There aren't a lot of CZcamsr's I watch who would even attempt this, let alone be as civilized as you were in your efforts to get that Borla Exhaust on. As an old-timer, for years I worked on my own cars, often made mistakes, but eventually always got the thing up and running and back on the road. Good to see the DIYer is alive and well - especially with a Cayman S. I, too, have a 987.2, love the car, but was fortunate enough to have picked it up with a Remus exhaust already installed on it. Please keep these videos coming. I suspect your numbers will grow quickly. Of course, looking forward to successful resolution, whatever it turns out to be.

Marc Saegaert Marc, I haven't been doing this CZcams thing for very long but this is the best comment I've received, than you for the support!

Very helpful clip , just bought a second hand 987.2 3.4 rear exhaust £100 removing rear cats and and adding bypass pipes , same as I did on my 987.1 2.7 , these exhausts are a low grade stainless steel , best to weld back up after cat removal with stainless MIG wire by stitching , I bronze brazed 2 2 " stainless pipes in the top pipe give a Sport mode sound and it howled on the 987.1 2.7 , will report back on the outcome of the 3.4 gen 2 , and get some rolling road figures as having it remapped and set up afterwards
Save $$$$$ do it your self
Also working on a Gt3 82 mm throttle adapter plate to use standard plenum, but that's another project , aiming for 340/350bhp without spending a fortune...

I was glued to the video, anticipating success and a sample sound of the Borla exhaust. Sorry that it didn't work out.
It sounds like you might consider the Carnewal GT exhaust next. I installed a Carnewal GT five years ago. It sounds much better than OEM, it's not obnoxious loud for the neighbor to complaint yet, and there is absolutely no drone. Unfortunately I have a need to tinker so I bought a Borla race exhaust and will attempt this same install soon. Hopefully I will have better luck than you did.

Wow - that was a lot of work without a pay off for you. Hope you got a good resolution. Working on these cars is fun and infuriating. Most everything would be easy (albeit messy) if the darn car was wrapped around all the cool bits we want to modify! Look forward to watching the rest of your 987.2 journey.

Thanks for the comment! Still looking for a used exhaust as I can't justify paying full price. One of these days...

@@132ksg I hear you. The good stuff for these cars does not come cheap! I love my SOUL but you have to be committed to your whip to bolt it on. Good luck with your car projects. Look forward to following along.

That really sucks that it didn’t fit. Still shopping for a new exhaust? The Carnewal exhaust sounds so bad ass. And cheap at about $700. It’s actually a modified Cayman exhaust, and it’s so cheap because after install you ship them your stock exhaust as a core replacement or whatever that’s called. Gonna get one for my 08 CS as soon as I can.

I like the way that carnewal exhaust sounds, I'll have to do a little more research on it. Thanks for the info!

CarSkiGo cool. Yeah Carnewal is in Europe so if you don’t want to deal with shipping from/ to overseas I think they’ve authorized one shop in America named Cantrell Motorsport to do the same mod and sell the exhaust.

Hi! question which is totally unrelated to the exhaust - But where did you find the Roof rack for your car? Really looking to find one for my 987.2 cayman, Thanks!

Its the porsche branded rack. I would check some forums or ebay for a used one.

That’s a good try! It sucks that it wasn’t the year for your car.im about to attempt the same on my 2007 Cayman.
