HOOK THERAPY FISHING
United States
Registrace 12. 11. 2015
Hook Therapy used to be called Creative Fish Studio where I, along with my two young boys, were getting back into the fish hobby. We explored the underwater world of fish and other aquatic life via this wonderful aquarium-based hobby. We got excited over small victories and tried to figure out what went wrong when I failed. As the boys have grown, a lot has changed. The biggest change was our move from Virginia to Michigan. We left our beloved home and koi pond behind and moved onto a River. Because we have this large body of water out back, we haven't yet thought about building another koi pond as we been having fun exploring the river and learning to fish. Join us as we...again...try something new and all the adventures it brings.

It's Been Two Years...I Owe You An Explanation

It's been 2 years since I last updated this channel. Things got crazy as the world shut down for a while and then on top of that, I moved my family from Virginia to Michigan. My wife and I grew up in Michigan and were really excited to move back because we had begun to idealize many aspects of our childhood when comparing them to that of our children-primarily the desire to be outside during th...
Modern Koi Pond 2020 Mid-Summer Update - Lots of Growth!

This year hasn't turned out anything like we'd expected and I'm finding myself at home more than ever. I've been enjoying the calming sounds and movement of the water and life within. We did finally make a trip to visit my family in Michigan for a few weeks and came back to the pond being overgrown, a little dirty and with a broken waterfall pump. We also had some other big house problems we ca...
DIY Modern Koi Pond Update After 3 Years

Many people still ask me about the pond my son and I dug in the backyard 3 years ago. It's still going strong and we love it as much or more than day 1. I do have a better filter now and the water is crystal clear. This past winter never really got cold and we grew some crazy hair algae for the first time ever. It was really clogging the pump and the filter was barely getting any flow through i...

Click to subscribe: bit.ly/1Tb2yUt Going into our 3rd summer with the DIY Modern Koi Pond and it's time for a deep cleaning. Last year I decided not to install the net and see how I faired....the amount of leaves that went i...
Snake In The Koi Pond --- It Ate One Of My Goldfish!

It's been quite a snake-filled summer so far. We've had quite a few snakes making our pond their home. We're working on ways to get them out and then keep them from coming back, but hadn't replicated it yet. Overall it looks pretty good...it just has snakes. Let me know if you have any ideas to rid the area of snake. -Tony

What is the name of the white coral
🩷😊🧘♀🧡💛great video 💚💚
Theres a rim on there for a reason. Dont do this. It will lower the life of your aquarium and you will find water on your floor if you do this
Was it a pain removing the silicone?
I have hesitated to give this a go, but you have helped me decide to give it a try!
The birds are gona believe that’s a crane for a second 😂 but beautiful pond
How are the predators have they been major issues without a cage or netting? We have raccoons local cats but mostly raccoons that cause problems that I have caught trying to fish in our little pond it is why I am making mine MUCH deeper at least 4 feet straight down no ledges for them to take fish from. :/ I would love to hear how your fish have been fairing as you seem to be in a location with more wildlife. FYI I live in a city so I was shocked to even see the raccoons.
Any update on the koi fish pond?
we need another update maaan its been 3 years
Snakes have eaten my 13 kois. Now I have an pond with just a small fountain.
Father and son project I love it
We moved into a house with a fountain similar to the koi pond, where would I find my supplies for pumping out the water? We need to drain and give it a good cleaning as well and may need a new pump.
Thanks for the help
Do you need heater in the winter? How cold is your winter?
You've got yourself a right fight against nature for the rest of your life.. Inexplicable why you don't go along with nature and embrace wildlife, frogs, toads newts dragonflies, water beetles, bats, birds, and plants galore... Oxygenating plants, marginal plants.. And decay is good!!! All the saprocillic species associated with decay.. Obviously fungus, beetle larval stages.. You'll be snipping off every lily leaf as it yellows and threatens to rot. But hang on nature abhors a vacuum! You call it modern? I understood composting funerals whereby we get buried not burned in shallower graves in wicker caskets where the soil life can get munching on us.. That's modern.. Will you opt to be pickled for eternity in formaldehyde? Not just Inedible but also toxic to soil life and ground water.. That's one idea of modern.. Old fashioned 1950s modern?!
hi you know how I can clean a stock tank like your with white stain of chlorine ?
How do you clean the fish poop out the stock ponds
Great video! Subbed. Had a question for ya, I am setting up a 100 gallon stock tank , do you think 2 75gallon rated sponge filters will work?
Thanks for the sub. I think 2 75 Gallon sponge filters will do well, especially if you are in the shade and do partial water changes. I think water filters are my favorite filtration
Lemon grass will not do anything.. I have a lime bush and grass snake lives right under it in my garden
Do you unplug the UV light before going through the cleaning procedure?
Yes. I always unplug the light when there isn’t water going through it
Beautiful pond love the work❤
I had one for about 7 years. Community tank, 55 gallons, with dwarf gourami, neon tetra, mollies, african dwarf frog, nerite and mystery snails. he never picked on any fish. Such great personality (wife's favorite), we had some cheap plastic rock ware piece with a good sized hole in the back. He would hide there often, especially during the day, but when he was out he was super inquisitive and moved in a more purposeful way compared to other fresh water fish.
I purchased one years ago and was told he was good for community tanks but every morning I would wake up and a fish or two would be missing. I realized my leaf fish was predatory and enjoying nightly snacks. He was beautiful and I loved watching his quirky behaviors but I had to take him back. I wouldn’t mix neon tetras, endlers, or rasboras in with them unless it’s a large tank and they’re full grown.
This looks like an injury to me, just incase you were wondering
I have the same one but the rear window is broken how can I fix it
My baby’s name was Squishy. Green spotted puffers will always be my favorite! 💚🐡💚
O.O I've never seen an anemone walk before... and I lived on Guam. I'd love to have a little 30 gal with some chromis and a little puffer, starfish and some shrimp and maybe 1 black clown.. I'd love to have a crosshatch trigger but I don't have $840 to spend on one fish. (don't have that period actually) I have no intention of doing the live reef thing though, I'd want to do the planted tank/macroalgae thing just like you see in tide pools. I think if I had a bigger tank I'd have to plan a trip to San Francisco and go catch some wild fish out of the tidepools instead of spending the money on them. That was the best part about living on Guam, if you needed water, coral or fish you just went to the beach.
Great info. Well done and informative! I’m on the same page.
The exact cause of hole in the head are electric poles that emanate from the brain of the fish. These poles start at the brain and run down the electric pathways of the fish. The cause of this situation is "capacitance" Most fish tanks have lights that emanate electromagnetic energy into the water. Pumps and heaters as well, The water isn't grounded as it sits in an insulator (glass or plastic). The water becomes electrically charged and unable to release the energy. The tank becomes a "capacitor," the electrical brain activity reacting with the charged water body creates a cathode. This cathode, ionizing the flesh at the location of the magnetic poles that emanate from the nervous system. Once the flesh is opened up by this electric affect, allowing infection. The infection is secondary to the magnetic cause. Ground your fish tank to earth It only takes a few mili amps [ma] over long periods to cause this situation.
😱 my angel fish lived under both heater and pump. Just found him with massive hole in the head dead. I only noticed the hole when my finger went through the slime
had some puffer fish cuz i like it i need to tack care of it and i have 4 fishies
Are stock tanks easier to manage than aquariums
Didn’t follow this video. I melted mine off with a heat gun. But i have a rimless biocube 29 that still works great! Id suggest this mod to others!
How do you keep predators away from the tank? I.e birds, snakes etc
How long do you have to wait to do the second dose
I had an Oscar that had this, and the hole formed completely through his head. He still lived for a year or so longer, but he did eventually pass a while back. Was weird to witness, but I learned a lot about what causes it.
My Oscar fish is lying on the floor, it has been months it came up the surface. In the past it come up to the surface to eat but now it’s lying on the ground and it has holes that is the same size of its nostrils, and when I touch it with stick it swim but it’s swimming side way and it lie back down on the floor a few second after it swim
Is a 50 watt water heater good for a 55 gallon tank?

This guy needs to be educated....
I am. read my replies. Thanks.
And those are not fancy goldfish in your stocked ponds.... Those are durandas.... And your welcome....
One stock pond had regular comet goldfish that had grown to about 3-4 inches and the other had fantail goldfish which many refer to as fancy goldfish. Orandas would also fall into fancy goldfish. There are about 20 or so types of goldfish that fall in he "fancy" category.
I would not dare allow my water to look that horrible and green.... That water in that pond, should be clear.... You should be able to see all the way to the bottom... Those poor fish....
Green water doesn't mean it's unsafe for fish. How many real ponds can you see to the bottom of? It actually makes them targets for predators if they can be spotted all the way to the bottom. It is an aesthetic. I liked keeping my water clear...hence the large water change during the extreme heat of the summer. I also got large bubblers to make sure I couldn't see to the bottom in spots because the top was agitated and offered spots for the fish to hide. But, green water doesn't mean "poor fish". read up on it.
