How to Skate Like Kaprizov 🏒
zhlédnutí 42KPřed 11 měsíci
Drills from footage of Kirill Karpizov's highlight tapes. Steve from BK Hockey runs us through several skating-based drills that replicate what we've seen Kirill Kaprizov do on the ice (games/warm-ups). You'll notice a big focus on opening the hips with mohawks, as Kaprizov utilizes the "10&2" skating in his game more than almost any player in the National League. 2023 Toronto Summer Camp - BK ...
30-Minute Stickhandling Session (Follow Along!) 🏒
zhlédnutí 67KPřed 11 měsíci
Upgrade your hands with this 30-Minute Follow Along Stickhandling Session that you can do from home! All you need is a stick, 6 pucks, and a little bit of space to stickhandle. I'm using synthetic ice tiles and a dangle puck, but this can be done on concrete or any hard flooring with a green biscuit or similar puck. If you enjoyed this session, you'll love the stickhandling sessions that I uplo...

@hockeytraining is it just me or do you play with a short stick? Where does your stick hit standing up straight? Trying to figure out if I should shorten my stick a bit to speed up hands.
I’m going to implement some of these routines into my small workout regimen. I like doing the military press with free weights for strengthening of the shoulders. I’ve noticed overpowering opponents with my stick strength now.
I need lower back to
New test, the Bedard Test: Skate into a stationary rubber dummy and see if it breaks your jaw
I love skating. Unfortunately due to ankle injuries playing football I do not have the flexibility to Mohawk and transition properly. I have been skating for a few years now and struggling playing roller hockey and ice hockey. Non the less I still love skating and hockey.
wouldn’t it be better if the weak leg skate wasn’t dragging in a lot of the movements? somebody told me the best skaters never drag their blades. i don’t know if that’s true or not but it makes sense because dragging is robbing you of speed. either way this guy is still a really strong skater.
thank you for this video! Im a former basketball player who just started ice skating. Im a big guy 6'8'' and 250lbs and I struggled with my ankle strenght and stability... I just bought a brand new Bauer Supreme M5s (my friend's recommendation), 1 size smaller than my regular shoe size... I will do this challenge day by day for 30 days and I will let you know the results :) I need a LOT of work with my body and it will be slow grind for me... but I will get there! Thank you for the inspiration!
Love it great advice
Can u perform these as not supersets?
Mcdavid decent?
Didn’t even know the NHL had a combine
Hello! where have you gone? Glad to see you again!
I'm almost forty and i need to be able to blow past 19 year olds please help me
Holden Johnson asking a question? Are you oblivious?
Dude can I get a signed puck?!?!
Stamina thats it.
You’re lost buddy having strong and mobile hips and ankles is gonna make you a better hockey player without even stepping foot on the ice

I use to do the US developmental camps and would score the lowest on every test except for sprints. I still destroyed everyone at the regional and state levels, hockey IQ is much more valuable than athleticism.
What are the reps and sets?
DISLIKE for McDavid remark.... u shoul not talk about hockey!!! DISLIKE !!!!
Yoked? lol
Why do they even have a combine in hockey ? This isn’t football
This is great for fighters as well i like to study athletes from different athletic backgrounds i like learning from hockey because they prioritize this stuff
Yeah mcdavid is a decent player i guess 😂😂😂 dudes best on the world and i dont even like the guy
That's some really nice camera work too.
McDavid is not just a decent player he's the best in the nhl today
It was a joke…

Litotes - a rhetorical device characterized by deliberate understatement. Nobody thinks Connor McDavid is an average hockey player.
I guess they have a new McDavid picked out already lol
Sam Reinhart couldn’t do a single pull-up and just scored 50 goals this year.
It is to get an idea of all aspects of the prospects athleticism but in hockey skill can beat speed and strength sometimes. Lots more of average-ish built nhl players than football. Those guys are specimens
Whats a good rep scheme for this? Like 5 to 10 reps and maybe 3 rounds?
Hey mate, great vid. Do you use a shorter stick for this? And if so, do you get a slightly lower flex to compensate for this?
NHL trying to be like football so bad. fitness tests barely translate compared to football. There are some Hall of Famers that would absolutely suck at this. Most of the freak guys talk about on their team weren’t anything more than guys with extreme endurance. The yoked up gym mutants can carve out good careers for themselves, Some even become stars, but testing high draft picks like this, like it has any bearing on what they are able to do out there is silly.
Hockey is a game of skill. Football is a game of almost pure athleticism. Someone could walk into football late if they are a good enough athlete. That is impossible in hockey. You pretty much have to start playing at five or six years old or you'll never catch up.
Conor McDavid turned out to be a decent player…… thats was the understatement of our generation.
Your time is better spent doing something more sport-specific than ladders. Just skate more. The only people hockey players with 'weak ankles' I've ever seen are rank novices.
Interested on positive self-talk tapes
Cool challenge. What did you notice in your on ice performance and skating ?
Thanks for the tips, It helped I’m 11 and it’s my dream to become a hockey player thanks a lot!
Really don't get a combine for hockey! It's not the nfl and if there not testing things like on ice speed and agility it's pointless
Nothing hits better than a pregame glitzy and a beer as a beer leaguer
“And he turned out to be a decent player”
It was a joke
It's just a general fitness/athleticism test, dude... teams don't use it to determine draft positions... an immensely talented kid who's to lazy to put in effort is just another indication of commitment
What are your thoughts on doing laceless training or loose skate training? My power skating coach as a kid would have us skate for like 10 mins before sessions without tying our skates to build ankle strength and told us not to tie the top eyelet for better ankle mobility. I guess this was something the Russians did or do. I've since seen a lot of mixed reviews on this but I personally feel that it absolutely increased my ankle strength and because of that I prefer my skates looser. I use wax laces and tie the bottom fairly tight but leave the top rather loose and skip the top eyelet
I think it's great for building ankle strength. Just need to be careful the player has built up the ankle stability to try it because you don't want them rolling their ankle
Where's the Winnwells? Or the STX, or maybe Tron ?
Reminds me of the ACT/SAT
Oh would you look at the guy at the end. Just look at him.
