Wrestling Bios Presents - The Life and Career of "Test" Andrew Martin
Andrew Martin, better known as his ring name Test, made his WWE debut towards the end of 1998. Coming into the World Wrestling Federation in 1998 as a newcomer was no easy task, the Attitude Era had began picking up a ton of steam and new guys had to prove themselves both in the ring and in the locker room. Test was able to stick around in the WWF during the attitude era, leading to a career that had many ups and downs.
When Motley Crue showed up in the WWF to play some music to wrestling fans, their huge bodyguard was by their side. The bodyguard would also test the band's microphones, hence the name "Test" which Andrew would go on to become famous for. A few months after the Motley Crue performances, Test reappeared in the WWF, aligning himself with The Rock and The Corporation. From here, Test would go on to have a multi-year career with the WWE that included many title wins and some interesting storylines.
Many people will remember the Stephanie McMahon / Test wedding of 1999, the Test and Albert tag team, the "Un-Americans" stable, and Test's on-screen relationship with real life girlfriend Stacy Keibler. This video covers all these topics and more.
    Topics covered:

The Bellas haven't been round long either nor are they wrestling anymore n they are still kikn unlike Test. somethin definitely wrong wit that picture.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the wedding storylines was one of the final Vince Russo storylines in WWF before he took over creative at WCW. So Vinnie Mac either foolishly had no plans for Test after Russo's departure, or he was one of many who fell victim to the shovel of the man with 3 H's.

There's also footage on CZcams of Test, during his Heel angle, pumphandle slamming Stacy, you can see he takes all the weight on his forearms and knees while making sure to tuck her head in and protect her.

Test could have actually gone further than Diesel. Remember Kevin Nash really hadn't been in WWE for that long before he left so with time Test would have had a longer and more successful run. Test may not have been as naturally funny as Kevin Nash but he had the size, was younger, and better looking. Also he worked well when paired with others who may have had a bit more personality in storylines. He could have really been something if they'd kept him with Trish.

It has been a while , a really long time since I decided to mention a very short conversation with Drew. I had known him 28 years and his early days 21 22 years old we were in sales together and worked side by side. I remember him telling me that he was going to be a professional wrestler. I knew it was a dream of his, then all of a sudden he was gone. The next thing I knew was he signed with ( at the time) WWF which ofcourse became WWE. I had not been able to reach him until he show up in my old neighborhood. I didnt realize he was looking for me until my mother called and said Andrew came by to see you. I met with him later at one of our favorite hang out spots. Drew had told me and kept me up to speed on what he felt was really going on. He did a personal feelings for steph, no dought. Truthfully, as the media would and WWE would say that that broke his heart. No, no so much. Not according to my long time friend. I remember Drew a few months before his passing he told me that he felt as if he had been used. Which in turn made him feel useless. I will not go into detail but I will say this.....Drew ( Test) seen what others could not. Almost as if he knew he was more than a foot in the ground. R.I.P. brother....I'm sure not only me but many still miss you terribly....

    • @JeffB-hf9rb
      @JeffB-hf9rb Před 2 lety +4

Actually I can see how he would have felt used. He totally was, even though it may not have been intentional. It's almost as if Trips took his spot. I mean I know this is all a story line, but still. Test had a bunch bigger role in the future of wresting since he was directly involved in the beginning of what ended up becoming a permanent storyline that got mixed with real life. So if he did have feelings for Steph than one could think that he should be now where Trips is. But I don't know the dynamics of Trips and Stephs initial relationship since things can get blurred between the storyline relationship, and the real one. Now I'm a totally straight male, but have some sense of the female psych. Steph might be a bit different since she is used to being around muscular guys, but most women I've met would, based on physical appearance, would be much more attracted to Drew.

I knew Andrew before he went into professional wrestling. We worked together... partied together... I fought alongside him in bar brawls and street brawls. There were times when via unspoken words, we watched each other's backs. Amongst us were some other great friends. We all knew Andrew as a guy with his heart in the right place. He was one of those people who really cared about the friends he made. He was close to his family; and he loved animals... especially his dog.
I remember the day when Andrew and our friend George came over to my place, immediately after he met Bret Hart in Toronto. The three of us were 6'6"; and solidly built. The two of them were already set to go to Calgary to train under Bret. They asked me to come out with them, since they knew that I was a fan of professional wrestling. Being a few years older, I turned down the offer, as I had other plans.
To this day, I always wonder whether Andrew would still be with us if I'd gone with him... and had I been good enough to make it to the WWE with him. He was the sort of person who cherished friendships and good times. Having a friend who he could relate to may have gone a long way. The last time that I saw him in Toronto, he looked sad despite being a well-known Professional Wrestler on TV. I knew in my heart that it was because deep down, Andrew was the kid from a small town in Ontario; and he missed the simple life... a life that was free of all the complications.
I miss him. He was a good friend. I was glad to have known him.

It had been planned for him to wrestle Nathan Jones, but Jones was maybe 6 inches taller than Test, so he refused to wrestle.

Thanks for the upload. Test was an underrated talent. R.I.P. I remember him fondly by his relationship with Stacy Keibler. I thought he was a good wrestler. It's real shitty he got released from his contract from the WWE because of his neck injury. Unless your Austin, or the Rock you'll lose your spot. I really hope some of the guys acknowledged his death. I know I did, and I wasn't even in the business. I was shocked. To be a professional wrestler in the WWE now a days is an acquired taste. You'll either end up feeling fine when you retire from the business and find success outside of the ring if you're superstar , or you will become a drug addict, and die real young if you don't take good care of yourself as man. To be dependent on pills everyday to help you function and do your job well as a wrestler 300 days out of the year is brutal. Mad respect to those guys. What wrestlers go through is much worse than the NBA, the NFL and the MLB, in terms of traveling, driving, training, injuries, and working non-stop.

Thank you very much for this. Your commentary was just great and I did shed a tear at the very end. Thank you for all the great content.

So true that WWE doesn't recognize some of the greats that gave so much of themselves to the business. RIP Test

HHH just casually throwing out that he should have a relationship with Stephanie... HHH only ever did business for himself, it wasn't an innocent, casual comment. It was a play for more power (at the cost of yet another wrestler).

i like watching test. he was a big guy who could move. he was mismanaged, he could have been a great top guy. i dont think anyone doesnt think he deserved better.

Extremely underrated wrestler. I hate the politics that took opportunities from dudes like Test. He could have been a huge star. May he rest in peace.

You always do a great job with all of your videos, but the ones about those that have passed, are by far your best ones. Thank you for being such a fan of this great sport/business. Always very tasteful and a constant professional, you WrestlingBios, sir, you are the G.O.A.T. when it comes to informative videos. Again, thank you man.

Great channel I was hoping for a Test video, he was definitely a missed opportunity. He really should have had a title run in ECW imo #ripandrewtestmartin
