week ago :( R.I.P Test 🙏
You're awesome bro. R.I.P Andrew "Test" Martin.
Test test this is a test
❤
I was Bumping tests theme in the gym yesterday 💪
I've been saying for YEARS that Test should've been a bigger star than he ended up being. Dude had the look, and the greatest Big Boot in history. R.I.P. Test.
He could’ve been Kevin Nash 2.0 but Test didn’t have the same charisma unfortunately
@@alonsolopez3541better than that.
Ironically Test would have been World Champion if the wrestling world back then was how it is now
That Big Boot🙌
@@alonsolopez3541 They could have come up with a better name for him than Test.
I met Test at an Indy show, right before he started doing the Motley Cru bodyguard angle, during intermission was signing autographs, Giant Silva was also at the show, when I got to Test he signed my picture “To Ryan, Stay Cool, Test” then proceeded to talk to me for 15 minutes. I left that show the happiest kid. RIP Test, thank you for such a great video and keeping his memory alive Maven.
What an awesome memory to have! Did you take any pics with him at all?
Thats awesome! Its crazy how these celebrities/athletes have such an ability to make an experience for fans. Especially kids!
Died way too young and the fact they won’t even put him in a video game at the very least bothers me. RIP Andrew Test Martin
what did he do?
@@MrMuaythai84overdose but before that he wasn’t easy for Vince to control
This is beautiful Maven. I know how much he meant to you. Test will always be remembered as a legend.
🙏🏽🙏🏽 thank you. I hope he would be proud
Running big boot is still arguably the most powerful and deadly move that can kill anyone by test
As a kid, I thought the big boot was just a power move that big men used. Once Test started running into people's face with HIS big boot, I was like WOW that person's face is CRUSHED.
RIP TEST thank you for the childhood memories
When he had the long hair and long pants it was such a bad ass finished!
Test is one of the most under-rated talents of all time. R.I.P. big man
Test was a powerhouse, man. Definitely world-champion material. The storyline with him, Steph and HHH was awesome!
I agree… he was amazing in that storyline
I enjoyed that storyline
Too bad that storyline didn't go anywhere and just quietly died quickly was excited test to be in a big storyline, but nothing after that blew my mind like what just moving on from that! Ok! 🙄😠
Test: "Payback and Stephanie are the same. They are both bitches!"😂🤣
I was young when that happened. Would you say that storyline was Tests breakout moment?
He was tall.
He was tough.
He was underated.
He was Andrew "Test" Martin and he really a wrestler for sure. I miss him too.
He has no charisma.
@@user-sc6cn6sj2yhe had some but compared to the likes of Austin and Rock during those times, he was a mid carded. Like everyone were
@@theworldisimmense im watching old feuds on youtube. This guy looks scared, he dont belong to the ring. But now only Ortn and Roman have charisma, the rest are crybabies and goof clowns.
Wrestler, or just really enjoyed being pinned by oiled up, beefy, half naked dudes?
Test and Sean O'Haire had so much to offer.
Man... it's really been 15 years since he passed =(.
I really loved hearing about the honesty and candor that he spoke to you with. Test doesn't deserve to be forgotten!
He doesn’t get mentioned a lot by people so i appreciate you making this video , Test was that dude for real
Before I watch, I just know this will be wholesome. Test barely gets any acknowledgement and he had a fairly successful professional wrestling career. He absolutely deserves the recognition, especially for those darn big boots!
Also, I love how on Cafe de Rene (Rene Dupree's podcast), they've told funny stories of Test and would speak highly of him.
He sure does it's sad how much his death could've been avoided. Test was one of the most underrated wrestlers I've seen. RIP LEGEND
@@diegooregon4481 That's the professional wrestling industry for you, especially when he was an active wrestler. That decade had many wrestlers dying in similar and unfortunate ways. His death could have absolutely been avoided.
im happy that we have people like maven, ddp and all who have soul, heart and courage.
we need a change for the better in todays wrestling business, so much unneccesary hardships, so many tragedies and deaths could have been avoided, if not for the greed of promoters like vince!
society as a whole needs a change!
He and Brodie Lee threw the most vicious big boots ever
I got to see Test in a house show in a tiny arena in Huntsville, TX in 2006. When most the guys were holding back cause it was a tiny crowd, Test put it all out there. Even as a Heel we cheered him and he was a hell of a performer and huge in real life. May he RIP
Test has always been at the top of my list of underrated pro wrestlers. Intimidating look, fantastic entrance music, and the best big boot in the business. A great tribute for a great man.
Can’t wait until this channel has 1 million subscribers
🔥
Would love to see it!
R.I.P. Andrew " Test " Martin. Thank you for your contribution to the wrestling business and the beautiful memories you provided us with.
It’s sad, so many guys arent mentioned when they pass, thank you for remembering the ones, that passed away tragically without a main event push.
I’m very happy Maven is still with us and thriving. Wonderful human being. God bless you Maven. Andrews last interview he seemed happy and content. I hope that was the case.
One of the most underrated big men of all time. He could do things in the right that many of the more successful people his size could not.
One of the talents I appreciate more as an adult than I did as a kid and I will maintain that he had the best big boot in all of wrestling.
RIP Test. 🙏
🙏🏽🙏🏽
Test was great with Prince Albert and the beautiful Trish Stratus. They were a great trio and made the Attitude Era era much more enjoyable than it already was. I'm glad you guys came around and had a genuine friendship. I'm sure he'd be so proud of you and how far you'd come, as well as thankful for this beautiful tribute.
Big factz!!
Maven makes me instantly happier.
In 2017 I tattooed my right shoulder with the Test tattoo (I hope it’s not forbidden) but he was my favorite wrestler. I didn’t through anyone would remember him. Maven did it. Wonderful.
A fan from 🇫🇷
I met Test in WA State back in 2000, before a Smackdown taping. He was very nice to my Dad, Brother and I. Great person and am still a big fan of his work. RIP.
I always thought Test was held down because of Stephanie's relationship with hhh. It seems like once Steph got with trips his push was over right then and there. He was tremendously talented and so damn fluent in the ring. R.I.P. Test
Involves triple h and someone getting buried?! Checks out for sure. I remember thinking the same thing as I imagined hunter would project his his infidelity with steph against chyna onto Test. HHH was clearly jealous of Test's height, good looks, and normal proportioned nose.
I've heard elsewhere on CZcams that it was HHH who used his backstage influence (which before Stephanie he had cultivated through his relationship with Shawn Michaels) to insert himself into the marriage storyline via the angle where he marries an unconscious Stephanie. Just looking at Test as having been like a taller and better looking version of HHH makes me suspect that HHH probably felt threatened by his potential.
Then he took the opportunity to court a young and likely naive Stephanie in real life and the rest of history. It's interesting because before that happened I remember Shane and Steph talking on Off the Record about the policy WWF/E had about not getting involved with wrestlers and Shane saying he'd make sure nobody would mess with his little sister like that. It's obvious now that neither were ready for the "cerebral assassin", ha ha.
And so even though he'll never be one of my own favorites, I have to give HHH credit in that I think he's the biggest overachiever in wrestling history. He never had the charisma or promo skills of other greats, his in ring work was pretty standard stuff, and so primarily on his look and through backstage machinations and relationships he was a 14 time world champ (because he was certainly never a big enough draw to justify all of those reigns).
@@megavolt67 Did you watch Maven explain why HHH is good? His in ring physique and skill allowed him to carry any opponent through a match. That's why he's the "best in the business". WWE wanted him in the main events because any match that has him has foolproof intensity. If he wins the title they get 2 solid PPV's because he'll be fighting against the challenger later on. That's why he's won so many times.
You're a damn good man. Never let his memory die. Dude was an absolute monster and great performer
Speaking of talented guys that passed way too early, I always thought Sean OHare was a crazy talented guy. If your paths ever crossed I would be fascinated to hear more about him!
Yes
A beautiful tribute to a rock solid performer who was truly underrated. Test put on some awesome matches and was one of the most athletic badass big men. Thank you for this Maven. Thank you, Andrew "TEST" Martin.
“Rock solid” is such a great phrase. I told my CZcams partner just how aggressive Test was as a performer, and he went back and watched him, and completely agreed!
I have a ton of respect for you, Maven. The love you still show to the business regardless of being away for so long is evident in your videos. Also, paying tribute to Andrew Martin is wonderful. This is why you’re a successful CZcamsr
Thank you!!!
I watched during the peak of the Attitude Era and Test STILL stands out in my memories. Underrated guy.
I always liked Test and thought he was underappreciated. Really liked the Lesnar/Test match KotR 2002. I was really pissed WWE didn't give him any acknowledgement when he passed. RIP Test
Man what a great and wonderful friendship yall had. From being frenemies at mania 18 to developing a true friendship. So sad that he left this earth alone like that. This is some great storytelling. Thanks for sharing.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This is a coincidence. I've been thinking about Andrew's themes in the wwf and wwe all day and just how good the Test character was. Maven then drops this content. RIP Test. One of the best titantrons of all time and the greatest running big boot of all time.
Maven gave Test the best tribute that we've been waiting for. Thank you!
RIP Test!
I appreciate you doing this. I don’t know why I feel such a connection to Test honestly but I just feel like when wrestlers who died young are talked about his name is so often forgotten. He was a big part of the biggest boom period in wrestling and had potential to do even more. It’s nice to know you still think about your friend.
SO criminally underrated.
May he rest in peace.
#RIPTEST
Maven is such a pure soul
Takes one to know one. You must be a pure soul yourself, Joseph.
@@rebeltvr6046 me too I'm also pure
Fascinating stories we never get to hear much about friendships between wrestlers. Test was an animal, especially as a little kid watching him perform
Not even aure what to say. It has just been such a heartfelt and joyful thing to hear how highly you speak of Test as a person outside the ring. He was one of my favorites as a kid, ever since the first time I saw him lay the big boot on Smackdown. There are certain moves that a lot of guys use, but every time you see it, you think of one guy. It's their move. They may not have invented it, but it belongs to them. The DDT, it's Jake The Snake. The Flying Elbow, Macho Man. The Super Kick, HBK. The Stunner, Steve Austin. The Big Boot? That's Andrew "Test" Martin's move. He's in good company, and I hope he will continue to get more recognition for his work, legacy, and life as the years roll on. RIP Test!
Maven, what you do with this channel is amazing. You give us the chance to know more about wrestling, and also to the real life of the wrestlers. Thanks for your videos
It’s my pleasure. I’m having a blast and glad you guys enjoy it
Always had a good vibe about Test as a person. Never met the man, but his aura was good and true. R.I.P. Andrew Martin.
I knew Andrew years before he was Test. He played goalie on my house league hockey team (in Whitby). He definitely was assertive and spoke his mind much like you said. It was awful to hear about his passing years ago.
A great cause - well done, Maven. I only just learnt about the origin of Test's ring name and T logo this week.
For those who didnt know, the 'T' is actually on the Martin coat of arms.
Test was and still is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. I feel like one day WWE must put him in the Hall of Fame, he was just one of the best big men in the industry. R.I.P Test, we all love you.
You can see how hilarious Andrew Martin (Test) was on Fear Factor. Too bad his personality wasn’t shown on the WWE, cause he was funny, seemed like a fun guy to be around.
I was young back then but I do remember watching test in the wwe and always looked at him like he was a main carder and always wondered why he was let go. Thanks for sharing this story. Your a true friend. Rip to test
Test was always lowkey a favourite back in the day. Still the first guy that springs to mind whenever I see someone do a big boot because his was just absolutely killer. He was my age when he passed and wouldn’t have even been 50 now if he was still here. Way too young. Thanks for the tribute, Maven, great video as always. R.I.P. Test!
I was a huge test fan. I loved his entrance theme. I still remember when he passed away, that was the first wrestling death that hit me hard as a fan. I miss him. Thank you for honoring him Maven❤
This is a great way to honor a friend. I honestly hope folks watch this video several times just to drive the views up.
You've set the bar for retired pro wrestlers who decide to start a CZcams channel: Telling great and concise stories, and no topic is off limits.
Thank you Maven for honoring Test.
Test was an incredible performer he had that "IT" factor he had the size, body, etc etc.
As a fellow Canadian myself he was one of my favorite big man.
My # 1 favorite was Undertaker & for a Canadian i always gravitated toward Test.
He should have been given the opportunities to win many titles but like you said he wasn't about to put up with foolishness or improper booking.
I greatly respect knowing he stood up for himself & didnt let the office get over on him.
Once again thank you so much Maven for keeping his memory alive with us fans & Test is forever missed!
R.I.P Test
We all L♡VE Y♡U big man!
RIP TEST
A moving tribute, Maven. I'm sorry for your loss. Virtual hugs from England.
Wwe need to give Test his roses 🌹. I had a man crush on him back in the day and have always thought he was one of the best big men in the business. Rest in paradise brother
Thank you for helping others in need. We all need help sometimes.
One of the best wrestlers around attitude era and ruthless aggression era
Thank you for making great videos!
It’s my pleasure! This will go to a great cause. Appreciate the love from Across the pond! 🙏🏽
In another universe, Maven should have been the 'Top Guy' in Wrestling. He's got a likeable personality
Thanks for everything you do maven, keep it up
YES!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS!!!!!!! I MISS TEST SO MUCH
My pleasure! Thank you for watching
So grateful Test got the honoring, he deserved in your video. I recall watching WWE back in the day, and I could never understand why they were not using him properly. He had great ring presence and he definitely had talent. I remember being pissed when they let them go. Maven you are a class act!
This video was very touching and sincere. What a special way to honor a lost friend.
RIP Andrew "Test" Martin. He was an awesome wrestler! One of my favourites through the early 2000's.
Well done! The effort and passion are evident.
Test was always one of those underrated wrestlers that had a ton of talent but was never used in the right way. What a shame how he passed away. Too young.
Touching tribute Maven. And your gift for telling the story about who Test was as a person and your relationship with him . Keep up the great work, your content is outstanding.
Im a young one born in ‘03, and im especially new to wrestling, having only started in 2022. From what I’ve seen and heard from plenty of people, the world lost an amazing soul that day. Thank you so much for talking about this man. You’re the best 🙏
Maven, thanks for remembering Test. I think about him often and am glad I do. In my case, he didn't just warn but stood up for me. The booker, a well-known Austin, TX booker with the initials, H.J., stiffed me and Test pinned him against the wall and got me my money. I'll never forget that. And it made me feel bad for looking down on him because he was lower than me on the card. He touched me deeply. RIP Test.
I always loved Test. Such an awesome and underrated wrestler. Even as a kid he was easily one of my favorites on the roster. He even had a few runs as world champion in my Bone Crunching figure fed when I was a kid 😄 He is sorely missed!
Also, he easily had one of the best entrance themes in WWF/WWE history!
RIP Test. Impressed me as a kid. And as an adult...I understand his struggle
RIP Test. As for the rocky start to your relationship Mave, I would have calmly explained to him that once there would have been a superstar who broke into Mania and took someone else's spot. Then your day came, and you took his spot. And now I've come along and yes, I have taken your spot. One day, my spot will be taken too. There's nothing we can do about it.
Great video as always!
I love hearing this type of stories. Thank you for sharing this
Thank you for the advice. It helps us directly know what type of content to continue making. 🙏🏽
it is truly saddening to learn that prior to his untimely passing, test had mentioned in a candid interview conducted in 2007 that he had reached the age of 32 and had attended eight funerals that year. he also expressed his reluctance to join a club that he referred to, which was composed of wrestlers who unfortunately passed away at a young age. RIP test.
I'm glad the the two of you eventually became friends. That couldn't have been easy to share.
Maven, thank you for doing this video on Test; he seemed like a really good guy. Hearing you talk about him passing alone makes me think of my older brother😔
It's definitely worth checking out Test's last interview, its on youtube. Mans keeps it 100 about his time in the industry.
Keep up the good work Maven!!
Maven, thank you for sharing your close relationship with Test. May he RIP 🖤.
Great video, Maven. Awesome way to pay tribute to a great friend. Rest In Peace, Test. And thank you.
Thank you for being an absolute gem of a human being in bringing up an underrated Ruthless Aggression era legend. Mad respect as always, Maven!
Thank you for this Maven, I've really been enjoying your insights. As a Canadian girl, Test was one of my favorite talents. I'll never forget him ❤
That’s for sharing, Mav. Here’s to Andrew.
Thank you Maven for honouring Andrew “Test” Martin. I don’t understand why the WWE did not honour him. I find that very disappointing. He was one heck of a wrestler!!! RIP!!!!😢
Sir Maven, with every video I swear its like being raised by the uncle I never had but wish I did. Your a class act and please continue to be who you are. Thank you for sharing so much over the years and coming back onto youtube to share even more. Many blessing good sir, keep the fire 🔥 going
Hahaha… UNCLE MAVEN
Thank you for posting this! Test was one of my favorites from the attitude era. Pump handle was an awesome finisher. He deserved a lot more than he got. Wish he was still here with us.
My best friend passed from a tragedy in 2017 at the age of 28. We had been friends since 6th grade and we both loved wrestling growing up. One of my favorite memories that still makes me smile to this day is during Math class when we got our tests, he picks his sheet up and starts singing the Test theme song "test test this is a test". Dumb kid humor but I burst out laughing at the time and never forgot it. RIP Test thank you for all you sacrificed for our entertainment.
Amazing Video. Thank you for sharing. Rest in Paradise TEST! 🙏❤
Thank you Maven for this channel. I started listening during work few weeks ago. Keep it up!
You bet
Test was an awesome talent. His running big boot was truly a thing of beauty, nobody else has ever done a better one since and his top rope elbow drop was near picture perfect too. He should have been a main eventer going into 2000.
Totally Agree
That was beautiful. Thank You, Maven, for sharing this and keeping his memory alive. One of my forever favorites.
Maven, you're such a class act. Thank you for this kind of material.
It's tragic how many wrestlers died young
It's awesome to see the growth of your channel Maven. Test was such an underrated talent. Heck I still remember when he first appeared.
Thank-you honoring his memory Maven & I’m sorry for your loss. It’s such a shame that WWE didn’t give him a proper send-off when he passed. Test was a big part of the WWE back in the day.
Test was pretty underrated to be honest. He moved around for a big guy. He had a pretty flying elbow and I always liked all of the high impact moves that he would use like his pumphandle slam and gutwrench powerbomb.
I'm from Toronto. thanks for doing this. Test made Toronto proud.
