Right on well I'm trying to get a good set of standard rules universal across the board. I know the pins have changed and challenge locks have progressed way more and I do have an understanding of why there was the update with best practices compared to how it was when Bosnian. Bill was taking on challenge locks. I was misled on some of this drama stuff and I have been eating Crow and been feeling bad about it because I wasn't sure about all the details and who was really all involved and whatever reasons it just seemed like somebody was just being bullied and seemed like they were being threatened and given some of the things I thought was pretty much stupid of how the locksport community acted on some things or in the past I was ready to go to war with everybody. I'm about to make a Saturday ramble video and go a little bit more into detail.

I appreciate the comments, I've had a lot going on with a stolen vehicle and a bunch of other stuff that just keeps hitting me left and right in life. I think that when it comes to challenge locks there needs to be a lot of gray area removed. now with the LockSport hobby and everything there needs to be gray area and I'm probably going to make a video on this as well as explaining even to the newcomers. the whole thing about Boston Bill with challenge locks cuz a lot of people don't understand that it was pretty much a contest/giveaway and those rules really applied for what he was doing and not necessarily what is said for challenge logs these days. factory locks apps. sure, no problem. as long as you own them fuck, but challenge locks is a whole different story.

Impact Double Ended Spigot with 5/8" Stud and 1/4"-20 Threads is what you search for on Amazon, the brass has doubled from $8 USD up to $30+ the other like chrome, but if on discord there's the Chuck vise there's quite a few people who can 3d print you that piece and a more stable vise. it's okay the one I have, but to be honest I'd like to have some of the other ones that I have seen on other pickers videos or on picking time.
if you do decide the Amazon part, the 5/8" bottom isn't necessary, the 3/8" version will fit in the base if not,.cut that off and the rest of it will. it was something that Picksmith had created awhile back

brother, I don't want to leave but if it's going to turn into one of those bullying deals for hybrid picking or raking a challenge lock open. then it's not for me anymore. it wasn't like that when I came in cuz Bosnian Bill, a high ly regarded and influential and inspirational member of the lot community who retired used hybrid picking, as well as rate and rocked challenge locks open. I'm just not down for the bullying and shaming people for that. there are other things a lot worse she could do to a challenge lock and when I heard that, to me it felt like a slap in the face. when I had joined the community and got interested in it, stuff like that was not tolerated and it should not be tolerated. I don't care who you are, how many subscribers you got or whatever. it's not fair and it's not right then you might as well. black ball Bosnian Bill , he might as well blackball LPL for picking his own lock of his car that was in use because it's his and he owns it and he gave himself permission to pick it. I respect you brother but if it's going to get this bad in the Locksport community I have no place in it anymore and if people feel bad about it for what I said towards me they can send me back my challenge locks cuz they no longer have permission to pick my locks. they will be in violation of rule number two and they should be blackballed. I'm standing firm and strong on this man and it was very uncool. like I said, I respect you and I appreciate you if you understanding what I am trying to say here.

Mate, sounds like someone's really rattled your cage here. My take is that CLs are made and sent out to wander the wastelands for eternity. The challenge is to open them, without using brute force of course. No drilling folks! 🤣
I personally don't rake challenge locks to get them open as I prefer an spp approach. That's true of all locks unless they're cheap ass locks or wafer locks. I sometimes rake locks but it's not a way I feel that I can best a lock. This doesn't mean I'm going to go around telling other folks off about their approach to getting opens.
At the end of the day, it's a hobby. There are no rules when you're sat at home picking locks you own, or have permission to pick. Don't let the haters bring you down my friend 😉👍🏻

I am relatively new to challenge locks, so I do not know the "unwritten rules", and can imagine many other people dont either. Sure, I can assume i am not supposed to drill it, but never thought i am not supposed to rake/rock/jiggle it. I would want to look at forensics to confirm, but i imagine heavy handed spp can do as much damage or more than raking or bumping depending on the materials and pin cuts in the lock. I think if there are special instructions for a challenge lock (and there might be) write them down, and also accept when you send a lock out in the wild you do not have any control, those instructions might get lost, someone might install it on their front door, loose the key, and then call a rookie locksmith to open it as quick as possible (we know what happens then :-/ ). Que sera sera.

I dig it, why there's rules and beat practices, but in that what you have said, that there's going to be a criminal element that's going to interject itself. That is the ugly truth, temptation is every where and that's why there's a respect, responsibility, as well rules and guidelines are put in place. each has their purpose and moral applications.
A legit user/owner of said lock, from a certain manufacturer sales product top dollar, claims that it's high security and quality that you should have no worries about criminal mischief and can sleep well.
the company has a bogus rating system, the lock fails to be secure at all and the customer fell victim to false advertisement and then owner should know how secure it is, what's the best use for that lock to secure and also allow potential buyers know if it's a good product or not a good reputable product to secure particular items.
there's going to be gray area, but how much really has to be there?
you have mentioned a valid point, but even before CZcams, there was information in books, mentions in movies and TV shows.
I'm just trying to keep it fun, legal and respectable.
