True story from 20 years ago. I lived 5 minutes from a Club Corp Country Club with a $30,000 initiation, and had two young kids and was living paycheck to paycheck. But I wanted to play golf and couldn't afford it. So I went to this club and looked into working there, and almost immediately was hired to run carts on the weekends and pick the range on occasion, etc. I was definitely the oldest guy working there, as it was all teenagers who didn't want to work, and the supervisor, who was actually full time at this club. This was probably the funnest job I ever had, as it was super easy. Just run carts out for members, grab clubs from the club storage for a member whenever they came to play, and when they were done with their round, clean their clubs and store them. I got free meals whenever I was working, which was really good food, and the best benefit was I could play for free on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, and oh, I could bring 3 guests to play with me, also for free. Man, I've never been more popular at my office in my life. My boss, who played golf, suddenly was free to play every Tuesday. That was the greatest gig I ever had honestly, and yeah, they actually paid me to work there, and I got occasional tips too. If I ever lost my day job now, I'd look into finding a private club to work at, doing something like I used to do. What could be better than working at a place where you love what you do? I can't think of anything better.

Not a big deal to me. I'm always seeing a couple guys on the Senior Champions Tour smoking cigars while playing. I've also attended the Zurich 5 of the last 8 years and every time I've seen a few caddies smoking cigars during tournament play. Again no big deal.

Most jobs would frown on employees smoking where they can be seen by the public. Her sponsors pay her and her expenses, therefore, they have the right to expect her to appear at her job or anywhere she is representing them in a professional fashion. In my opinion, she failed, and I'd be having discussions about that with her agent.

It's not a big deal. I once saw Fuzzy Zeller smoking a cigarette on the fairway during the Senior open in Hutchinson Kansas some years ago. He threw it down on the fairway. Worst part was we couldn't light up! Not even in the parking lot.

Arnold Palmer, Jack Niclaus, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Walter Hagan, Bobby Jones and many others smoked cigarettes on the course. The so-called "War on Smoking" enabled too many people to become "Carens" that feel they can complain about anything they don't like personally. The government and many companies once promoted smoking to improve worker productivity. Now, bean counters use anticipated "savings" on HVAC filters and cleaning services to ban smoking in hotels, restaurants and office buildings--even at many resort venues where people should be able to relax and enjoy themselves. Insurance companies use smoking as a way to increase premiums to generate more revenue. When is big brother going to start banning alcohol, which is actually a toxin that can kill immediately, as opposed to 60 or 70 years from now? They already tried that (prohibition) and it didn't work. Where is the outrage regarding beer commercials during NFL games? Little kids watch football and look forward longingly to the day when they can pop open their first beer. People don't drive drunk from smoking cigarettes.
