I Spent 30 Days Training my Shot Power 🏒

  • Using an extreme 30-day plan, will I be able to increase my shot power in one month?
    I wanted to find out, so I put together a shooting training system I call the "6-Second Shot Power System", a daily shot power routine, and explosive strength training workouts to give it a go.
    And to ensure I stuck to my workouts and trained hard for the full 30 days, I would force myself to switch to a wood hockey stick for the rest of my hockey season if I couldn't improve my shot power over the 30 days of training.
    Check out the full video to see the results.

    I’ve got a radar for my son (8), and I first put up 1/2” OSB targets, then 1/4” plywood, and now 1/2” plywood to encourage him to break by taking the hardest shots he can, every shot. He has broken the 1/2” within 100 shots, so now I’m heading towards 3/4”. I’m impressed by how hard of a shot an 8yo has achieved by just encouraging him to shoot his hardest on every shot.

      That's a way of doing it. Only have him do say so many shots just before he fatigues. Every week have him add 1 shot extra. That'll increase power and it's known as progressive overload. Also great to use when working out 😊

    Im working on muscle memory for my shot right now so would it be better to do a lot of shots or less but more power. I normally shoot somewhere around 100 pucks a few times a week

    What's your height, weight, stick flex?

    So you’re shooting just under 60 MPH standing still with no forward momentum. Do you think this would be faster on ice because of movement and less resistance than a shooting pad? It would be interesting to see how these results translate on the ice.

      Yes my shot would be quite a bit harder if I was skating and shooting off ice. I would be curious to know if the 2 MPH gain would have been larger on ice if I tested before and after on ice as well.

    Strange you are shooting from left to right foot. I’d shoot to the inside foot and load up the stick 🤷‍♂️

    • @hockeytraining
      @hockeytraining  Před rokem

      You should practice off both feet. I've been doing mostly outside leg shooting as I grew up mostly only shooting off my inside leg. Watch Auston Matthews shoot... majority of the time he's going off outside leg.
