Donut pin
I have had thoughts on making a triple concentric ring rattlesnake/floating wafer pin would be used in a Medeco biaxial CL. I haven't justified buying what I need to make 1 or 2 of those pins. I have decided to call them hybrid, because it can easily summarize them simply because the pins can be described differently and yet the same. I have came up with some wild stuff to put in CLs that would have made it to the lockporn segment of Bosnian Bill, if he was still active. been thinking about taking up the offer for making a CL and it getting into the hands of LPL. That is if I don't decide to retire from CL making. thanks for the input, if you decide to dive into the seedy dark underbelly side of LockSport and make CLs, my best to you and not only I but others will be glad to help you in your journey
nice video, thank you
These are awesome pins my friend. How about something like J's hoops. Cheers
thanks, hybrid I feel is pretty much spot on, since the pin's description upon inspection can be viewed as more than one way or style of pin.

Pin in Pin with Security ring. Best of Luck with the Name Game!!!
I am probably just going to stick to what I was originally calling them as a whole," hybrid"; simply because even though the pins have differences but are very much the same as they are different , for the most part. I do appreciate your input, but trying to give a solid name to one and then trying to name another one and treating it as a different pin but still functions and has the components and makeup of the previous pin, would basically equal the definition of insanity đ
I call it Cool đđ
I am just sticking with hybrid since they share the same similarities as well as differences. I was just trying to find a conclusion to a debate I've had with myself on trying to name them as singular pins. hard to do, when you break them down, it's a real mind screw. I'm going to stick with hybrids since they all cam be sumerized as triple,. segmented, and whatever else. some flared, some move more than others, some parts are longer than on others, but essentially are the same. it's just straight up insanity by definition I'd say
I got. Variable stacking rattlesnake.
I figured I'd share a insanity inducing question that I've had for awhile and curious to see what others would come up with, so far no matter what pin it is, it's pretty much the same parts, different lengths, some flared on 1 end or both ends, same parts, but distinctly different. now with that being said, would the double rattlesnake PIP technically a quadruple pip? bro.... it's insanity when I try to really figure them out

great name for the whole genre of floating wafer/rattlesnake pins that the hybrids are as a whole, but trying to give them an specific identifying name that can separate the differences between the pins that share same physical aspects and appearances when you begin to look at their similarities and yet differences. Don't know how my removed comment got here- it was for another channel! But anyway those are called "rattlesnake pins" and they're a tricky pick giving many chances for false sets.
what variant of rattlesnake pins would you say. they are able to br described in a few ways - hybrid rattlesnake pins, segmented triple pip, concentric ring , telescopic rattlesnakes. I am trying to find a good name that summarize the look and aesthetics of the complexity pieces of the pins. rattlesnake pin is pretty much the standard base but it's definitely a bit different than a standard rattlesnake or floating wafer pin and trying to get a solid name for this.
@@j.gabriel8573 I'm still on my first cup of coffee so I still have some brain fog going. "Hybrid" sounds good, or maybe borrowing from the world of plants "variegated" would describe them well. I think "cross-bred" would be going a bit too far though as someone might get offended...
@@P_RO_ I will have to make all the variants, but I think it's going to be confusing still and may not get an actual name for each pin that would properly describe it like other pins that are - double spool, mushroom spools, serrated, serrated spool, gin , barrels, etc. simply because these aren't your standard rattlesnake or floating wafer pins. I took something from what was once a driver pin to making them as key pins, the made outer and inner and as well as double rattlesnake PIP pins, several different varieties of what could be called triple pip/ segmented rattlesnake/ etc... I was just trying to get help with names for each of them, by starting off with that particular style. it's just so difficult to properly name and when you are able to make different variables that are essentially the same but yet so different, and they all could fit under the same name but it just doesn't seem right. it's a confusing situation for me, let alone for the picker to tries to make heads or tails of it
@@j.gabriel8573 Pins have gotten quite complex (which is a good thing) but given all the variants, descriptive names are getting equally complex too so I can't offer much other than maybe attaching your name or initials to the usual name for your new inventions. Something like a "JG rattlesnake hat pin" would be easier than describing a "rattlesnake hat spool serrated tapered anti-bump piston" pin to a neophyte picker.
@@P_RO_ I do appreciate you trying to help me out with this, and I also appreciate the others who have been giving interesting names but it's not like I'm trying to showcase the work of some of these pins that I make, it's just trying to find an appropriate name for them even though they share a lot of similarities and I think I'm going to have to redo that video or rather make a new one showing and showcasing the different ones of why I want to name them or give them an appropriate name. name. It's been something I've been struggling with for a while because I don't know what to call them. but if they had to have a name just to put them in a clump classification without giving a detail of what they really are, would be hybrid. I see them being seen in so many different ways and it could be very confusing. once again I do like to say thank you for trying to help me with this confusing task

I appreciate it. call me. just run across a dysfunctional channel that dives in to a bit of insanity more or less to the dark side of LockSport, which entails the dark arts of causing pain and grief inside of small torture devices called challenge locks who indulge themselves and like to have their single pin picking skills pushed to the limits.
@j.gabriel8573 I totally agree with your views on your other videos. I've noticed a few people take it to serious and ruin it for others. Just a quick why it's wrong to bump a cl lock? Is it because it may damage it? I don't bump locks but wouldn't mind adding it to my arsenal.
@martinstockbridge3449 lock bumping will mess up stock locks especially the key pins. I do need to make a video on the evolution of challenge locks. many challenge locks have hidden tricks and features, even down to custom security pins that are multiple parts that can't take the forces exerted on them from other attack methods. I have had pins get bent, warped and broken by excessive tensioning. the thing that I have came to understand about that challenge locks are more for SPP and challenging the picker in that method to improve their skills and it's not all about getting the challenge lock open by whatever means that doesn't destroy the lock. it's a whole different ballgame from the time Bosnian Bill was taking them on and even then he had outlined rules and how he would attack them, but there was also a prize involved for the CL makers who whipped him.
@j.gabriel8573 yes that's what I thought it may damage them. My main goal is to improve my spp. Just wanted to try some bumping . I'm still finding security pins hard and be a while before I get a CL. đ
@martinstockbridge3449 I do have some bump keys and a bump hammer, I wouldn't recommend doing locks that you cherish in your collection but just to mess around with I would find some locks that you wouldn't really care about possibly damaging.
Don't let anyone get to you J. In CLs you are a legend imho and quite frankly, you have imparted more knowledge and advice to the community about them that it would be a travesty if you left. thanks, this is old. I should have taken this down but left it up as a reminder to me and that I should have done my due diligence and investigated instead of being so trusting of someone who didn't be totally honest and with held details.
@@j.gabriel8573 been there, done that, I have the t-shirt! There have been some, not many, but some, whom I have trusted (not just in Locksport btw) who I trusted too much instead of doing my own due diligence and reacting instead on too little information or incomplete (sometimes intentionally incomplete) so I perfectly understand where you are coming from. We live and we learn. Hang in there brother!
Very nice explanations. I remember when BB started this, throughout the whole challenge lock comp there were lots of people in the comments who used to complain each video when he changed from only SPP them to giving them a rake first to a false set then spp'd to the open. People felt that if he couldn't pick the lock spp then he needed to declare a whipped to the challenge lock builder and send the paclock out. People felt that by him raking the lock to a false set then spp'd, was being disrespectful to the challenge lock builder and to the modifications that were put in place to be experienced individually, not raked and 'overlooked'. People felt that raking to a false set constituted cheating in the comp to get out of having to declare a whipped and sending out a lock. After this went on for some time eventually BB decided he wouldn't do anymore challenge locks. This controversy has been going on since then. Cheers
always a pleasure to get more insight from what I understood about the BB CL Saga. It was his rules, and if whipped he'd send out a prize. If the lock survived, it went into the community. Challenge locks have evolved way more from their humble beginnings, but to be fair on hybrid picking, I don't really see the harm if they are calculated and not haphazardly raking and sloshing a rake around in the key way. that could be comparable to B!t h picking or going into the extremes. you have some excellent insights and I think more people should be encouraged to share their thoughts on challenge locks and a universal approach and guidelines.
I really like your thoughts about that a piece of you gets to travel around the world. a wonderful heartfelt apology and some great advice to challenge lock makers and pickers, cheers

understandable, that one may be able to handle raking to a certain point. challenge locks I do agree are really more about improving SPP and that insight gets overlooked.
