First generation Cayman‘s 987 are the nicest it’s the best design Porsche has ever made and mid engine is overall superior vs an engine in the rear 911 still have my base Cayman 987 from 2008 perfect car !

My 2009 base in Ruby Red metallic is way more than the sum of all its parts. Amazing vehicle!

As an ‘09 base owner, I’m always happy to see reviews of this car, but aside from the comments about owner-upgrades I don’t feel the review really added much to what’s out there. (TBH, I wanted more glowing praise of the 987.2.)

I love my 2006 S 3.4L. this is my first Porsche. 3rd and 4th gears are just nuts! it holds the RPMs up so high that shifting through acceleration is thrilling in sport mode. I owned in recent years a Ford GT500 and Nissan 350Z and neither are as thrilling as this although the Z has similar power and handling.

I've seen a couple of these videos and like others I feel these 1-mile reviews are missing some extra oomph. Some suggestions:
    - You should have an interview with the owner. Some owners may not like being on the camera but if they do, you should have formula questions to ask each owner. I like how Rennthusiast does it with their car reviews - but their's are too long, I would not recommend doing it as long as there's. czcams.com/video/UIZbqGzrhiA/video.html
    - You should go more then 1 mile. 1 mile especially if you are behind a slow car like in this review means nothing. You need a 1/2 to 1 hour in the car and put it thru different paces. This is a track car but you put it on the same country road - what does it tell me in this video. Nothing.
    - Give some data on the car you are reviewing. What is it worth today, what is the most popular mods for that car, what to look out for.
    - I like that you are reviewing member cars but unless you add more value to the video, its not going to be worth my time to watch them.

My personal favorite Porsche from that era. Smooth lines, very well balanced, super fun to drive but never demanding. Take it to the local AX in the morning and you have a formidable competitor. Then give it a good wash and you are ready to take your gal out on the town that evening. The stock suspension was a bit too soft so stiffer springs or a set of R/T coilovers really wake up the chassis and put the "sport" back in this sports car.
    Cheers!

Love the video :) You should maybe add a 4th category of “fun factor” or “performance”.

Thanks! Yes, we’re thinking about adding a new category based on feedback. Thanks for your feedback!

Great review. Damon should do more videos - he is excellent on camera. Hope you guys can make it to a Potomac AX this season.

This one mile review is an interesting premise, but it's just missing something. I wish I could put my finger on it. I sort of get the idea why to keep it short, because EVERYONE else does reviews, and a one mile review is different, but still, something is missing.

Appreciate the various P car trials, but a one mile drive really doesn’t give you an much feedback. Can’t even warmed it up. Why don’t you just take it for a full ride and give that feedback. Just a suggestion. Thanks.

Can you do an APR stage 1 tuning on this car?

The original 😊 987.1 looks slightly cleaner front and rear. Iconic Guards Red.

Not bad. Stock seats and not too low means no need to put your hand on the sill to get out.

How common is bore scoring on these...want one but am terrified to buy at a price of X and then have to spend 0.3 to 0.5x on an engine.....have seen that happening and it has ruined the whole thing for me in terms of old Porsche's ...any of them as the GT3's are too costly by a lot now. Had 2 911's in the past...so I am not a "troll"...

Vanishingly rare but greater than zero. This car is not DFI which may help some. On a cold morning, get in the car and drive it gently right away. This gets the lubrication flowing quickly which protects wear surfaces.
