This server gameplay is something I have longed for in DCS World for quite some time now. As a former sonar tech/supe I absolutely love any games that incorporate antisubmarine warfare into a playable format. Now in DCS thanks to @eatleadcobra we have submarines who are actively trying to sink our shipping. His server is called Free WWX - Eastern Front 19XX.
You may recall an older video I made on his server which detailed the cool supply mechanic and torpedo bombing you could do. It used to be called Free WWII - Eastern Front 1946 because it was WWII focused. You could still do torpedo runs but now we have a new menace underneath the surface trying to use their torpedoes on your shipping. It is now called WWX because with the release of the Phantom, he has moved the server into the early Cold War. We now have propeller driven WWII planes, helicopters, and some jets. This might sound like a crazy mix but it makes for some really fun flying with others.
Of all the things now added to the server, my favorite without a doubt is hunting the submarines. All aircraft can drop sonobuoys but the Hip and the Mosquito can actually tune up the sonobuoys. When you tun up the sonobuoys you could actually listen to the audio from the sonobuoy to determine how far away the submarine is. This is SO much fun and this video is going to teach how to use the ARC-9 radio in the Mi-8 Hip to drop sonobuoys, tune them up, and kill the submarine threatening your shipping. We'll also briefly go over dropping bombs in the Hip and resetting the bomb panel after rearming off a ship at sea. I hope you enjoy!
