987.2 Cayman S Exhaust Install - Part 1
Just had a 55% bamboo 35% Tencel and 10% elastane and it was the best shirt for a summer hike I ever had. Had both synthetic and merino before but for summer the bamboo is absorbent, cooling and amazing feeling on the skin. Also it was drying pretty well. AND IT DOESN'T STINK AT ALL. I was sweating for two days in it and I could use it for a day more no problem. For me in the stink factor it is comparable to merino. You used mostly cotton shirt which doesn't tell much about the bamboo. So it will be merino for winter bamboo for summer from now on. Also nice thing is that the bamboo is half the price of merino.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep an eye out for that blend
Nice car nice sound, definitely worth the effort. It's just a pity you have those hideous bumpers either side of the number plate. Thankfully, we don't have them on European Porsches.
With a title like "modified stock exhaust " I assumed it was DIY mod... The video did not explain or show that you just replaced the entire exhaust with a new one that was modified at a factory. That is why so many complain that you did not show the mod. Video should explain better what it is and that it is not a mod you do at home yourself.
Okay, a point to be made about bamboo holding onto more water and evaporating water relatively quickly...it's cooling you faster. If you were, say, in Las Vegas right now, as I write this, and the outdoor temperature was around 110 degrees Fahrenheit, you would be cooling off better than you would wearing either synthetic or merino wool. (Or plain cotton for that matter).
When you went to remove the exhaust clamp, I was saying “Let’s see how he goes here” because I’ve heard it’s troublesome. When I heard the “Many Unbearable Hours Later”, I laughed SO hard!! I’ve been there so many times with various things. Your humour and realism is awesome! The big thing though, was the end result. Your decision to go back to the stock exhaust is enlightening, informative and a great warning. Your thoughts in advance are what mine would have been. Great to see the reality before going there myself. Thanks!!!
Well done! Please do another video with 100% bamboo and 100% cotton
what did you splice into at 12:00?
Hey John, the best I can remember is that there is a vacuum line in that area that I used to provide vac to the exhaust valve controller
appreciate the effort
If you pull the reservoir cap and. cover it with a piece of plastic film then reinstall the cap the lack of air movement will keep most of the fluid in the system. Kind of like putting your finger on the top of a straw.
Carnewall GT for the win! Got one in my base 987.1
I've got a Turner 8 oz. catch can to install and I already have the IPD plenum, so I have to use the port provided on the other side. I agree on the area you chose for the installation placement is a good pick, due to really tight quarters in the engine bay. Hope this solves the issue of oil ingestion.
Hey buddy, I just purchased this exhaust and I’m about to install it tomorrow. Can you send me a video slowed down of how you wired the vacuum system. I can’t find any instructions on this part of the install. Thanks!
your bamboo one was over fifty percent cotton though. And that's the worst for drying. Take hundred percent bamboo.
Wow unfortunate, I thought it sounded great from the outside
So the drone was both valves closed and open? Better/worse one way other the other?
Drone was both. Open was very loud in general in the cabin but still had that extra resonance
I have a RUF 3800S boxster with a 3.8 911 engine. Also a GT4 transmission which revs to 3000 rpm at 70 MPH. Not going to pay 3500 for a Fabspeed or , gulp, 5K for a capristo. Contemplating giving this a shot. Quality looks good. Tommy L Garage has a video showing exact placement of vacuum and electrical lines for a different valved system.
POR15 all the rear subframe pieces
Can't wait to see donuts in the snow!
How did you rotate the engine to make sure the valve was closed
Disconnected the coil packs and then bumped the starter
Please explain what was done to this stock exhaust to make it sound great. How would one of your subscribers go about taking this route. Where did you purchase the exhaust from? Thanks
I got this used off a forum. If you search there are people who claim to know how this mod is done, but I'm not one of them unfortunately. The original creator of the exhaust was a company called carnewal
@@132ksgwhat forums were you looking at to find one? I want one myself but I want to keep the stock exhaust system as well.
@@theevan.4919 I got the car CPO from a dealership
@@132ksg no like what forums were you using to find the used exhaust? Thanks!

Mate, your the best! Just the vid i needed 🤙🏻💪🏻. Thanks for your research.
Amazing…..❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for this video man. Also enjoyed your commentary 😂
You put it in upside down. Why shield the street from your exhaust heat?
I have Borla ‘ 👍👍
Awesome vid!!! Super helpful and great sounding exhaust. Unfortunate on the final outcome.
Similar to others, would love to see the same experiment with a 100% bamboo shirt
Man keep doing this video your channel is gold
Very nice
Try a garden pump sprayer won't dilute product down
981 Boxster S manual transmission. Fabspeed Tracktec exhaust. Drone cruising at 2000rpm. Sold it. Thought PDK didn't have it. Going to PSE.
Do you have the link ok this exhaust?

Super handy! Making it look way too easy. Also loving that center console wrap; any info or guides you can link me to? Wish it came this way from the factory!
That’s pretty fast
Your channel is criminally underated. Fantastic content.
I see you didnt remove the headers..WHY ??
Great detailed video. By the end result, it’s a real bummer mate. But all people’s perception of cabin drum tolerance is different, and without the opportunity to sit in an auto and listen for yourself, it was worth a shot (but I would say that, being that it was easy for me to watch instead of go through the expense and time you did). Personally, I’d just open it up when you feel like getting some attention, unloaded cruising, or when the roof’s down, and leave it closed the rest of the time. Like everything though, modifications are always going to be about 90% research. You did what you could. Thanks for sharing! 👏
Good to hear someone being honest about things. It did sond good but if not practical no point.
hi can you send me a link where you buy this thk u
Always like the Cayman, but didn’t want one until the 981 came out…. Recently sold my 981 CS PDK with after market exhaust for a base 718 6MT and couldn’t be happier The base 718 is much quicker than my 981 S
Great video, exactly what i was looking for
Great video! I’ve been thinking about this exhaust for years now… still haven’t pulled the trigger.
Unfair comparison as Bamboo contain a mixture of materials and one of them being cotton which is absolutely terrible for holding on to water and equally to dry as well. Would have thrown a cotton T shirt in as well for comparison, but thank you as reckon I will stick with Merino despite its price.
Love the exhaust... Wonderful .
Great video and super detailed and informal :) About ready to deep clean all the memories and nasty smells of the previous owner that didn’t once even try to vacuum lol
In which state do you live? Why are folks so curious?
? քʀօʍօֆʍ
@carskigo did you end up keeping this exhaust? Do you like it?
Bamboo would make a great headband but not mask.
After living with the Cayman for several days, do you feel that it can fit as a daily driver or is it more of a weekend fun car?
