    Rory is leaving the US and moving back to Europe full time from other news stories I've scene. If he does go DP, he will have the power to sway that Tour to allow amnesty to the LIV guys. Thus making DP tour extremely strong and giving LIV guys a pathway to OWGR points and majors. Game changing move potentially.

      DJ for one stated at the very beginning that he was going to apply for DPWorld Tour mwmbership but LIV members were rejected by Pelley.
      Now that Pelley is gone and if Rory comes back to play "fulltime" on DP then I think there is a higher chance for LIV players to come back a play on DP.
      There are also enough possible gaps in the DP Calendar to allow LIVs full calendar and Majors.
      Tbh, I think LIV could easily run from October to March. Youbcould have your LIV MiddleEast swing coincide with DPs Middle East/African swing and a couple of LIV events in December along with the Australian Open etc.
      With LIV Names, Rory and the best Europe can offer you would genuinely have a Tour that would rival and even overtake PGA

    LIV is Normans current day version of the original WGT concept that the PGA put in place because of players like Nick Price and Greg. Elevated purses, smaller fields and no cuts. These were supposed to be played outside the US. The PGA then decided there was too much money leaking from their coffers and slowly and surely they became US events. LIV is not new, its now just funded by a third party. LIV is the future of pro golf. The US does not own golf. Why would the top golfers play 45 weeks in the US when they could play in Spain, Australia, Singapore, Japan, UAE, Argentina and South Africa ?

    I have noticed this season the PGA is very different. Its like the big tournaments, we miss these guys that are at LIV. Honestly Rory is kind of the last guy left, he's not played good enough to be the star that keeps PGA on top. For example, if this was Tiger in the place of Rory right now, where lot of good guys moved to LIV but Tiger was like the last hold out on PGA, it would still be huge because Tiger has such draw for viewers. Rory isn't that guy, even in his prime, and we could argue his golf isn't at his best right now to boot.
    I prefer PGA tour for most format things, but I like some LIV stuff like the shorts, the music or atmosphere, shotgun start is alright I guess. I'd like to see PGA format with some modern tweaks like the shorts etc, just lighten up a bit. I think LIV really has put a dent into PGA, to the point there is some chance the PGA collapses.

    Love the discussion here MSG. I love golf and have followed the PGA for a long time. All of the hate for LIV from the PGA has soured my outlook towards the main tour somewhat. I'm not completely sold on LIV but I'm coming around. Unfortunately there's always going to be haters no matter what happens at this point. I love the four Majors and feel that is the main draw for the tour. There are a few other tournaments I enjoy but that also depends on who's playing. People can say what they want but LIV bringing in more top talent will bring in fans. I'm still in the AK camp too, no he didn't play great, but it was good to see him playing again. If Rory does leave for the DP world tour others will follow. Now with all that being said, I can honestly say most of my golf is viewed right here on youtube. "Exciting is exciting"? Pro golf is getting harder and harder to enjoy in my opinion. I guess it's exciting for CZcams Golf because interest in the pro game with all this may be waning some. Watching someone get hit by a bus is not exciting IMO, it's just terrifying or sad. I feel the same way about all of this in golf.

    SSG is now the PGA tour , they do not want a merge with LIV and water down their control. Rory wanted a merged world tour and is not happy . DP and LIV merge is now his focus.

    The only problem with the idea of Rory trying to grow the DPWT is that the top 10 players every year have access to the PGAT. From a money perspective DPWT cannot compete with the PGAT so the players will leave.

  • @leesters82
    @leesters82 Před 3 měsíci

    As soon as Rory said he felt like a sacrificial lamb, that was his mind up and it was all about a convenient way of getting out of the PGAT. In my opinion he goes full time on the DPWT, as he won’t go back on the things he said about joining LIV, but then he has the power and leverage within the DPWT to develop the ‘champions league’ format he craves in conjunction with LIV. A win-win for everyone accept the PGAT as they lose the biggest name in golf currently other than Tiger, the DPWT gets a much needed cash injection from the PIF and more eyeballs with Rory featuring and LIV players start to build up their ranking points again by being able to play in recognised events without being penalised once the OWGR Board approve the new format.

    Rory’s whole point is to come to a common ground of a unified tour. Going to LIV after all that would be kind of pointless. I am just tired of all the fractured nonsense and Internet bickering. We need a true global tour that functions like one, not whatever LIV is because whatever their intentions were they didn’t hit that point. Fenway and the PIF can absolutely be on the same page.

    i wouldn't be shocked if rory moved back to ireland. his daughter is getting close to school age and i wonder if he wants her to get an education in the UK/ireland just based on the overall quality of schools that they could offer. sure there's good schools in florida, but these days i wonder if he's just had enough of the issues/politics in florida and wants to give his kid the best chances to go to a decent school and also to be close to his family. that could be a catalyst for him playing more DP events and then just playing the majors in the US.

    Life is short, and opportunities knock only once in your life. The key is knowing what that opportunity looks like. Rory needs to leave PGA and get recognized in LIV for his true value. Forget about what Tiger says. Tiger is jealous.

    I think Rory has seen the writing on the wall... The LIV/PGAT integration is not going to happen.
    My thought is, the PIF is now going nuclear on the PGAT - there is no way back since the SSP deal.
    For the DPWT, it has one chance to get this right, in order to save their tour (now Pelley is gone). Integrate LIV into a full world tour.
    The best of the PGAT/ USA College will still come to LIV - Due to the money alone.
    If the major fields become that watered down due to bans / non-eligibility criteria, are they still Majors anymore? Or just Majors in name only?

    • @flea41
      @flea41 Před 3 měsíci

      One other thing - LIV DOES need a partner Tour - LIV will have turnover players that need a back-up tour to play. This is why the Asian and DPWT deals are critical.

    First off, Tiger was fantastic. His day is all but over now. Not taking ANYTHING away from what he accomplished, but his main rivals were Phil, Vijay, Ernie, and maybe Retief. Rory, majors not withstanding, is the most consistent golfer on tour, that is now FULL of excellence. There are more than ten who have won Majors, and at least 6 have one multiple times ( or the Players). Rory is in a tough spot. He was the voice who defended the PGA and then felt betrayed by them…….. so……… not by his own doing………. He is a man without a country……… or tour in this case. It’s sad for the most consistently talented golfer on the planet.

    I think liv’s just need to change a little the concept and not lose some traditions (tee times, 4 rounds of golf, apparel) the team aspects could be really could if you can make teams by golf brands (Taylormade, titleist, cobra, ping, Callaway, sub70, etc) . If LIV really choose to make it look more serious. I think people will start to watch them more soriously aswell

      I think you're right. For me (and I know lots of people disagree) the shotgun start has to go. To me it ruins the telecast. Maybe at least lose it for the final round. So to your point, add a round 4 and make it a traditional tee off. I also agree that the Team element has to change. It just seems like a gimmicky add still.

    Obviously, he is gonna leave the PGA tour in few months, he will not miss that amount of money offered by LIV. Look, he has not won in PGA tour this year, i.e., so he is not as dominant as he is being sold. He is worth less than Rahm for sure. Plus Rahm is much younger than him.

    Tiger is starting a league of digital golf … imagine if LIV had done that, they’d be hammered by all PGA fans and told to stop embarrassing themselves. Tiger is a giant of the game, but that doesn’t mean all of his ideas are flawless. Isn’t the whole point of the DP world tour for them to be a PGA feeder?
